Minnesota needs to pick up their phone. Two calls, one to the Steelers and one to Favre telling him to enjoy retirement.
You'd rather trade away good value for a QB, who has some serious ?'s, when you have one that was not too far from MVP caliber, and knows the team/scheme?

Yes?.

I realize the Russell situation is far-fetched, but if you had to pick an organization to draft a QB early, pay him the big money while not giving him any real weapons (DMAC is an incomplete in my book) or protection and then cut him a few year later only to have him blow up on another team...who would you think that organization would be?My point is...that is exactly the kind of thing Al Davis would do and especially when it would be part of a deal when they take the risk on a guy with baggage.
I would imagine Russell's contract is less than attractive (esp. as a 2nd or 3rd string option for the forseeable future) for any other NFL team. And IMO the only thing 'blowing up' related to JR is his gutETA - as much as I despise the steelers as a team - I'm feeling for their fans. This has been one brutal off season for them to endure.

Are you loony?I'd take a rough off-season and a couple Super Bowls over the past half-decade, compared to the seasons our teams have had over that half-decade.

You'd rather trade away good value for an elite QB who is in the prime of his career, who has some serious ?'s, when you have one that was not too far from MVP caliber, and knows the team/scheme and isn't even sure to be coming back THIS year let alone next year or the year after?
Fixed. And Yes - if I were the Vikings I'd be looking into the cost of Big Ben for sure.

How do you know he is in the prime of his career? With all this he could be entering a nose-dive, for all we know.

I'd roll the dice on Ben Roethlisberger having more years as a productive NFL QB in his future than Brett Favre does... It's a stretch, I know, but I'm a gambler.

Minnesota does not have a top 10 pick. Are the Steelers interested in Colt McCoy? I doubt it since his skill set is nothing like Big Bens. How can a coach that has been stressing character since the love boat incident just turn around and sell Big Ben to the Fans? I don't know if he can.

Yes, that's a good gamble, but I'm pretty sure Pittsburgh wouldn't accept a trade of Favre for Ben.

I wouldn't count Denver out of this either. They've got #11, Quinn and Orton. If not I'm pretty sure Denver will be interested in Tebow.

I think he gets dealt to Oakland. They have already set a precedent with the Holmes trade and it would be hyprocritical if they keep Ben. |

i imagine the "not dealt" option will be very popular with "wishful thinking steeler fan".
Why do you say that when by reading the Big Ben threads, one can easily see that the Steeler fans are just as mad at Ben than any other fans. Big talk around town the past week have been about getting rid of Ben. :(Or are you just :lmao:
The only Steeler fans I see that are mad at BR are ACP and Crosseyed.
The vast majority of Steeler fans are mad at Ben. I am not opposed to a trade for a reasonable value -- the question is what is reasonable value?
A Lombardi trophy? :lmao: I kid, I kid.

Hindsight is always 20/20 (and yeah, I DID just make that up), but the motivation for the fans who wanted Ben gone had nothing at all to do with his play on the field. We already knew he was a great QB. I'm just glad he has kept his nose clean, seems to have a better attitude, and hopefully has turned his off-the-field life around. We'll see. So far, so good.
