When Belichick praises a member on the other team before the game (1 Viewer)

Curious if anyone recalls outcomes in years past? Dude is like vader....to me when he goes out of his way to talk about how good someone is in an upcoming game that is his subtle way of saying "you hos are about to be reminded how good I am cause this guy is about to get spanked".

Any owners of previous praised guys have any prior experiences to share? Fitz got it this week:

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said Arizona Cardinals WR Larry Fitzgerald could arguably go down as one of the league's all-time great receivers. "He does everything well. He's a great, great receiver; will go down as one of the all-time greats and might end up being the best one ever, I don't know," Belichick said. "He has size, quickness, ability to separate and gets open, exceptional hands ... It's very hard to defend him. It's very hard to find him and then it's very hard to defend him."

It's very common for him to gush about the other team. Its part of his M.O. To hear him talk, you'd think that they were playing the 85 Bears every week. I wouldnt read anything into it other than he respects Fitzgerald's abilities.

sorry, buddy, but that's :lmao: :lmao: to a pats fan

but to answer your question, while it doesn't have any direct implications for fitz, I fully expect them to play at least a safety over the top of him, if not a cover 2 shell to try to erase him.

I'm sure beli feels taking fitz away is job #1.

I know he ALWAYS praises the other team, but I do think he then turns around and nearly always takes away the thing he praised. Unfortunate thing for cards is there really is only one thing to take away :)

Belichick believes (rightly so) that no matter how good your team and no matter how poor the other team, that there is ALWAYS one or two guys that can beat you...one or two guys that you need to scheme against. So in an effort to make sure his team (and the media) recognize this fact, he weekly finds the obvious guy on the other team that NE needs to shut down....and he reminds everyone (team and media) who that guy is. What he doesn't say is how he plans to shut them down...or if there are others that he is also concerned about. Belichick gets accused of arrogance, and I can understand that, but you won't find any arrogance in what he says as he is always very complimentary of the opposing team.

you probably don't get far in motivating your team if you approach it like fantasy football players, or the casual fan, and just circle the raiders as a win.

any of these teams can beat you, and to be fair to beli, while it's good schtick, it's basically truth that he just makes a point of hyperbolizing a little more than most.

when he's talking to his team I'm sure he's telling them the same thing -- it's not like he's just making #### up, he just focuses on teh positive.

I remember when they played the raiders a year, or two, ago, he made them sound like defending superbowl champions in his weekly radio spot.

Belichik just looks for a way each week to remind his team that this is the NFL and every team is capable of beating every other team. Any Given Sunday, and all that. Could certainly do worse than talking about Fitzgerald.

Let's not go spygate, kolb sucks, fitz is trouble for all who owns him....as a bitter fitz owner i wish they didn't escape with that win :)
