what's the word on RUDI (1 Viewer)

rudi didn't do much in week 1. is there any prospect that he'll do better in the next few games? i mean, kevin smith did fine, so do we expect him to keep getting yards and points, or will he be replaced by rudi once the former bengal is ready?

Not that it contributes much to this thread, but I was just thinking that spending his NFL career with the Bengals and then the Lions should get this guy a V.I.P. pass in the back door around St. Peter.

Edit to actually contribute: At best I'd expect a share of the load no great than 50% barring injury. Additionally with that horrid defense Rudi's opportunities in the 2nd half of games should be pretty limited. I just don't see much upside here.

I would guess Rudi is a better blocking back than Smith based on experience alone. Don't know if that will come into play but you can't make an impact on the pine.

If you got 1000 and 5 TDs out of him, you should do cartwheels.

I'm guessing someting to the order of 800 and 3 TD

I hope realize that he's barely been with the organization enough to even know where the bathrooms are in the place. What are you expecting from him? The only reason he hit the field already is because he's a vet and is seasoned enough that he can pick up plays and situations fast. Add that it's the Lions and you have to temper those expectations. As for him doing better? If he got carries already, that is a sign that will surely be used more. Kevin Smith owners should be fine in the long run, but Rudi will surely be cutting into his immediate value/impact.

It was said during the broadcast that the only plays Rudi knew at the time were the running plays. You'd think an organization as sharp as the Lions might have been more diligent from having that information become public.

Anyway, I think he's got some catching up to do and given how bad the defense looked, the commitment to the run the Detroit has pledged really appears to be conceptual.
