One lie after another.  It was Reagan who dragged his Surgeon General into issuing a report on AIDS.  Of course there were battles over the budget, but the fact is the budget for AIDS research grew substaintially every year Reagan was in office.  You continue to bring in misinformation.  If AIDS were such a big issue for the Dems, why was it not a discussion point in the 1984 debates?  The liberal hero Mondale had plenty of chances to bring it up and never did.  It is asinine hatred from liberals to blame the spread of AIDS on Reagan.  It is a horrible disease that spread mostly in this country by unprotected gay sex by people who were well aware of the risk and how to protect themselves from it.  More or less government spending would not have prevented that.  

Reagan advocacy for education, prevention and support for victims could have been done forcefully without spending an additional funding. Reagan remained silent while guys like Falwell talked about God's wrath. He let his personal friends, like Hudson, die without lifting a finger. He could have done *something* publicly about an epidemic to quell the hysteria and remove the stigma for those afflicted. Remember "Silence =  Death" ? His conspicuous silence is a colossal failure of character on the part of a leader who is revered for it.
