When making lineup decisions (1 Viewer)

This is in no way a WDIS post. I just want to see what the Shark Pool thinks. When making your lineup decision do you insert a player that's been hot and bench a player that's been mediocre? In Football we throw out stats and look at matchups every week. Then there's the "always start your studs" rule. But when do you take the risk and bench that player who was supposed to produce for your team and insert a player that's been lighting it up?

I've been burned before. Sitting a supposed starter only to watch them blow up. Then all those points are left on my bench. What do you guys think?

I usually stick with the guy who is cold, but "should" be a stud, and get burned when the hot player on my bench stays hot.

I want to try the George Costanza method of doing the opposite. For example, I'm leaning toward mixing it up this week & starting Bess over Fitzgerald.

As with most of these types of question it all depends upon the players under consideration.

There is also a fine line between going with the hot hand and chasing the dragon.

I think Mike X Williams is a good example of this situation. Does he really have a hot hand or are many people going to get burned this week (and going forward) chasing last weeks points?

The decision of whether to start him depends, as always, depends on what your other options are.

ETA: FWIW I think BMW is the real deal, hot hand + legit talent.
