If things keep going south would not be surprised if he steps down in a year for so called "health reasons". At his advanced age it is understandable.

This is seriously one of my biggest pet peeves in politics. I'm pretty sure that, while politicians have stepped down for health reasons, no one has ever done it for "health reasons". That is, a transparently obvious pretense to disguise the fact that they're doing it from a position of political weakness. Lying about it in a way that would fool no one would only compound that weakness.

When NJ Senator Bob Torricelli dropped out of his 2002 re-election bid a few weeks before election day, he didn't offer some lame excuse about health or spending more time with his family. He just said he was dropping out because he was going to lose, and letting Frank Lautenberg run in his place gave the Dems a better chance of holding his seat. It was cynical as hell, but at least he was honest (which was not generally a word people applied to Torricelli).

I have no idea what Biden will do in '24, but I think people are massively underselling the likelihood that he runs again. He ran in '20 because he thought he was the only Dem who could beat Trump (and he was probably right). Not sure the calculation will be all that different in '24. 

But one thing I feel pretty good about predicting: If he doesn't run, he won't cite "health reasons".

Biden's idiotic policies at the Border is allowing more fentanyl into the country. Your logical fallacy bombing doesn't change that.

Your position seems to be if you can't blame Biden for everything, then it prevents one from blaming him for anything at all.

You are denying basic reality on the ground. There are literally migrant caravans heading into this country because they know they can flood on through and no one is going to stop them. Within the ranks of the millions who breached out border illegally, some were drug mules, and some of those were carrying fentanyl. Overwhelming our Southern Border, the local law enforcement there and Border Patrol makes it infinitely harder for them to stop the fentanyl coming in. The record numbers being seized only indicates how much exponentially more is getting through. We are talking billions of lethal doses. Twice as much is being seized under Biden's watch than under Trump's watch. That's not a sign of more efficiency. It's a sign that more fentanyl is being pushed through into America, mostly because the Cartels know Biden is weak and incompetent and will do nothing to stop them.

Biden cannot wash his hands of the blood. Not at the Southern Border, not in Afghanistan, not from within the US by enabling the lack of law and order in major cities. Everything he touches gets worse and worse. Everything he touches turns into another disaster.

People are dying already. Plenty have died under Biden's watch in just the last year and a half.  Your deflections don't change that.

Overwhelming our Southern Border, the local law enforcement there and Border Patrol makes it infinitely harder for them to stop the fentanyl coming in. The record numbers being seized only indicates how much exponentially more is getting through. We are talking billions of lethal doses. Twice as much is being seized under Biden's watch than under Trump's watch. That's not a sign of more efficiency. It's a sign that more fentanyl is being pushed through into America, mostly because the Cartels know Biden is weak and incompetent and will do nothing to stop them.

Biden cannot wash his hands of the blood. Not at the Southern Border, not in Afghanistan, not from within the US by enabling the lack of law and order in major cities. Everything he touches gets worse and worse. Everything he touches turns into another disaster.

People are dying already. Plenty have died under Biden's watch in just the last year and a half.  Your deflections don't change that.

The problem is multi factorial, but border security is unlikely to be a major component, lest we’d see a dramatic change in the trajectory of fentanyl ODs under different administrations. Did you even look at the graph I linked?

Klobuchar would have been a good choice, so much smarter and more aware than Biden. With the country in chaos and going downhill the DNS will do everything in it`s power  to force Biden out. Even Dems are starting to distance themselves from Old Joe.

I think there is 0% chance that Biden seeks a second term. He's a huge liability for the party at this point, he can barely conduct regular interviews anymore. They were able to capture the magic in the last election, but it will be a dumpster fire if he runs again.

I did find this part interesting too including Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. 

The article is clearly pro Democrat and I often see Republicans elevate Ocasio-Cortez as a main player in the party while Democrats sometime don't seem to agree.

At the very least, Biden not running would unleash a profusion of youth and energy into the Democratic field. The non-AARP-card-carrying likes of Pete Buttigieg or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Chris Murphy or whoever it is could stand silently on the soapbox of the Iowa State Fair for five hours, and it would still feel like a refreshing change. They could commence with the Democrats’ long-overdue debate about their next leaders and best ideas.

For what it's worth, the betting sites don't believe Biden will be ousted before 2024 but his odds have dropped to +500 to win the next election. His projected chances of winning sit around 16% right now.

I'd estimate a 25% chance that Biden is the nominee in 2024. (Roughly a 0% chance he steps down before then if he remains in good health.)

If he is the nominee, I think he'd be a strong favorite (75%) over Trump, but a mild underdog to another Republican nominee. It's rare for an incumbent to be an underdog, but it's also rare to run at 82 years of age.

In 2024 there will be 100 million eligible voters with no substantial recollection of Ronald Reagan. The Dems can make a lot of hay with this demographic if they run a candidate who can motivate it to vote like it did in '18 and '20.

I don't know if that candidate is Joe now. He may only work for the yutes if Donald isn't disqualified in the interim.

As someone who voted for him, my friends don't mind sharing these with me.

It's tough as he clearly seems like a guy who cares. You don't say that if you don't care.
