Hard to believe an institution that compels students to pledge their allegiance to the state every day would be authoritarian.
the op is wackCan't read it. Having trouble taking the source very seriously.
Kid was given detention because he dared to tell his teacher she was wrong for stating that a kilometer is longer than a mile. Can't read it. Having trouble taking the source very seriously.
What's "wack" about it?the op is wackCan't read it. Having trouble taking the source very seriously.
all this is is funny detentions for kids, almost all of them deserved a detention and deserved to be treated like folk heroes by their peers
Thanks! So 21 years ago a really stupid teacher did something really stupid. Good posting, guy.
Thanks!I love all the troll accounts here.
Good work OP.
I'm not creative enough to reel in a dozen replies to every little thing I do.Thanks!I love all the troll accounts here.
Good work OP.
I'd return the compliment, but I'm not familiar with your work.
I can't do it captain! The irony! The irony is too strong! Losing thrust...core melting down...Eject! Eject!Jack White, I've known a lot of Rothbard type libertarian/anarchists in my life, and many of them, despite having some ideas I could never agree with, were the nicest people. But-
There's something wrong with your presentation. It's not your ideas, as wrong as some of them are to me. It's you, at least it's you on this board. I can't express specifically what it is that is so repellant about your posts, but you'll have to trust me, they are.
I didn't see the other slides. The slide I linked to was not about a doofus kid, it was about a doofus teacher in a doofus school run by a clan of doofuses.Only a paranoid delusional turns a link about doofus kids doing doofus things into an anti-government screech. Good work, Spock.

Funny, I can remember getting detention several times for the exact same thing. What's "wack" about it?the op is wackCan't read it. Having trouble taking the source very seriously.

I posted a link to slide 12, which is a letter informing a parent that his kid was given detention for daring to point out that his teacher is an imbecile.

As a math teacher, I don't personally care if they read, as long as they don't interrupt others and get their work done. The problem is that they'd rather play on their phones, which gets taken away and given to the dean, or they face a short suspension. Is it perfect? No, but cell signal jammers are illegal, otherwise I'd have one.B-Deep said:MY kid has gotten in trouble for reading at school
if it is math class and you are supposed to be listening and are instead reading another book you are doing something wrong.
Hate to break it to you, but teachers never like being shown up in class. I got in trouble in the 2nd grade for taking an encyclopedia to school to prove something the teacher had said was wrong--and that was in 1960.Jack White said:Kid was given detention because he dared to tell his teacher she was wrong for stating that a kilometer is longer than a mile.NCCommish said:Can't read it. if you don't pay those dog schools on time, they roll by your house and shout out the secret word that causes your dog to go nuts and kill you.McGarnicle said:That's why our dog is homeschooled.

Would you care if a student slept in class if he was consistently a straight A student who always tested in the 99th percentile? As a math teacher, I don't personally care if they read, as long as they don't interrupt others and get their work done. Yeah but the 40% of your posts that are repellent (nice spelling there you dolt), are exponentially so.I have no problem with that.timschochet said:Jack White, I've known a lot of Rothbard type libertarian/anarchists in my life, and many of them, despite having some ideas I could never agree with, were the nicest people. I will say, however, that only some of my posts are libertarian/anarchist in nature.
Most of my posts are about beer, chicks, TV shows, the NBA and people struggling with the prospect of putting their pets down. Nothing the average person would find repellant.
