When will Houston get the call.. (1 Viewer)

Blaylock and Barlow have proven over the first two games that they are not the answer at RB.

IHouston did quite good last season without a QB and with no one respecting the Jets passing game , now that Pennington is back and doing extremely well i think Houston would be much much better then either Barlow or Blaylock ( those two guys are labeled back up that s it )

With the money Barlow is getting, and the draft pick they gave up to get him, Barlow will be the starter the rest of the season.

Houston may be activated this week. I hope he is, would love to see him or Washington get a shot.

I wouldn't expect much, Barlow is still going to be in the mix. It is absolutely brutal watching this run game at work. Hopefully it improves as the rookie lineman gain experience.

No Jets RB is worth a damn with that O-line. Especially not Houston, who's not half as talented as Barlow (aint saying much)

Let's not forget that the 50% of the linemen who are not rookies have been hurt (and are still sub par at this writing).

I saw a something in the news blogger about the HC saying he would give him a shot this week; I am not sure if he meant starting but at this point almost anything is better than watching him on the sidelines.

I watched the entire Jets/Patriots game, I think the O-line is the problem, not the RB.
Problem is both. Barlow/Blaylock rarley hit the hole appropriately. There were other points where the hole closed too quickly. The O-line will get better as the rookies gain experience and the line gels.

The problem is that Houston doesn't play ST's. Niether does Barlow. Washington will be activated, because of his important role on ST's. The Jets won't activate 4 RB's in any one game. So, two things have to happen. Blaylock will have to be inactive for Houston to suit up. Until Washington gets the CS's confidence that he can replace Blaylock as the CoP third down RB, Houston won't be activated in a game.

If I had my way, Blaylock would be the RB that is inactive, but Mangini seems to want to stick with him in that CoP/3rd down role, and that makes it impossible for Houston to get any playing time.

The Jets O line has shown, even with the two rooks, that it can pass protect well enough, but the run blocking is not good at all so far, and that is an understatement. A cut back runner like Blaylock has no place on the field behind such a poor run blocking O line, while guys like Barlow and Houston can break tackles, and are much better suited to running the ball behind a line that can't create any running lanes.

Not having Kendall healthy hurts the running attack as well.... he's the best run blocker on the O line. Once he and Teague are healthy enough to play, the Jets running attack should improve, but it's a FF waste land even when they do, as far as RB's are concerned. The Jets O line still needs a RT and a RG that can run block, and that isn't going to happen this year.

Barlow hasn't even gotten a full start, and we're already calling for Houston?

Houston was a healthy scratch from last week's games - just think about that for a moment.

Two games? Overreact much? Houston average 3.7 YPC over 81 carries last year. It's not exactly world-beating. In my eyes, the trouble in NY really lies with the offensive line. Run blocking and pass blocking are separate skills. Doesn't look the the Jets' line does too hot of a job run blocking. I don't think it would matter if they put Barry Sanders in the backfield right now.

Not an over reaction at all.... Houston did very well behind an O line that was MUCH worse than this version at the end of last year, and there are many Jet homers who would like to see him have a chance to prove himself. Blaylock is a third down RB, period. Like I said, I think Washington is better than Blaylock in that role, in fact I'm sure of it. Washington is not only faster than Blaylock, he is better between the tackles as well. I'll go so far as to say that Blaylock is hurting this team.....both Washington and Houston are more deserving of touches. The Jets need to use an RB that can break arm tackles.... and Blaylock can't. He is easilly the worst RB of the foursome. That isn't over reaction, it's fact.
