I think you are confused as to who the defender is.No I am asking, it is weird your line is drawn by age and not gender or physical traits (the ability to defend yourself)

No, you are crossing over. If someone calls you a name or spits at you and you hit them you aren't defending yourself. You have went to another level, and went on the attack.I think you are confused as to who the defender is.
Again, you keep going back to where the line is drawn, which I have no issue with, as long as one doesn't draw different lines for different sexes. No, you are crossing over. I agree with this statement, except for the verb choice. No, you are crossing over. If someone calls you a name or spits at you and you hit them you aren't defending yourself. You have went to another level, and went on the attack.
I disagree. Rhonda Rousey would kick both our asses.rascal said:Lol....what a load of crap. Women are inferior to men physically...that's just the way it is.
If I punched a woman I would break her jaw if not worse.
Law student or Googler?Criminal assault isn't a felony.
the use of reasonable force to protect oneself or members of the family from bodily harm from the attack of an aggressor, if the defender has reason to believe he/she/they is/are in danger. The definition of self defense.
Care to try again?
Oh, so now you're just a misogynist? You can't say that around here or anywhere for that matter. Better be ready for protests and social shaming.rascal said:Lol....what a load of crap. Women are inferior to men physically...that's just the way it is.

Coming at you with a knife is a deadly situation. You would have been justified in killing her in self defense, by law.I'm not proud to say this, but I did backhand my first wife when she came at me with a knife while I was holding our 2 yr old daughter.
Another story for another lifetime. I do regret it though as I feel maybe I could have done something else but it was a quick reaction.
For the record a woman coming at me with words or saliva does not bother me.
No, she wouldn't. We've covered this alreadyI disagree. Rhonda Rousey would kick both our asses.
Depends on which head you're trying to punch.Has Bruce Jenner now gained the protection of this no hitting rule?
Agree with this 100 percent. Not only were you protecting yourself, but you were protecting your child.Coming at you with a knife is a deadly situation. You would have been justified in killing her in self defense, by law.
That you only backhanded her is a tribute to you. Don't feel any remorse, at all.

Thanks and I do feel justified in that sense but this is one of those things that just makes you feel lousy when you do it.Agree with this 100 percent. Not only were you protecting yourself, but you were protecting your child.
To be fair, or at least to put this in the appropriate context, she called him what is very most likely the worst name. She's a bigoted, vile, racist who should be publicly ridiculed. She called him a derogatory name only which does not deserve the slap. Only spitting on someone in my book warrants that.
No... just stop...Oh, so now you're just a misogynist? You can't say that around here or anywhere for that matter. Better be ready for protests and social shaming.
"I never hit a woman... but I'd shake the #### outta one!"I'm not saying it was right, but I understand.
only time i ever hit a girl was when i was about 11 years old. this redhead in my apartment complex was teasing me because i leaving during a neighborhood wiffleball game. we were getting killed by the opposing team - hers - and it was time for me to go home for dinner. she was teasing me and it got to me for whatever reason. i had never hit anyone aside from my older brother but i swung at her. my fist hit the side of her head and left ear. it was an almost comically lame attempt but i struck her. we all stood silent as a group, acknowledging the gravity of the situation, before my brother showed up telling me it was time to go inside. the redhead (Leigh) worked up some tears and told him that i hit her. she convinced him that the right thing to do was to hit me back. he had another boy hold my arms while he punched me in the stomach a few times.
as an adult, i'm not sure that hitting a woman - or anyone really - is called for unless it is under extreme circumstances.
Very true.![]()
Sorry, I don't mean to outright laugh at what may have been a bad childhood memory, but I find "kid justice" to be fascinating and entertaining. Because, honestly, it seems to often make the most sense in a given situation.
First routine i remember from Rock back in the 80s was "You know the difference between men & women? We can knock you the #### out. For all women's progress and equality and, in many ways, just plain superiority, the fact remains - Barney Fife can beat the livin' #### out of your greatest champion". Don't think he does that bit anymore"I never hit a woman... but I'd shake the #### outta one!"
