Same here. I used to work tax seasons at his accounting firm. I remember all the late ones pouring in. So much fun. But the money was good.
He was so kind and patient.
Many of the big Rush fans had their picks saved for the top
They only call themselves that when they're in America. The English Beat (and that’s what they call themselves) are still around, playing gigs at local dives in Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. A friend of mine and I are going to try and go next time. Should be fun.
Yeah...thanks. I thought I'd covered this before, but that's the reason we're calling them what their actual band name is.
The artist I referred to as "this countdown's Tom Petty" was Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds, who ended up with 10 songs and NO repeats. The anti-Ace Award, perhaps the 2 of clubs? In any case, I'm glad I didn't end up having "into My Arms" on my list and instead kept it on my last five out, so that Nick and crew could take this honor.

The Beat and The English Beat are two separate bands these days.
Dave Wakeling has lived in California for years and performs as the English Beat with a band of UK expats and Americans. They tour the US constantly.
The Beat was the name of the UK based group led by Ranking Roger. Since Roger's death in 2019 they've played some shows with Roger's son Ranking Junior fronting the band.

Cave also sang on two other songs by The Birthday Party and The Boys Next Door.
That's neat, but the question was "Save It For Later," which I assume meant as the original version, not something that might have happened in recent years.
@ditkaburgers' song is credited to BTS but is a solo effort by Jungkook, the youngest of the group's seven members. It's a gorgeous lush Pop song that's slower and dreamier than the typical ditkaburgers selection. She said she loved this song before she was a big fan of BTS.
Neither of us can find a Zevon cover. I think you're good.@Mrs. Rannous and @Val Rannous , a little confirmation on this? When I put togehter this question for the SAWMC!!!111, I thought we had no Warren Zevon covers and chose him since he had a lot of popular songs in the US countdown. But then I realized I'd stupidly chosen an artist as a "misdirection" whose songs I knew not at all. I have not seen any of his songs chosen, to my knowledge, but could you please confirm I didn't miss any?
10. It’s DejaVoteVu All Over Again…Again.
Which of the following also-rans in prior countdowns will NOT have a song with a cover version in this countdown: (a) Cream, (b) George Michael, (c) Townes Van Zandt, (d) Warren Zevon, or (e) none of the above (all will be covered)?

Madame interviewing Wendy O. Williams, on the other hand (pun unintentional), could happen anywhere.ONLY in this thread could we select four Rush songs and discuss The Oak Ridge Boys on Solid Gold in the same day.Good day to have Wendy O'Williams and Lemmy on my bingo card.

Why Reform School Girls - and Chained Heat, for that matter - didn't make the top 100 '80s films, I'll never understand.the full Wendy O experience are not complete 'til viewing "Reform School Girls"

I still have so much work to do on the sociopolitical implications that surround my number one that I'm glad you didn't. What a fascinating history of the birth of the song.

I didn't think Kiss's "I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night" was that deep of a song.
I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night
not familiar with Gene, eh?
I believe Rush has a ghost of a chance. Here’s the next group of bands, all over 150 points

gotta think that Rush and Jimi have the best chance at breaking into the top 10 here

I Wanna Rock & Roll All Night
Great song from my youth. I liked Kiss as a young, young man and then got back into them my sophomore year of high school. The year was '88. Music wasn't really hopping back then. Hair metal ruled, Kiss fit that bill, and I went a little retro with it.
Most music aficionados will tell you Kiss sucks. I like songs like "Gold Gin," "Strutter," "I Wanna Rock and Roll All Night" and others. I was maybe a little simplistic as a youth and never really understood Gene Simmons's utter cynicism. I just liked some of the tracks.
You'll have to wait until tomorrow.
You're a bit too excitable, boy.No Zevon covers? This countdown is lacking!!!
I saw them once in the late '70s. I took my brother and a couple of his friends to see the concert since all three of them were KISS fanatics, and I was the only one who could drive. I'm almost positive AC/DC opened. My ears have never been the same.saw them three times back in the day - once with Bob Seger warming up, weird combo but it worked
