Which is correct in this situation: Pleaded vs. Pled (1 Viewer)

Which is correct?

  • Pleaded

    Votes: 10 34.5%
  • Pled

    Votes: 19 65.5%

  • Total voters
    29
Which would you use if you were saying the following sentence:

The defendant pleaded not guilty.

or

The defendant pled not guilty.

Pled is more common but pleaded is technically correct according to various style guides, Bryan Garner (legal writing expert), etc.
