What song are you listening to right now? (1 Viewer)

That is very surprising lol

That guitar riff doe

eta* Apparently done slower an originally by a group named Exile. *shrugs*

I only knew the Huey Lewis version because . . . welp . . . it never really came up.
My best friend is a very serious Huey Lewis fan actually. Without any sense of irony too. I enjoy their music but in small doses. We saw him play live maybe 15 years ago, he likely tried to sleep with our GFs (now wives) and invited them all backstage after the show. One of our friends worked at the venue and so we sort of got to meet him but he was only interested in the girls.

*sighs*

Good work, Huey. Great memories.
Concert was pretty good, you know for a Huey show. But yes we were left with that very funny lasting memory. I guess a good taste for all our future wives that they came back and made fun of him instead of you know like going backstage.

Pa'lante

Hurray for the Riff Raff

The spoken word poem sampled is also pretty epic in it's full form.

Puerto Rico Obituary by Pedro Pietri

Pietri was a pretty interesting guy. Part of an emergent movement of Puerto Rican artists in the late 1960s and early 1970s known as The Young Lords. Besides challenging classical views of the immigrant experience in America, he wrote some hilarious light-hearted sardonic stuff like Suicide Not from a Cockroach in a Low Income Housing Project.

Bobby Comstock - Let's Stomp (1963)

#57 Billboard Hot 100

If this song sounds familiar to you it's because The Sweet lifted the drums in the intro, along with the main guitar riff for Ballroom Blitz.

Noah Kahan. Discovered him because my daughters love his music. Just got nominated for the Best newcomer Emmy. Very talented.

His whole Stick Season album is really good.

Elbow - Grounds For Divorce (2008)

Elbow was a kick *** band when they wanted to be.

#19 UK, #39 IRE, did not chart in the US.

Say Something. - by a band called James for all you youngsters. Excellent group.

The Woods - Miracles Tonight (1985)

An uptempo jangly Peter, Paul, And Mary

Kid Pharaon - Livin' Underground (1987)

Jangly guitar driven Power Pop similar to The Plimsouls

Le Kid was a charismatic rocker from France, who never caught on in either the UK or the US.

Little River Band - It's A Long Way There (1975 Live GTK Aussie TV)

An extended, funky blues rock jam.

Never thought of Little River Band having a good lead guitarist, but early on they did. Check out the guitar solo starting about the 3: 57 mark.

This was with their original lead guitarist Ric Formosa (technically their 2nd lead player) who played on the first two LRB albums "Little River Band" and "After Hours" but then was replaced in August 1976.

Lollypop Lorry - Little Lie (2021)

Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae band from Yekaterinburg Russia

Eric Clapton - The Core (1977)

One of his overlooked and forgotten better songs.

The Yayhoos - Dancing Queen (2001)

Country Rock ABBA cover. They may be tongue-in-cheek here, but it works.

Point Blank - Lone Star Fool (1976)

Texas hard rock band that was managed by ZZ Top's producer.
