What is your Flag Plant for 2025? (1 Viewer)

Dynasty-skewed: Hampton will be a Joseph Addai/Donald Brown level player. Henderson will leapfrog his value within a year or two. Also, Henderson has always been better than Judkins regardless of the off-field stuff. The Browns did a Browns.

Redraft-skewed: Khalil Shakir has been undervalued since before he was drafted. After a mini breakout season, that still hasn't changed. He will once again be the best and most reliable pass catcher on the Bills. Great value at his ADP.

I can see the case for all them but I do think Kraft will be closer to the Kittle-Bowers-McBride tier than that next one. I just look at the need Green Bay has for targets with some of their injuries, the chances they pass much more this year with a healthy Love and the Kittle like YAC Kraft showed in 2024 as being signs of a potential monster year.
Oh yeah, agreed. I took Kraft in 2 leagues where all 4 were available for that same reason.

I had to double check but he wasn't even drafted in my local 10 teamer and remains a FA, might have to do something about that and fast
Yikes. If it’s TE required, take him now.

I have McBride and it's short benches but trying to find a way

It's tough for a 10 teamer to have 2 TEs. It depends who you would cut for him. It's also important to say, the less points are awarded for receptions, the better Kraft gets. He's more in the Kittle mold where 60-80 catches but lots of yards per catch and TD upside than he is a guy who will catch 100+ balls.

Chase Brown is also going way too low for someone who is going to be a bell cow in a great offense.
Where do you think he's being drafted? In my two leagues he was RB9 (FBG League Uno which is very competitive) and RB6 (long standing home league).

Two questions: 1) Where do think he can/will finish and 2) Would you draft him at that value? 2b) what value (i.e. RB#) would you draft him at?

Some of these aren't flag plants, they are hot takes
Is there a difference?
Flag plant is like taking ownership. The US planted the flag at Iwo Jima symbolzing the island was ours and we were winning the war. So I might like lots of guys for fantasy this year but my flag plants would the guys I believe in most and am most willing to put my reputation on the line for. A hot take or bold take is something you don't really think will happen but you have a hunch that something way out of left field could happen.

For example, flag plant could be saying Jameson Williams in the 5th round is my favorite pick. He's my guy there, I am taking him every time, he's on almost every team I draft. . A hot take would be saying Jamo will outscore Amon Ra and be a top 5 WR in fantasy this year.

Agreed and i'd pretty much have to drop an RB really. I only have 1 QB and 1 TE and my WRs, well they're huge upside plus i'm lugging Rashee around for 6 weeks. Only choice would be Bigsby, and while that sounds like an easy choice, he's probably my RB3 right now due to going to WR heavy and early TE

First of all; big fan, I think you know that. Second... you lost me with Iwo Jima. I get it but, too big.

I think it is a distinction with... at best a minor difference.

FTR I took Jameson at 5.04 as my WR2 in FBG Home League Uno (23rd WR off the board) and he's my favorite pick. Passed on Sutton, who I love this year, McLaurin and Moore at 4.09 because I was hoping to land Jameson at 5.04. Couldn't be happier. Got him as my WR3 (28th WR off the board) in my actual home league. But, I don't view that as a flag plant, I view that is as an outcome that wouldn't be terribly surprising to most. But, maybe I'm wrong about that.

Is that a flag plant?

ETA: I despise using the language of War when discussing sports. In the biggest way possible. They're silly, low stakes games for anyone but the people directly involved*. So that's probably jading my comments.

*I have opinions about the counter arguments to this but, I will refrain and hope no one talks about it.

Ok then think of it when Ohio State plants a flag at the 50 yard line in Michigan Stadium. It's taking ownership. Translating that to fantasy, it's a position you are willing to take ownership of and stake your season or repuation on. Chris Harris has done fantasy for ESPN and then independently for probably 20 years. Each year he does a flag list. Obviously because of his job, he has to rank and have a take on every player but his flag list are the guys he feels most confident in positively or negatively. Another reputable fantasy analyst, JJ Zacharison does a bold prediction every year. To me a bold prediction is a hot take. It's something he doesn't actually believe but something that he has some data to possibly point to a real surprising outlier outcome. For example, this year Harris has Josh Jacobs as a flag player. He has Jacobs as RB6 so he's not especially high on him, just feels most confident in him. JJ has bold predictions like Treyveon Henderson finishes as a top 10 RB or Tory Horton outscores Cooper Kupp.

But hey its football time. Good luck this year!

I had typed out a, IMO, thoughtful, but long response but it felt like nitpicking.

My flag plant is my flag plant.

Mayer will finish as a top 12(ish) TE. Flag Plant! IMO.

Jameson will finish as a top 16(ish) WR. Not really a Flag Plant, IMO.
