@Keerock

please add "do you call it soda or pop?" to the queue of future polls

It's called "A Coke".
It is if you're purchasing a regular coca-cola.

You know, there's a whole segment of the country you live in that would vehemently disagree with you. In the south, any soda is referred to as "A Coke". Just the way it is.
There's also a whole segment of the country that think the Earth is flat, that think Nickelback is good, and/or cheer for the Philadelphia Eagles. Doesn't mean their opinions/beliefs are correct.

I didn't say it was correct - I'm just telling you what southerners call soda in the south.
Sodasplaining

I drank soda as a kid, and early adult......I was a regular Pepsi guy.......don't drink it anymore. Too sweet, and I hate artificial sweeteners, so no diet for me.

Oh. Well carry on then.

For those of you that drink soda/diet soda on the reg, how are your teeth holding up? Part of me quitting soda altogether was the warnings I was getting from dentists about the long term damage to enamel. No issues since so I'm wondering about guys my age (50) who still drink it - your dentists say anything about it?
I probably drink a soda a day and have had no problems with my teeth.

I was on the don't drink soda train max 3 to 5 a year sometimes with pizza. 25 cent sodas in my work lunchroom which the gave you 2 half the time got me buying/gambling/drinking soda again .lol
Then I kept seeing this add for a local Pepsi distributor offering home delivery and looked into it. You had to order three items so I tied natural sugar Mt. Dew and Pepsi and grabbed the mug root beer for non caffeine post work non alcohol beverage and black cows ...Been drinking about 3 a week after about 5 a week for a week or two lol.
Actually the real sugar sodas seem less fizz and more sweetness not necesarrily a good thing flavor wise.
And I did forget I have been on a ginger ale kick since I started investigating the history of Kentucky water lol.
So poison is poison and I like to stick to more natural poisons figuring my body can better handle it... Hope to drop soda again...upon retirement prolly to try and live longer lol. I hope you enjoyed the book haha. Be well.

99% of my liquid intake is water and 0 calorie pop. Love Coke Zero and am jealous of the varieties you Americans get.

Is it just me, or does admitting you drink pop as an adult carry an awful stigma. Seems worse than admitting to using meth.

I drink it regularly (a handful of times a week). But I have always been A+ on my dental hygiene (aside from drinking soda, I guess).

Brush regularly, floss. And I have always used enamel-building/repairing toothpaste and mouth wash. I've been lucky enough to have not had a cavity since I was like 8.

I voted regular, but there was no option for the "Zero" version.... or would that be considered diet? I don't drink much soda anymore (hello, 20 lbs. lost!) but when I do, I most certainly try getting something like Coke Zero.

Few years back I would drink sweet tea and sugar sodas regularly. I managed to eliminate both but moved to Zero product sodas. I actually just finished 3 weeks of being out of town and planned when I get back to try and cut out sodas completely. Will see how it goes.

Totally considered Diet. AKA Zero Sugar.

Yeah it's just a different artificial sweetener.
Actually, they both use the same sweetener, just a different flavor profile.

Uh oh, soda pop drinkers.....

LONDON, June 29 (Reuters) - One of the world's most common artificial sweeteners is set to be declared a possible carcinogen next month by a leading global health body, according to two sources with knowledge of the process, pitting it against the food industry and regulators.

Aspartame, used in products from Coca-Cola diet sodas to Mars' Extra chewing gum and some Snapple drinks, will be listed in July as "possibly carcinogenic to humans" for the first time by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), the World Health Organization's (WHO) cancer research arm, the sources told Reuters.

After 40 years, any damage is already done. If they want to change to sucralose or something similar, I'm fine with it, but at this point there's no going back (at least for me)

I just just learned something.

any type of diet soda just tastes like crap. That cheap, artificial aftertaste never worked for me. I don't drink soda very often, but when I do it's got to be the regular stuff. Coke, Dr. Pepper, Cherry Coke.

So right up there with using your cell phone or eating pickles. (I was going to say drinking coffee, too, but I forgot they took it off that category after it had been there for a while.) Unless you're going nuts with the stuff, I wouldn't be too concerned. But I imagine it will be overblown by the media.

Growing up I was all Pepsi. Quit drinking all pop when I was about 35. Went back to it a few years later and switched to Coke. Quit again when I was about 40. Started back up several years ago and try not to have caffeine. Drink lots of root beer. Love this stuff:

quote from an article on the new report:

The current recommendations for safe daily aspartame consumption are 50mg per kg of body weight in the US and 40mg per kg of body weight in the UK.

This puts the British recommendation at about 2800mg for a 70kg adult.

Considering the average can of Diet Coke contains 180mg of real aspartame the British Dietetic Association says an adult would need to consume 15 cans a day to reach the acceptable daily intake of the sweetener.

I drink about 10 diet cokes per week so I should be in the safe zone.
Does size matter? (TWSS)

Regular for me, I just can’t do the diet aftertaste. Hate when some of the alcoholic seltzers put out a seasonal flavor and I buy it not realizing it’s artificial

I don’t drink too much of it

Fast food - I’m getting a coke. I’d say probably 2-3 times a month we get it for lunch or dinner

Pizza - have pizza pretty much once a week or close to it. I actually buy the mini-cokes even though it’s cost prohibitive compared to regular sized. Usually wife and I split a mini

Popcorn - if at home split a mini, sometimes a full mini. Or at a theater we will split a large

Beyond that it’s pretty infrequent, sometimes if I eat a greasy burger or something I’ll have some to settle my stomach

I will drink a 4 pack of the below every few months. I did not consider it soda until I saw @General Malaise post.

If it does count as soda, then I drink around 20-25 soda's per year. And the "strongest" ginger beer is my favorite soda by far. I liked extra strength, but they really upped their game when they came out with the strongest flavor.

Love ginger beer. Never tried this Reed’s, but I like Gosling’s quite a bit
Technically "ginger ale", but you haven't lived until you have Blenheim's Ginger Ale

You know what else is a carcinogen? Obesity. Soft drinks aren’t healthy, no matter how they’re sweetened.
