Surprised that Cult of Personality is that high. Not that I think it’s unjustified - it’s a great song - just that I didn’t expect it. LC were also off my radar or I might have picked Open Letter (To a Landlord).

Thanks. I based my statement on what you'd had in the last update and just added today's to those two artists. I only have these as a snapshot in time at the end, not as real-time updates, but I do have these in another document that would be easy for me to go back and confirm where we are now. I'll do that in a little bit.

These guys are the best psych rock band of the past 10 years. I saw them in Charlotte ~7 years ago. Probably the best $8 I've ever spent in my life. Amazing show. Sadly, they disbanded last year, but there's 6 albums and a couple EPs.

About halfway through collating the lists, I posted that most of the top five songs were a surprise to me at that time. One of those I was referring to was Cult of Personality, and another was Fade to Black. Not saying they stayed up there, though.

So a nice little showing today by Mr. Young. For my contribution... I like all things Neil. Acoustic, Electric, Springfield, CSNY, Crazy Horse, POTR, Weird Neil... whatever... but my favorite Neil is Ditch Trilogy Neil. When he went into a depressed state and basically shunned the limelight, and just basically wrote and performed what he felt (I mean, he's always done this, but it was really magnified here.) But the stuff he came out with - the albums Time Fades Away, On The Beach, and Tonight’s The Night - are amongst my favorites from him. And the live recordings from this era are fantastic.
I picked this one from the recently released Roxy: Tonight's the Night Live - a 1973 small venue show where he and the Santa Monica Flyers (basically Crazy Horse plus Ben Keith) played the Tonight's the Night album, which they had just finished recording. He plays Tonight's the Night twice, opening and closing the show with it, and to me, the song has never sounded better.

Listening to the playlist today with OH, since he's off work. He sang along with the Specials and Ramones tracks. We both surprisingly liked the James McCartney cover of "Old Man," though OH asked me when it started if it was Aimee Mann. 
Got to the Krokus cover of "Rockin' In the Free World." OH has a good friend John Houlihan who hosts this podcast, and apparently whenever John had any musician of note on it, he would start by asking them the questions, "What's your favorite Krokus tape?" Usually to a befuddled response...
I remember OH telling me years ago that when John had Richie Ramone on, he asked who was Richie's favorite drummer, and then they both said almost simultaneously something like, "...other than Ringo of course." Punk drummers love Ringo. Seriously.

I obviously haven't been locked into this thing, but I'd have guessed Fade To Black would be a good sleeper. You're going to have the thrash crowd that spreads their picks among several different tracks, but those trending towards their ballads in this crowd strike me as ones that would gravitate towards it rather than Unforgiven and Nothing Else Matters. Although I would not have guessed at this point those are the only two selections from the black album. Still 2 days to go though...

Me too, but I've always looked at vocals as another instrument. I can't see how those that view the voice as the lead will listen to DMB and smash the **heart** I'd expect them to say how the hell do you listen to this yodeling yelping nonsense.

Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane -- Gang of Youths (Eephus). Stunningly well crafted and compelling. Looking forward to the Eephus Story on this one.
Roller -- April Wine (Mister CIA). This is as Grand Funk as Canadians could get. I only know the Nature of the Beast album and anything else that ended up on MTV, which this didn't.
Commando -- Ramones (OTB). Another excellent Ramones track that must not have been on the compilation that my freshman year neighbor played EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Caravan -- Rush (Sullie). Clockwork Angels is one of the few Rush albums I have not heard. In this case, mainly because I had a very young child when it came out. They still had it after all those years.

“Everybody Knows” is a pretty (yet) somber song, which is not exactly atypical for Cohen. There’s a bit of both defiance of several aspects of the world mixed with (rather sarcastic) acceptance that you can’t expect that behavior to change. That’s how it goes. Everybody knows!

When I gave Krista my list I hadn't looked hard enough for this link to their SNL performance of this.
I was behind the curve of hearing of them, and this performance absolutely blew me away one Saturday night (I was actually watching while posting here, I know so pathetic, and started a thread about it. In short order they became a top 20 ever group for me.

I don't think Johnny is buried there. There's a big statue of him playing the guitar but I'm pretty sure I read he actually was cremated.
Dee Dee is buried in Hollywood Forever though. His headstone is a big slab of black granite so there were lots of lipstick marks on it. Visitors left him cigarettes along with the flowers in case he wakes up and wants a smoke.
It's kind of a cool place to visit in LA if you like old movies.

In addition to bandmate Johnny, Dee Dee Ramone, a.k.a. Douglas Glenn Colvin, bass player and songwriter for legendary punk band The Ramones, was laid to rest there when he died in the summer of 2002.
However, perhaps the least well-known of all residents who call Hollywood Forever their eternal home is a family of five black ducks, now known as the “Ramones Ducks,” who are trained to visit Dee Dee’s grave every day.
L.A. musician/actor Coyote Shivers and his partner Pleasant Gehman needed a home for the ducks who originally belonged to a friend of theirs who could no longer care for them. The pair decided to re-home their little gang of ducks to live amongst the other urban wildlife (other ducks, geese, squirrels, cats, swans, etc.) in the splendidly manicured memorial park.
After daily visits to chill with their five fine feathered friends, Shivers and Gehman have now trained their ducks to come running to Dee Dee’s grave when they play “Duckskreig Bop,” a quack-filled version of The Ramones’ famous song, “Blitzkreig Bop.”
Obviously, they had to name the ducks accordingly — Johnny, Joey, Dee Dee, Tommy, and Sheena.

This may be the most ditkaburgery pick she's made yet. She covers both her French Hip Hop and Ed Sheeran bases with a single pick.
Sheeran's appearance on the chorus lifts the song up even though he's singing in a different language from the rest of the song. Personally, I could do without the 90 second coda bringing it down.
Sydney band Gang of Youths are one of my favorite current bands. Songwriter David Le'aupepe is equally adept with the intimate and the grandiose. They put out deep, beautifully sequenced albums. Their most recent album angel in realtime was my AOTY last year; it's a concept album about the life and death of Le'aupepe's father.
"Do Not Let Your Spirit Wane" doesn't come from this album though. It's from 2018's Go Farther in Lightness which is a magnificent double album. If I was trying to promote the band or get more likes, I probably should have picked one of their more uptempo numbers but this slow burner moves me deeply.
I saw them at the Fillmore last year. Mrs. Eephus bailed so ditkaburgers went with her old man. It was an epic show; I ended up getting Covid from it but it was totally worth it.

It was a good time, and it was great meeting you and hanging out. I enjoyed all of the bands/artists you named. Lucius and Beck were a lot of fun too. We exited out of the venue a different way than earlier in the day, and we got a little mixed up trying to find the car in the dark after the festival, but we finally found it. My feet were so tired at the end of the night!
