What move did you make in the middle of the year (1 Viewer)

Smart or just plain lucky?

For me, it's a little bit of both:

Lucky: Because I had such marginal QB play, I traded Adrian Peterson (Vikings) and Steve Smith (Panthers) for Peyton Manning. the guy I made the trade to was jubilant for weeks, until ADP got hurt, and then confident once again after last week. Now he's eliminated.

Smart: Picked up Ryan Grant off waiver wires middle of the year. (OK, this was pretty much luck, too!) Now I think Ryan is going to win me the championship.

If you're still in the playoffs and you've got a good shot to win, is there a move you made (not in your original draft) that made the difference?

I am in a keeper league and there are two trades that helped me a great deal and one waiver

#1 - Traded Romo (I have Brady) for Warner, Welker and a 2nd round pick - The team with Romo is now out of the playoffs

#2 - I traded Portis, Jacobs and 1st round pick for Addai

#3 - I got Ryan Grant on waivers

Believe it or not...trading Derrick Mason and Heath Miller for Jamal Lewis.

Also Dwayne Bowe and Jeff Garcia for Brett Favre and some throw away reciever.

My whole year has been a work in progress....

Drafted J.Addai, R.Bush, M.Lynch, K.Jones, C.Benson....but my WR's sucked.

Picked up J.Chatman, R.Grant, K.Smith, K.Warner & R.White.

Traded R.Bush & C.Benson to the R.Brown owner for F.Gore.

Traded M.Lynch & J.Chatman for R.Wayne.

I now have the following lineup (start 3-WR's)

K.Warner

J.Addai

R.Grant (K.Jones/F.Gore/K.Smith)

R.Wayne

J.Galloway

L.Fitzgerald (R.White)

K.Winslow

J.Hansen

Seattle DEF

But, I get to play the Brady owner this week.... :goodposting: It was a good run....

Traded McNabb/W. Parker/Roddy White for Peyton, went from 1-5 to 6-6 and made the playoffs. I lost this week, so my final record was 7-7 but I enjoyed the run.

Not sure if I consider myself driver seat but I do have a nice lead in my first semifinal playoff game (2 weeks total score)

Move that helped my team the most was a trade in the middle of the year:

I traded: Plex, Lendale, Daniels and Currey

I got: Witten, Willie, Gennings

Gennings was thrown in as an after thought and may be the best player in the whole bunch :)

In a deep keeper league I traded my 2nd round pick next year (usually a pretty worthless pick) and Jason Campbell to the last place team for Drew Brees to platoon with Kitna. Now Kitna is riding pine and I am in the semifinals this week.

Traded for Maurice Jones Drew (PPR league) and acquired Jon Beason, David Harris and Chris Harris for soem big name low performance IDPers.

Got Ryan Grant off of Waivers when I lost both LJ and Ronnie Brown.

Traded Andre Johnson in Week 4 for Tom Brady, straight-up. The other guy had Romo and is a Cowboys homer. We both got first-round BYES and short of choking, should get to the championship game. Of course, we all know anything can happen.

The two most decisive moves I made:

Waiver Wire: Picked up Welker in Week 2 or 3

Traded: Steve Smith, Brandon Jackson, Kyle Boller for Big Ben, Frank Gore, and Lee Evans

I now have the most points, best record, and my two main competitors for the championship both lost this weekend. Things are looking good! :)

At the beginning of the year a guy refused my ADP, Rothelsberger and Brandon Marshall for his Peyton Manning. He was holding out for Braylon Edwards.

In another league I pretty much have had the same team I drafted but it was drafting Moss (and I told everyone he would be the reason I did well) that put me over.

Put me down for Ryan Grant as well. Also, picking up Justin Fargas has paid dividends for the most part (aside from yesterday)

I had LJ and Lynch go down but I jumped on E Graham and Ryan Grant on

the waiver wire and they're my 2 starters rolling into the playoffs.

I also traded Selvin Young to the Travis Henry owner when the "Travis might be

suspended for the rest of the season" panic first hit. I got Lendale White

back in that trade just before Lendale went on his 3 week hot streak.

Between those 3 guys (Graham, Grant, Lendale) I pieced together

a 7 game winning streak and I have the 2 seed in the playoffs. All

while having my top 2 RBs injured.

phew.

1. Traded Boldin for AJ

2. Picked Ryan Grant up from waivers

3. Picked Lee Evans up from waivers

4. Picked Earnest Graham up from waivers

Traded Maroney for Fitzgerald leading up to week 4, and traded Galloway for Brees week 8.

I traded Ronald Curry for Drew Brees just before Brees went off.

I also picked up Ryan Grant as a free agent, which saved my team yesterday from elimination.

traded for chester taylor/br. edwards/turner and gave up KJones/fitz/vyoung as the ADP owner

before ADP injury

played the guy i traded with the first week chester had it all to himself and went for 150/3

winning that game won me a playoff spot that i would not have had

Traded Thomas Jones for Steven Jackson in week 7 as I had scooped up Leonard and the SJax owner was hurting at 2-5 and needed to win asap - couldn't afford to wait any longer. I was 5-2 at the time and could wait a few weeks for SJax to return (though there were still rumors he'd miss the rest of the season).

Heading to the playoffs with Westbrook/SJackson/Portis, which is a definite upgrade over what Jones is gonna do (at least I hope so).

spending about 3/4 of my waiver wire money on grant. Told my league mates then he was the pickup of the year and got mocked and ridiculed at the time.

I wouldn't say driver's seat but several moves got me to the semis of my keeper league:

1. Pre-season, I tried moving Moss for a high draft pick but had no takers. Best move (got lucky) I didn't make.

2. Traded Julius Jones for a pick to the Barber owner early on in the season as insurance to make room for K. Jones who went undrafted (people were scared off and T. Bell was getting overhyped). I had my eye on him since draft day.

3. Picked up Wynn then Ryan Grant off of waivers.

4. With Coles (my WR2) in and out of the injury report all year, I decided to give a pick for Welker.

Grant, K. Jones, Moss and Welker were :football: yesterday. Hope it keeps up!

Declined to trade ADP and then I got Chester Taylor off the WW after his owner gave up on him. I think I will just start them both this week (my other option is Reggie Bush, whom I received for Roy Williams)

Really shored up my 3 WR spot (Calvin Johnson) by picking up Cooley and Roddy White off the WW.

I've been the first seed for a while now. But I probably have not had the best team since week 2 or 3.

With Alexander, Peterson (Min), Jordan, D. Williams as my RBs for most of the year, the position has been up and down with some real struggles in the middle of the season. I never really had high expectations for Alexander and Jordan but thought they could hold the fort until Peterson and Williams became my starters (keeper league). Peterson has panned out. I'm still waiting on Williams. And after a few good weeks to start the year, Jordan teased me and I left him in as starter too long.

In desperation, I finally traded Alexander for Chatman but then a week later was able to turn Chatman into Grant. If Peterson and Grant can stay healthy, I think I again have the best team.

Like others, I had a lot of offers for ADP. Never seriously considered any of them including LJ and McNabb for Peterson and Hasselbeck early in the year.

And I can't forget some off-season moves that allowed me to have a nucleus of Wayne, Edwards, Marshall and Gates at the WR and TE positions. THis carried me through my RB2 struggles.

Traded Jones-Drew for Randy Moss straight up in a dynasty league. I still feel kind of sick about it, because Jones-Drew is my favorite player in the league, but my team is certainly stronger as a result. After starting 2-4, I've now won 8 straight, including posting one of the top 2 scores for 5 straight weeks.

I also wound up with Roethlisberger in every single league this year, often as my QB2. I didn't intend to do it, he just always fell to the point where I couldn't say no. Getting a top-6 starter for beans in every single league I participated in has been a large reason why I've made the playoffs in every league.

Same here SS. I'm getting a little scared after a less than stellar performance against NE though.

Picked up Ryan Grant, Ko Smith and Selvin Young. Played Kolby Smith and Andre Hall on their big week.

Traded Big Ben/K Jones for Westbrook right before KJones' dry spell.

Picked up DJ Hackett for a few weeks...

Now hurting at WR with Boldin/Hackett out...

Ryan Grant saved my season when A Green was intent on destroying it.

Ryan Grant. But I believe it'll come to an end when I face Brady, Moss and TO next week.

#3 - I got Ryan Grant on waivers

Picked up J.Chatman, R.Grant, K.Smith, K.Warner & R.White.

Traded Brandon Marshall for Ryan Grant when L.J. got hurt

Got Ryan Grant off of Waivers when I lost both LJ and Ronnie Brown.

Picked up Ryan Grant and Earnest Graham, to salvage the RB mess that Gore and B. Jackson created.

Anyone see a recurring theme here?

Traded Brandon Jacobs for Kevin Jones

Got Ernest Graham off waivers

traded Eli for Brees straight up in week 5. Next week he started his turn around. I got laughed at by everyone in my league. Tonights win locks up my playoff spot.

Started out hot, so never really had the WW priority to get Grant, Graham, Roddy, Fargas, but I've been fortunate to stay mostly healthy. 3 leagues and 3 playoffs (2 dynasty and one 14 team redraft).

Move wise, my best move was to NOT pull the trigger on a deal getting LJ (for Portis/Plax). This was right before he started playing well (around week 5 or so) and the schedule looked tasty. Losing my RB2 mid season would have been brutal - even though Portis hasn't been great.

Best pre-season prognostication was MN's D - drafted them late everywhere. And Welker x2.

Whiffed on Moss & Brady @ their ADP.

2 deals worked out to be about a wash IMO in my 14 team re-draft.

Mid October - Gave Jennings / Selvin and got Colston & A. Hall (started for the nice game) Probably would like to have that one back - unless Colston >>> Jennings over the next 2 weeks. Glad I'm not debating which DEN RB is my #2.

Gave Plax / Ahman / B Watson and got MJD / Hackett / Shockey

This one was for RB depth and I guessed right on Hackett before he exploded - only to not have him @ WR3 now...

Core is Big Ben, LT2, Portis/MJD, TO, Colston, Shockey, MN D

In a dynasty startup managed 11-2 w/ a first round bye, there hasn't been much trading around the league. 8 slot draft and ended up w/ a core of Addai, Romo (9th round :lmao: ) AJ, Welker, and MJD. The Keith onwer tried to blackmail me after Addai was out, but I passed.

Another Dynasty league - gave SA & S Smith for S Jackson when he was hurt, and a 1st next year. The team I adopted this year didn't have a round 1 pick, and my RB2 (SA) was sucking, so this was too good to pass up. In this league, I'm the guy who seems to always wins ugly. Mid league in points for but best points against (lowest). The owner most of us typically hate. SJax is a FA next year, but I can match the salary offer (franchise him).

Not in the driver's seat, but in my dynasty league I took a small mortgage against my next two years draft picks for Brady and TO. I'm young enough at RB, WR and TE that I felt it was safe to make a stronger push this year and next w/o being devastated in a couple of years by it.

I gave up McGahee, Willis BAL RB;Holmes, Santonio PIT WR; Year 2009 Round 1 Draft Pick

for

Moss, Randy NEP WR

Oh yeah, I gave a LOT ....... but when you're on the cusp of winning a Super Bowl you win NOW.

I start

QB Romo

RB Parker

RB ADP

WR TO

WR Moss

WR Burress

TE Gates

Kicker Folk

Defense Redskins or Broncos

Thats tough - and to give my future stars to get to where that lineup is I'll do it. The playoff brackets fell like I thought they would - the Brady owner is in the other bracket. If I meet him in the Super Bowl having Moss will offset Brady some.
