Voted real because that’s my preference, but wife prefers fake, so we have a fake one for the second year in a row. Wasn’t a battle that I was up for anymore.

I prefer a real tree but because the cost got so out of hand we use a fake tree. So preference is real but we have a fake.
We usually get ours at Home Depot. Usually get a 7-8' Fraser Fir for around $75. Sometimes less.

Holds its needles well. Branches are firm for those heavier ornaments. Recycle the tree at the end of the season. A true regenerative resource. Love 'em.
That's cheap. Cost was getting to be over $100-$150 to get any tree that looked decent but was usually 5'-6' tall. You could find trees under $100 but they were more like the Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
Holy crap, I had no idea trees were going for that now

We paid $75 for our 7-8ft tree in the Midwest.

We used to go to the local hardware store, but they were getting up over $100. Get ours at Lowes now. Douglas Fir which is a good tree.

Hard for me to answer, but I went with Artificial because we started using one this year.

I love a real tree... the smell especially, but HATE HATE HATE the process and cost of selecting, buying, transporting, putting up, mess, take down, disposal, etc of a real tree.

My wife would prefer a real tree, especially because she does literally none of the work involved with one. She also complains that they are uneven/crooked/too thin/too full/too tall/too short/doesn't smell good enough/sheds too many needles  She has similar but different complaints about the fake one, but I finally won out this year after spending $170 last year for a tree she complained about.
I could have written this word for word. Exact same situation here.

So far we're both enjoying our artificial tree. Kids are ok with it too.

Real tree. We pay $10 for permit to cut one in the National Forest. In low snow years like this year, it's an easy walk but we have gone out wearing skis or snowshoes some years. I used to hate the up and downs of searching with my wife because she is pretty picky and indecisive, but in recent years, I've adopted the mantra that I am out for a beautiful hike in the mountains and that the tree is just a side note. It's become a really fun adventure.

For me - Real 100%. My wife used to be in the same boat as me, but the last few years she has hinted harder and harder at going artificial. Part of what I love is the variety when you get a live tree. It's never the same, but always "perfect." I also enjoy the family time and process of going to the farm and walking around to find your tree, and then putting it up. Lastly, Since we moved into our house, I've taken a slice of the stump from each tree and turned it into an annual stump ornament celebrating things that happened in that year. I'm going on 13 years doing this, and you can't do that with artificial.

I will say that the price of real trees is borderline insane in our area as population growth has far outpaced tree supply. We paid $120 this year...When we first moved out here, it was $60-$70. We do benefit from "flat rate" pricing as we usually get a 10'+ tree, but still...

I'll keep fighting the good fight for those of us stuck in the "wife wants artificial" club.

Prefer real. We usually would put a real one in the living room and an artificial one down in the rec room. The price of real for the past few years has us just using the artificial.
