When will the JETS score their next rushing TD? (1 Viewer)

What has it been - 5 weeks since they've had a rushing TD? Or does it just seem like it? This is getting ridiculous for the supposed vaunted rushing attack. And does Greene get extended doghouse time after that fumble?

Teams have been focusing on stopping the run AND Sanchez has been throwing long Tds. Until a team shuts him down and eases off the run, this team will throw. I don't think they're that worried about running the ball right now and we should stop thinking of them as a power run offense like they were last year. However - the oline is not as good as it was last year at run blocking. So that hurts too.FINALLY - probably not a stay in the doghouse now but if it becomes a problem, maybe. OTOH, who else is there? McKnight?

The Jets want to use Greene against tired defenses in the fourth quarter to salt away a close game and the fumble makes it difficult to have faith in him in the fourth quarter.

Since Greene doesn't factor into the passing game it makes it tough to use him early in the game because it limits the offense. LT is a dual threat, not a great runner but serviceable and with him in the lineup they can use the whole playbook. And since LT has been incredibly reliable throughout his career in not fumbling they need to also keep him in the game late to make sure nothing stupid happens in the running game like yesterday.

I think LT is getting a little over used. I would like to see what would happen if the Jets tried to use Greene significantly more earlier in the game to beat on the other defense and see what a fresher LT could do against defenses in late in the game.

I am not sure they can manage that but I would like to see them try.

ETA: And they miss Faneca far more than they thought they would.

Last year /= this year. Anyone counting on the Jets being 60-40 run is not paying attention. That being said, I think they need to run the ball a bit more in certain situations.

Not true. Faneca was the clear weak link on that line and he almost got Sanchez killed multiple times last season. Slauson has been more than adequate at guard. The primary culprit (if you want to call it that) behind the weaker running game is the fact that Sanchez is throwing the ball a lot more.

The disappointing running attack is more a function of the entire offensive line not playing as well as last year (the Faneca loss is not the reason, as the Jets almost always run right) and the fact that teams are loading up the box to stop the run... and so the Jets are having more success passing the ball. Once teams start to respect Sanchez more, the running game should conversely open up some more.

In other words, the Jets need to use the pass to set up the run, not the other way around. That goes against Rex Ryan's grain, and he can be stubborn. He has stated several times that he doesn't care if the opponent knows the Jets will run, he thinks (or hopefully thought) the Jets could dictate, and they can't, they need to adjust to what teams are giving the offense. Now, that means using the pass to set up the run.

I am worried though about Damian Woody possibly out with a reported sprained MCL. He is one of the best run-blockers in the NFL. His replacement, Wayne Hunter is not very good...

I don't know if I buy any of this. I don't see teams putting 8 in the box. They are respecting Sanchez and the the pass. The O-line is just not opening holes in the running game - at all.

Just for the record

Greene: 3 fumbles (2 lost, 1 out of bounds)

LT: 3 fumbles (2 recovered, 1 out of bounds)

The Problem is, The Jets can't get the ball in the endzone early and get a decent lead on anyone...The Jets came out this week and thru plenty to set up the run.. And I still don't like the Brad Smith stuff in the redzone. They have opportunities each week with good field position and have been settling for FG's or missed FG's.....They finally got a lead this week and then Fumble.... Plus Woody went down. And regarding that fumble - It was a mixed up exchange more than an outright fumble of the ball...Even though Greene missed the audible and didn't get the ball cleanly, I don't think this is a doghouse play - not now, not when they need him going into the cold months..

I don't know what the stats say right now but, from watching the games Detroit, Cleveland and Houston had some AWESOME DL play that coinciced with the way those games played out.

Suh was a monster... Mario Williams was a complete mismatch over the Jets backup RT and Cleveland was stout.....

Sometimes the other team gets the credit as well.....

I just wish the Jets would stick to a lot more Straight ahead Bull runs instead of the Brad Smith stuff or other trickery.... Pound Green a lot more and try to wear down a team.

I feel as if the Jets talked up Ground and Pound so much they almost trick themselves out of it.

Sounds not too serious.... He's been sending positive Twitter reports..But, they may hold him out this week on a short week anyway.

I would think they score more than one Rush TD this week. CIN is horrible

rolling with LT this week :scared:

:lmao:

McKnight has never lived up to the hype, and I don't expect him to ever be a good pro back.....and they kept him over Danny Woodhead!

It's week 12 of his rookie year. I think it's a little soon to call it a career.

I wouldn't call it either though he's not the same type of runner as Greene and won't wear anyone down and has had so few reps that sticking him in with a large dose could be very bad.I wouldn't want to have to depend upon him right now and honestly several of the backs - Woodhead, Chauncy Washington - could have been a safer backup then McKnight is right now. Both outplayed him in camp and in practice but McKnight is someone the front office and staff are hanging their hat on so he's going to get a longer leash.

McKnight, Ducasse and Wilson -three important picks for the Jets who are having rough rookie years.

Amazing to think the Jets were smart enough to scoop up DW and watch him be a preseason monmster, have a couple flashes of success in the reg season, and then let him go for...wait for it....David Clowney!
