i went with bowtie pasta.

fits in my mouth perfectly and has lots of surface area for sauce.

ive grown weary of struggling with eating spahetti with a fork.

Depends on what I'm eating with the pasta...

For marinara and meatballs, give me spaghetti.

For chicken alfredo, give me fettuccine.

Love pasta and enjoy various different shapes

I'm a big fan of tortellini but considering it's a "stuffed" pasta, I don't think that should really count.

In terms of shape, one of my favorites but you just don't find very often is bucatini.  It combines the characteristics of a noodle along with a hollow pasta.  So good.

In general, I like smaller ridged pasta like mezze rigatoni or penne.  Cavatelli is another great option.

The only pasta that I really don't care for is really thin noodles.  I really don't care for angel hair pasta at all.

Ravioli and Tortellini shouldn't count since they're more about the contents in them than the shape. Unfair advantage.

Literally the only kind of pasta I don’t like. That middle part of the bow tie always ends firmer  than the rest.

The only time angel hair pasta should be used is when you are a sophomore in college and you've just moved into your new apartment. You bring a hottie over and tell you are going to make her dinner.

What are you making, she asks?

You answer: I'm making an angel hair pasta primavera.

A bottle of nice wine and wala - instant pantie remover.

My favorite is usually plain old ordinary extra-wide egg noodles. As wide as you can possibly get them!!

As far as 'regular' pasta, my go-to shape is linguini. It's not-too wide, not too thin. I use it for most of my sauces.

NOTHING beats a homeade pappardelle. You could drain an oil pan over those and still feel Catholic guilt over how sumptuous they are.

Mass-produced, DeCecco's orecchiette (little ears), $2.50/lb in your supermarket, are my tops. The best of your sauce (ragus & bologneses best) finds its way into those li'l pockets and make a treat of each bite.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis the Wise?

I thought not. It's not a story the Jedi would tell you. It's a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic, he could save others from death, but not himself.

I completely forgot to mention orecchiette.  Definitely top 3.

I was going to post the same thing.  It depends on the sauce and other things in with the pasta.

Favorite pasta shape is penne - or as my kid says "the kind with the widdle tunnels in it."  Favorite pasta, though, is orzo.

For Spaghetti - It's Angel Hair or Thin Spaghetti

For Mac and Cheese or casserole type dishes (goulash for example) - Bowties all the way.

favorite use of Farfalle/bowties: add a can or two of Italian tunny fish or tuna filets in oil to fry pan of butter, pepper flakes, thin-sliced garlic, juice & zest of lemon. emulsify w a li'l pasta water and toss in bowties, adding parmesan. Best five-minute meal i know

ETA: and a great cold pasta salad, too

Favorite shape if I’m just throwing some pasta is rigatoni

Favorite pasta dish is homemade ravioli or homemade manicotti

Gnocci or whatever the thin tube one is.

Gnocchi is a potato-based pasta that is usually an oval, almost cylindrical shape.

The thin tube might be Bucatini that @gianmarco mentioned earlier. Love those, especially like this! Bucatini Cacio e Pepe Pasta

Gnocchi.
Gnocchi is technically a potato dumpling, not pasta.  But I'll allow it.
I was only defining them, I think they are horrible.
