What percentage of your graduating class attended your last HS reunion? (1 Viewer)

Just had our 30th last weekend. About 10% showed up (35 out of class of 335). Seemed pretty light to me. Just wondering if that is normal?

18 years out here and we haven't had one. The one time our class president tried to get one together he cancelled it because no one was interested. That was at 10 years and many of us still hung out with those we wanted to hang out with on some sort of basis. Now that so many of us have kids I'm wondering if it'll be different when he inevitably tries to organize a 20th.

Never went or even heard if we had one...

10% seems about right if I had to guess.  Think about how many people don't care, moved away, died, got fat/ugly, in prison, etc.

I never went to any high school reunion.  Not sure I understand the fascination.
Every school's different, but our class was pretty tight. We're all spread out now and at least in my circles we gave up trying to organize any sort of get-together's years ago. New lives in new locales eventually took priority. The informal annual reunion is the night before Thanksgiving, but that's obviously only for those that go home - or never left in the first place. Of which there have been supposedly less in recent years, which makes sense. I don't know because I haven't gone since kids.

I don't think I've ever had.  A group of people that remain local to where I went to HS designated themselves the reunion committee for our 20th on Facebook.  They got together at Applebee's a couple of times, but then, I guess, decided that planning a reunion was too much work and that them getting together to drink some beers a couple of times was sufficient.

judging by the pics on the FB group, we had about 50 or 60 at my 25th last year... but I graduated in a class of nearly 1,000.

ETA: 50 people, not percent.

Facebook really kills the point of a reunion IMO.  I had fun at a couple of them, but every five years is overkill.  Until I really weeded out my Facebook contacts, I already knew everything about everybody that I would normally see only at a reunion and chat with for 5 minutes.  Those topics were already covered in the Facebook feed.  No need to catch up and see what people are up to.

35th just this past weekend.  20% showed up (35 out of 170).  It was my first time back and I only recognized 6 people.

Agree with this for 90% of the small-talk, but people ended up getting loaded and telling my wife and her friend stuff that you'd never see on FB. This is an actual list of things they learned.

- My one GB confided that he has a mistress half his age that no one (except for my wife and her friend now) knows anything about.

- Another GB's wife told them that my buddy is an alcoholic and often starts drinking by 9am.  :(   His dad was an alcoholic too.

- One girl told them that she was a photographer that shot fetish festivals. By the end of the night, she admitted that she was a professional dominatrix and was showing them pics of herself in action.

- One girl told them that she loves to go to swingers clubs, but will not do it local. She said they travel to clubs in other countries / islands (or sometimes Vegas) on their vacations and that she participates and her husband just likes to watch.

Never heard any stories that hold a candle to any of these, but I would readily admit that if I had, it would have improved the fun factor substantially.
