What time we trick or treating tomorrow? (1 Viewer)

We never get a lot of trick or treaters, but this year was even less than normal, I assume it was because of the weather. The doorbell rang four times...

The best were three 50 year old men in some sort of costume. They said with very thick German accents "Trick or treat."

My wife held out the bowl and one said with his thick German accent, "They told me to get a snickers". Another said, "And I would like a Milky Way". They each took one candy, thanked my wife and left.

We were laughing all night over that.

Seriously I have not lived where there was a set time. Kids just starting going out right at sundown everywhere I've lived.
I grew up in Allentown, PA. Trick or treat was always 6-8 PM on the Friday before Halloween. Adjoining cities actually varied too. I think Bethlehem always did theirs on the Saturday before and other cities did it on actual Halloween. But always a set time - which varied by city.

I had a buddy whose family was really into Halloween and they'd actually go trick or treating on three separate nights and multiple cities given the schedules to maximize it.
How is this even possible? It's not like people have an endless stockpile to give out whenever the hell some little superhero or princess wants to beg for candy.

I had a steady stream of trick or treaters. There were no big kids, no one who was not dressed up, and no adults with a bag. Those are the worst.

I ran out of candy and started handing out whatever snacks I had on hand. Several little ninjas got Doritos, pudding cups, and raisin boxes. They finally stopped coming after I turned out all the lights.

Those are some neutralized nazis. They come to your house and politely ask for candy while taking only 1 piece. Times have changed.

I've heard of set schedules, but have never lived anywhere with them (Boston suburbs, San Diego, Silicon Valley). Maybe the first two I mentioned now have them as those places were years ago...I dunno.

I'm surprised at how many of you are so adamant about the set schedules being the norm. Everywhere I've lived, the set schedule simply was when people stopped answering the door. In MA, that was around 8pm as it was usually cold by then. In CA, people knock until 8:30, rarely until 9pm. Pretty much nobody will answer the door after then and the kids understand. Some young kids may get started at 5 or 5:30, but usually the crowds get going around 6-6:30. Peak hour this year as 7-8.
