What to make of Antonio Bryant? (1 Viewer)

after weeks and weeks of injury concerns, Antonio Bryant was supposed to be getting better, but it now emerges he has a bone bruise in his knee "and he wants it to heal completely before he returns."

"I don't know (about) a time table," Bryant said Monday. "It's just all about the feeling, resting the body. The pain was sharp at first, now it's dull. It's kind of dulling out."

He's a scratch for Week 3, and possibly a few more after that at this point. The question of course is if he does come back, how long until he gets back to being 100% and producing effectively (his week 1 display wasnt very convincing). At this point i'm inclined to think we can forget about him putting up numbers similar to his 2008 late season form. Even if he does come back to 100%, the Tampa passing attack hasnt exactly been overly impressive, but it could be precisely because they lack good weapons like him. The running game must at least keep defenses honest.

So what to make of Anotnio Bryant? How much longer until he plays again, and plays well? Is he still worth a bench spot in a redraft league or better to waive him and attempt a pre-emptive pickup further down the season? Do you think it's wiser to take a chance on one of the promising waiver pick ups out there (Sims-Walker or Pierre Garcon or Johnny Knox) that could deliver as well as Bryant when he gets back?

YAY or NAY?

:lmao:

I want to know other's thoughts on this, as an owner already bailed on him in my league. I am considering picking him up and stashing him until later, but I already have Anthony Gonzalez stashed for later. I am still thinking about it though.

my fear is that later in the season when the bucs are out of the playoff hunt, a younger QB gets PT and the offense suffers.

With the way that Tampa defense is playing and the way Tampa is gonna have to continue to throw a ton, Bryant could have another huge 2nd half this year when he gets healthy

Leftwich has 572 yards and 4 tds through 2 games. Id say that a lot more impressive than people would have ever thought so far. If it keeps up, Bryant will be a great buy low for the rest of the season if you dont own him and a definite hold if you do own him.

i stand corrected, didnt realize TB had thrown so much. I guess only if you own Leftwich should you live in fear of turnovers and bad decisions. So there could be hope after all (For A.B that is)

An antsy owner dropped Bryant last week and I used my #1 waiver priority to pick him up (over Sims-Walker and Knox). More proven commodity than those other two, and the reports seem adamant that he's currently missing time due to a bone bruise and not complications with the knee.

May blow up in my face, especially if Tampa switches QBs later in the season, but I'll give Bryant the benefit of the doubt in a contract year.

He is a definate hold. He's very talented and will see the majority of targets when he is finally healthy. He's proven he can do it already. People should have expected a slow start to this season coming off a fresh surgury. He will be a blessing to have on your team mid season through the playoff push. He wants to be 100% out there. He's on a 1 year "prove it" contract. He knows the difference between pain and injury. He's waiting for his injury to heal, he'll play through the pain. This is one player I trust to get himself completely healthy, then bust his ### when he finally is.
