Over the years, the people I grew up with and the people I befriended at work/college didn't think the same.

A lot of the people I grew up with ended up in jail and I wouldn't be surprised if some are dead now.

In 1st grade I was living in a motel that we eventually got evicted from for non-payment of rent. We couldn't afford a Christmas tree, so I drew one on a piece of paper and taped it to the wall. Many nights we'd just eat rice for dinner. if I told you Mrs. SB's story you'd think I had a walk in the park.

Fast forward to today, we both make FBG money in white-collar jobs and are very good at what we do. Neither of us had some magical white people blue-collar network to tap into.

My background isn't much different. My parents certainly had issues, but they valued education and work ethic. During the rough financial times they were smart enough to live in a crappy place in a good part of town.This really boils down to parents. Good parents will largely raise successful children. It takes more than just good intentioned parents though.
