For those of us in start 2 QB leagues bye weeks can be a real challenge. Not a whole lot of options those weeks. So would you rather plug in Huard or Frerotte for a couple of games? Do either one of them figure to remain the starter for any period of time? When do the coaches go back to Croyle and Jackson?
Ever notice how you can go play golf after a really long layoff and play surprisingly well, but when you return a week later, suddenly all of your bad habits appear again?I think the same pattern is true for quarterbacks who don't really have the talent to play longterm. Gus Frerotte had a halfway-decent week against Carolina, but I expect him to take a major step back in his second start. If not this start, then it will be the next one when teams start exposing his weaknesses again and the adrenaline of starting wears off.Let's face it. We know what Gus brings to the table. He's a solid backup to come-in in the second half or start one game, but he's not a long-term starter and never has been. There is a reason he has never been able to hold on to a starting job and he won't likely hold on to this one either. In my opinion, Tavaris Jackson was not the cause of the Vikings losses; the cause in game one was the Green Bay Packers and in game two, it was a horrible offensive game plan.Damon Huard isn't much better, but I would think he would be the better of the two. Huard has played well at times as a starter, but because the team insists on bringing along Brodie Croyle, he hasn't been given the reigns. He probably gives his team a better chance to win than Croyle, who I've never been high on.I'd go with Huard over Gus, but both are pretty bad prospects. The degree of seperation probably isn't going to be much.
