What would a team have to do to be worthy of (1 Viewer)

Yes, this is inspired by CameraGate.

No, I am not saying the Pats actions should constitute a forfeiture of the season.

Curious what a team would have to do to be worthy of a season forfeiture (which is uncommon but happens in NCAA football)? And how would you implement it? Do you just tell the team's players they sit home all year and can't play? That would be an advantage to any team that played them and doubly advantageous for their division rivals.

Go.

I can't imagine a team doing anything to cause them to forfeit a single game. Fines and loss of draft picks are as far as the NFL goes.

:goodposting: This is professional sports we are talking about, right?

I think if you found the all the coaches involved in providing forbidden performance enhancing drugs to the players, and using subterfuge to deceive the drug testing program, it might qualify. Oh, and also paying off the refs.

What if they blew up their opponent's training facility?

It would have to be something on the scale of the Black Sox scandal--something having to do with competitive balance and money, such as a network paying players and coaches to keep games close, and making a pile in Vegas on the side. The only other thing that could rise to this sort of level would be a whole team doing something to their equipment with the express intent of seriously injuring the best players on the opposing team. I have no idea how it might be done, and I'm glad I don't.In terms of adjustment, you could throw out all the team's previous results and maybe find a way to rejigger the schedule for the rest of the season. It would involve extending the regular season by a week, maybe two.
