What will you remember most? ... about Brett Favre? (1 Viewer)

Game ending INTs. Could have been the greatest ever except that he frequently came up small in big games.
So where do you rank him overall?
Behind Montana, Elway, Brady, Young, Moon, and Staubach. Probably behind or on par Marino, Manning, and Fouts. Likely ahead of Bradshaw, Griese and Aikman. To answer your question, confidently somewhere in the 6-10 range. He had the stats and opportunity to move into the top five. I was born in 66 so I'm only looking at the era I remember.

Are any of the all time greats remembered even remotely for throwing so many INTs at crucial times?
Honestly they may have, but with Favre it stands out more which was the premise of this thread. I could have also gone with the Madden love, oVVning the Bears, and the game after his Dad died.

Hey BnB, this will always be an interesting debate. I think I would slip Favre into the top 5 based on the players from this era (I was born in 60 so we've seen essentially the same QBs.).I have no doubt that Montana deserves to be 1st. I'd include Favre, Marino, Young and Staubach in no particular order in the top 5 of the ones you mentioned. I'd exclude Brady and Manning at this point since they still have alot of time left, but both will probably bump someone from the top 5, it's only a matter of time. Moon and Fouts were great but not quite there for me. Aikman, Bradshaw and Griese fall into the same category as Bart Starr, hard to judge because of the the superior teams they played for and thus they were not asked to do what many of the others were asked to do.I left Elway out (I'd make him 6-7th) just because he's the one most Favre-like IMO. I realize it's also valid to say that Favre was Elway-like. Both players carried sub-par teams almost single-handedly. Both won Super Bowls when they got a running game. Both were among the most exciting players ever at their position. I guess I give Favre the slight edge based on better stats, longer career and of course me being a Packer fan.I do think it's interesting that 3 of the QB's on this list (Montana, Young, Favre) all have pretty significant ties to Mike Holmgren. Maybe Matt Hasselbeck should be thanking his lucky stars. Anyway, thanks for adding to the discussion and bringing up some great players to remember.

Despite all of the great accomplishments he has, I remember him refusing to help Aaron Rodgers a few years back. Just something that sticks out.

So you remember that one quote where he said it was not his job.But forget the fact that he never actually refused to help Rodgers do anything and the numerous Rodgers quotes that they have a very good relationship and he has always been there to answer his questions?

Brett was far from perfect, but he had an extrodinary career and was one of the funnest players to watch in my opinion. I just don't understand why people make such an effort to rip on his career and his personal life. There are many players, even rivals of my favorite team, that if they retired I'd have plenty of great things to say about them. I was rather surprised by all the negative comments in all the Favre threads this past week. If that's how people remember Favre, so be it, but it would have been nice if those fbgs would have let the people that enjoyed his career to have a thread without trying to disrupt it.

Are you calling Favre a liar?

No...Im saying there is one quote out there that Favre has discussed...and it has been shown to be a bit out of context. There are quote after quote after quote (to anyone that took the time to do a google search) where Rodgers and Favre talk about having a good working relationship and Rodgers praising Favre for the help he has given to him.But people still hang on the one quote that got all the play.
