It does feel like Christian McCaffrey will be connected to many league winners and losers this year.

If you trade Ekeler for him and McCaffrey comes back strong, that's a huge win.

If you refuse an Ekeler trade and Ekeler plays well while McCaffrey misses most of the season and is ineffective in games he plays, that's a big loss.

Part of what makes fantasy football fun. But it's a challenge.

I wouldn't trade him for Ekeler but that's the right way to think about it. Who would you trade him for straight up right now? Somewhere in that Kamara/Pollard/Najee tier of low-end RB2s?

Speculating on injuries is soo difficult. If I had the 3 players you just mentioned— I would move Pollard or Najee for cmac. Kamara is tough as I personally view him as a low end RB1. I’d rather have his production weekly than sacrifice it for the ambiguity of a better RB1 for an unknown amount of games

Agreed. I like the real world practical angle there of "Would you trade him for ________?" as that's the situation people are in.

Ekeler? Austin Ekeler, backup running back for the Commanders? C’mon. If McCaffrey plays 1 game this year he’s more valuable than Austin Ekeler.

I'm not saying trade him for Ekeler. I was using an example from a previous poster that suggested Ekeler.

The real question is who would you trade for if you have McCaffrey?

And who is the best player you'd be willing to trade away to get McCaffrey?

I would consider it but I’d think long and hard. Chances are good we don’t see full strength CMC at all this season. Ekeler at least gives you some weeks of production.

Probably not seeing full usage of McCaffrey until after the week 9 bye. Basing this on past injury not healed after a month, likely longer heal time for reaggrevation (rest + conditioning) and with Achilles tendinitis on the table I would expect a slow cautious ramp up.

He's 28, he's got lot of miles on the odometer, and there's an Achilles thing now. Which, we have to assume, has gotten worse after 1 game. Concerning.

Very possible the 49ers have him raring to go after 4 weeks, it's as likely as any other scenario.

I think it's also very possible that the 49ers don't rush him back, especially if Jordan Mason is gonna Olandis Gary this whole thing. And then maybe when he comes back, maybe he gets less work, because they want him for the playoffs.

it's week 2, he has a wonky Achilles, should people be expecting him to have as many touches during fantasy playoffs? I dunno, seems fair to wonder.

I’m quite bearish on McCaffrey but I’d send an Ekeler for him in a heartbeat barring a desperate need to start Ekeler for the next several weeks. Also bearish on Ekeler fwiw though.

I tend to err heavily on the side of high end starters and shots at a high end starter over low upside wr3/rb3 types though

He got traded in my league today.

Team A gets: CMC, Shaheed
Team B gets: Montgomery, Lazard

I'd rather be on the CMC side personally, but I also don't trust Lazard for a second. Seemed fair.

Well I certainly wouldn’t value him as the number 5 overall running back for ROS, which is where Football! guys has him currently in our league dominator. That includes an update 10 minutes ago. The risk is too high.
