I am looking at several different opportunities in several different cities.  Which cities get your vote?  Must have a good school system.  A good healthcare scene would be nice to have.  I would like to be close to the mountains or the beach.  Has to be within a days drive of New Orleans for my wife.

I believe Texas, Florida, and Tennessee do not have state income tax so that’s a plus unless the property taxes are outrageous.

Dallas isn't going to get you near mountains or beach. Austin has some nice hills, schools snd health care. Long drive to New Orleans. North Houston around the Woodlands (no mountains but close to Galvaston).

Tennessee has a high sales tax rate.

You include Birmingham and Nashville. Why not Huntsville?

Other - Austin.

Edit: someone mentioned the drive from ATX to NO is "long".  Not really.  Did it 4-5 times a year when we lived in Austin and it's not a bad drive at all.  Wife's family lives about 45 minutes west of NO so we drove out a lot.

I am 45 minutes west of NO.  Uncle Fred?

Memphis???  I mean it has a couple of good BBQ joints.  But it's a giant wasteland of crime and poverty.  Shouldn't be on any want to live there list.

Charlotte, Nashville, Dallas, Tampa in that order.

Remind me what you do - supply chain?  My guess would be Charlotte, Dallas and Atlanta will give the most job opportunities.

I’m not trying to sell you on Atlanta but location wise I think it’s about as good as you can get.  Two hours from mountains, 5 hours from Gulf or Atlantic, major airport, lots of sports (college and pro), good schools in the burbs and several quality state Universities.

But we have enough people and traffic so please pick somewhere else.

If you are looking for good healthcare I would suggest moving to Europe.

If being near mountains or beach is important, then Charlotte is a good choice. Close to both. 3 hours to Myrtle Beach and an hour from the mountains.  And Lake Norman is right there.

Plenty of job opps and stuff to do, likely without as much of the hassle as some of the larger cities.

I really like it here in Jax, but when my job search was looking bleak, Tampa was my #1 choice.

Tampa area is so spread out though that your living options will depend greatly on where you work.

Atlanta has a lot of benefits but the traffic really never seems to end.

I gave Charlotte the edge over Nashville to get you closer to the beach, but that drive to New Orleans won't be fun if you plan to do it frequently

I voted for Memphis (homer pick!) We are right on the Mississippi River and we are only an hour or 2 from Reelfoot Lake and the Smokies are 7-8ish hours away. Personally, r Charlotte checks the beaches and mountains boxes but Charlotte is going to long ### drive to New Orleans and Dallas isn't close to any mountains I think. Atlanta probably checks most of your boxs. Not far from mountains, would be a shorter drive to NO than Nashville or Charlotte or Tampa.

You just described Raleigh area.
