Em I'm really rooting for the Pacers to get over 101. You have a whole pay check riding on this game! They're at 82 with 5:46 left in the 4th! We need a rally!

Need to chase it with a $700 bet.
That might get him even. He just lost a $285 bet this last weekend. Em is having a tough week. 1/3 of his net worth down the drain. He just needs to look at those box scores a little closer and figure out the pattern. I still believe

You and your ####### avatars won't be missed in the least.

You disappoint me Em. You are a quitter.

You got your stones busted a few times but many folks tried to help you.
I recently purchased some shares in NHUR. It's a great buy-low DocHoliday. Anyone who is truly interested will continue to follow me on Twitter and watch me succeed. The people posting on here only look for reasons to ridicule me and ignore my valid advice.

Now, the people who are actually interested can get their fix and I will have moderator ability on my Twitter account.
Translation: I asked for advice but didn't like the advice I was given so I want to delete people who don't tell me what I want to hear
So woz.
Too bad I never asked for advice...?
Sorry if I fail the internet, but there's really nothing friendly about your fishing trips. I hate your avatars. I hate your schtick. If you're real, I don't like your life or attitude. That's the last of it from me.

Good ####### riddance.
I come here and do nothing but succeed and everyone hates on me.

FACT: Everyone hates a good winner. See Lebron James.

Kudos to those few on my "homies" list that can actually view things objectively.
Winner huh? How is the love life Champ?

You people are awfully mean to this kid.
You know I tried to talk him out of sports betting and penny stocks many times. But he scoffs at help and insists people trying to offer helpful advice are just ignorant of his massive talents in picking teams and stocks.

Well yeah, I guess there's that.
You do seem like a good dude. I think I was mistaken.

So, in all earnestness, if he's real, take him under your wing. He could use it. I say that without malice.

Oh Em.....so close...LeBron missed a 3-pointer with 1 second left to send it to OT and win you the over.....all $340 is gone

So divide the $340 by the number of boxes of summers eve you stocked today so you can see how much it actually cost you.

I just can't believe that someone who lives with their mom would bet 300 bucks on an NBA game. That's half a month's rent for him.

This persona is the ultimate :fishing: trip... It is enjoyable, but it is clearly fictional.
I am thinking he is real and could be the basis for a great Character in an SNL skit. Could probably spin off into a movie. I need to start archiving these threads for material for the screenplay.

I'm thinking he's one half of a cop/misunderstood con action comedy , working title "Dark Metal, Hard Delete"

My only advice for him would be if you really want to win money in sports betting you can, and it's fun, but you aren't going to do it betting sides or totals.

The DSP and Em comedy hour had a good run on FBG, but it has reached a sad end. :sadbanana:

He's a Bears scout. How are Bears player props starting in Week 1 not factored into the early retirement plans here?

Both. Kinda nice, this lovely language. Love it.

Whoa...how much is his net worth down now? He could've bought a gazillion shares of HEMP with that money

I actually wrote a pretty lengthy post to him highlighting that he was showing signs of having a gambling problem in an honest attempt to help. I believe his response was something to the effect of he knows what he is doing and I just couldn't see the big picture.

I swear these threads keep me coming back here because it is really fascinating to watch. But sad. But fascinating.

It really was a beautiful post. I almost just said thanks, but since I'm actually trying to help Em with this I figured I'd go with the more literal approach.

I think when the girl who he really liked kidded him about him giving her the $300 and his response was, no wait til I double it. That is probably a sign he has a problem. It is never enough, he thinks he can win forever. That mentality always eventually loses.

There are a lot of ways to gamble to make some extra money. Sports betting is one if you know what you're doing. The Stock Market is one if you know what you're doing. Myself, I do the sports betting because I understand it and know how to make money with it, and I have no idea what I'm doing with stocks. Others are the opposite, and are probably smarter than me. I don't know that chasing penny stocks is a bad idea but many people who know what they're doing are saying it's not smart, so I'd trust them. I do know that throwing your whole bankroll on a team total in sports betting is a really bad idea. Especially a team total on a team that is mediocre offensively against a good defensive team when Indy plays a slow paced game. Honestly looking at the stats that looks a game where the team total under was the better bet. Em in all seriousness spend some time in the wagering thread or at least spend more time doing research if you're going to throw a monster bet on something. I'm rooting for you, but that was just a bad move.

I really think better advice would be to put his paycheck in a savings account, close his sports betting accounts, leave his discounted Walgreens stock as a long term investment and not sell it (it is a nice investment perk to have), stop trying to make $5 a day on the stock market with penny stocks, pay off his credit card debt and start saving for first month, last month, and security deposit for an apartment to rent so he can move out of his parents' basement.

No offense, but this kid has no business taking every penny he earns and then additional lines of credit on top of that betting on sports and margin trading. Gambling should be for people that have extra money laying around, after all the bills are paid, 401Ks contributed to, etc., to play with if they find it an enjoyable pastime. That is not what is going on here.

:goodposting:

His problem (which is probably common among many people his age, including myself ~10 years ago) is that he's looking for the easy way out. He hasn't lived on his own and supported himself, so the dream of gambling his way (either sports betting or penny stocks, not much of a difference really) to financial prosperity still seems like a realistic scenario.

Move out. Find a job with better growth potential. Stop gambling and ####### around with crappy stocks and use that money to pay off your debt. Realize that you don't have the answer to everything and you're not smarter than everyone else. The sooner you do these things the better off your life will be.

I don't disagree, that's the smart thing to do. But if you want to be stupid, be stupid smartly. Also he's 22 or so, nothing wrong with dicking around at that age just be a little more sane about it.

Ehhh, that was close. :) I don't really mind losing the $300. I'm really just mad that I bet it all on one game. I was doing decent when I was making strictly $5.00 bets and chiseling away at the final in $5 increments.

No guts, no glory. I didn't bet anything I wouldn't have been comfortable losing anyhow.

I'm starting to lose the value of money, like nothing matters in my current situation.

1.) I've still got over $2,000 in my stock portfolio.

2.) I've got a pre-approved credit card for $1,500 sitting on my desk.

3.) I've got over $1,000 available on my current credit cards.

4.) I get paid $500 on Thursday.

5.) I finally got paid my $300 from that dirtbag for winning that Fantasy Football League.

6.) My bills are only like $200 a month ($45 phone, $45 insurance, $90 gas). The remaining $1,400 is mine to save / spend on whatever I want.

But what's really gotten me thinking is the fact that I'm probably going to get promoted to Assistant Store Manager this time next year at Walgreens. I'll be making about $17.00 an hour at that point.

Current: 11.50 x 40 = $460 a week, $920 a paycheck, $1,840 a month...

Future: 17.00 x 40 = $680 a week, $1,360 a paycheck, $2,720 a month...

In about a year's time, I will have an extra $900 a month to **** around with. It really makes saving money now seem pointless, like in a years time I'll be able to blow $900 a month on something ######ed (say a sports bet) and have the same exact amount of money that I have now.

I might as well be a dumb kid and blow my money on stupid #### while I still have the chance. I really don't know why I don't have my own place to live, feels kind of stupid having all this extra money where I can burn $300 on a whim and not have it really effect anything.

You tell them Em! Owners of HEMP UNITE!

I am excited to trade on margin though. I want to put $2,000 into Facebook, not sure though... going to have to do a little more research and pick a winning stock. My second option is T-Mobile at the moment.
