What's your big lineup gamble? (1 Viewer)

I'm curious to know if anyone is willing to take some big chances with their lineups this week.

Just for example, things I would consider "big gambles" would include starting:

- Guys like Vick Ballard over some proven RB who've underperformed recently (e.g. Ridley, who may see fewer carries due to fumbling)

- A high-upside like Danario Alexander (top 3 WR for 3-4 weeks running then goose egg last week) over lower-risk WR2's (e.g. Decker, Smiff, Mike Wallace, etc.)

- Long shot QB's like Sam Bradford who's performed well recently and going up against the 32nd rank defense this week (maybe over a high-profile QB like Russell Wilson playing the 49ers DEF)

Or are you going to play it close to the vest with so much on the line?

Ridley over Leshoure.

I don't think Ridley will see minimum carries, but it's Bellicheck and he's never easy to read, and that my friend is why this feels like a gamble.

Generally I don't ever "gamble" in the playoffs, unless I'm a significant underdog.

Although I've strongly been considering benching TRich for DMC, I've pretty much settled on Trent despite the horrific matchup.

Dmac's matchup is easily more favorable, but I can't stand the thought of losing a super bowl with my horse on the bench.

My gamble is staying "pat" with Michael Crabtree as my WR3. Yes, he's likely going up against Richard Sherman, but I think I'd be more upset with myself if I don't dance with the one who brought me here and then I lose because of that choice.

I am also gambling on the Rams this week vs. the TB pass defense.

Picked up Brandon Gibson off the wire and gonna play him over Danario Alexander at WR2 in PPR. Amendola will be my other WR so I get a decent hedge on TD's. DX will have higher upside but that Cromartie matchup scares me coming off SD's performance last week.

Not sure if its a gamble, decided Forte over Moreno

Picked up Pitta for this week over Rudolph

+1

Starting Roddy.

Actually, starting Roddy, Shorts and S. Johnson. Sitting Brown and Crabtree. I hate sitting those that brought you, but I can't put Crabtree in over any of these three, even though he is the reason I pulled out a win last week and Roddy almost got me knocked out of the playoffs.

I want to start someone over Ridley but all I got is Ingram and Crabtree staring at me. I do think Ingram surprises but...

Trusting Leshoure tonight. I need a TD early or I think he gets not much. If ATL jumps ahead DET will just start throwing and then Leshoure is done. But he could score early while DET is in the game. I hope Stafford doesn't come out throwing INTs as that will shorten any time DET can use the running game enough to make Leshoure a worthy start.

This is the exact reason I can't bring myself to start leshoure. I think he's a safer play than Ridley for a mediocre performance but has little upside in a game where they fall behind. This thread seems like a giant accidental assistant coach thread. But I guess in the playoffs all is fair for the few of us still left and looking for some assurance to our weighty decisions.

None of these are huge gambles...

Moreno over Forte or Forte over Moreno... Both solid options, flip a coin

Roddy White over Crabtree

Garcon over Trent or BJGE... Garcon is easily a top 15 WR when RG3 plays with huge upside.

I wanna hear some stupid s.h.h.i.t like Ryan Grant over Frank Gore bc I'm scared of the Seahawks def.

Tony Scheffler (game tonight) or Gronk? I think I am going to play it safe.

My other option would be to drop Scheffler and pick up Chandler/Lewis type and hope Gronk plays.

Sea def vs. SF

my other choices are Atl def @ Det and CIN at Pitt

Big underdog in the champ game need to go for broke ( nothing on the wire)

Atlanta seems like the best of that group matchup wise. Seattle has been hot but San Fran lead by kap has been hot as well.

I cannot get a read on Lynch v Charles v Moreno this week. Need to sit one...with any luck it won't matter. Lynch and Moreno just seem safer right now

Charles and Lynch in for now with the ability to switch out Lynch for Moreno before afternoon games

Need 2 of:

Bradshaw

Wilson

Nicks

Crabtree

The Bradshaw injury news will play a big part in my decision but leaning Nicks & Crabtree unless Bradshaw is out then may need room for Wilson

starting Luck Over Wilson in the championship...

Luck has KC and Wilson has SF....i just have to forget the past two weeks and look at matchup.

Right? Right?

Please let me be right.....

Peace

Whew! I didn't get much (8) out of Leshoure but it was better than a goose egg. I'll take it, plus my opponent got zilch out of Gonzo. Good luck.

Sam Bradford over Matt Ryan
ouch....peace
Does this outcome change anyone's mind cause them to go the "conservative" route today? When I started this thread I was mainly looking to see philosophically how guys handled decisions in the final game.Kind of like real NFL teams in the fourth quarter when the game is on the line...do they stay aggressive with a lead or go into a shell? Not looking to pile on here (especially since Bradford has yet to play so it still may turn out great), but if Matuski has been aggressive all season with his matchup decisions and that got him to the finals, then hats off on staying consistent. But if the pressure of the final game starts making guys make decisions different then they otherwise would, now that would be interesting.

starting Shorts over Ridley and Ballard in a PPR league. In the same league I am starting RUN DMC, Moreno, and Charles (my WR are Green and Andre). I could start Ridley and DMC as flex but my opponent has Roddy. I need to roll the dice. If Roddy had thrown up a clunker, I would have gone with Ridley who I think could go for 65 and a TD. Shorts IMO, has more upside.

Fingers crossed.
