after weeks and weeks of injury concerns, Antonio Bryant was supposed to be getting better, but it now emerges he has a bone bruise in his knee "and he wants it to heal completely before he returns."
"I don't know (about) a time table," Bryant said Monday. "It's just all about the feeling, resting the body. The pain was sharp at first, now it's dull. It's kind of dulling out."
He's a scratch for Week 3, and possibly a few more after that at this point. The question of course is if he does come back, how long until he gets back to being 100% and producing effectively (his week 1 display wasnt very convincing). At this point i'm inclined to think we can forget about him putting up numbers similar to his 2008 late season form. Even if he does come back to 100%, the Tampa passing attack hasnt exactly been overly impressive, but it could be precisely because they lack good weapons like him. The running game must at least keep defenses honest.
So what to make of Anotnio Bryant? How much longer until he plays again, and plays well? Is he still worth a bench spot in a redraft league or better to waive him and attempt a pre-emptive pickup further down the season? Do you think it's wiser to take a chance on one of the promising waiver pick ups out there (Sims-Walker or Pierre Garcon or Johnny Knox) that could deliver as well as Bryant when he gets back?
YAY or NAY?
