Fraud = not as good as their record and misses the playoffs

Real deal = better than their record and make a run at the playoffs.

Wins first = wins first.

Fraud: Redskins Cupcake schedule with average results

Real deal: NY Jets Tough schedule and will turn it around

Wins first: Miami Dolphins Denver and KC in their next 4 games.

NFC East still has 0 wins over non-division, non-NFC West teams. The Redskins are probably a fraud but that doesn't mean they won't make the playoffs.

Indy has a realistic shot at winning next week. A

mong losing teams I like the Bears and the Jets, they both opened with absolutely brutal schedules over the first five weeks. Jets had Dallas, Jax, Oakland, Baltimore, New England, and the Bears with Atlanta, New Orleans, Green Bay, Carolina, Detroit.

I know everyone is all over San Diego's talent year in and year out, but they are still coached by Norv Turner, hence they are a fraud.

For the fraud, under normal circumstances, I'd say a tie between WAS and SF, but given SF's division, I just don't see anyone overtaking them to get to the playoffs. Are they as good as their record? No. But are they still better than the detritus that populates the rest of the NFC West? Absolutely. WAS is a good story, but their division is still better than SF. SD might be the candidate that misses the playoffs, though. OAK is showing a lot of improvement and Hue has everyone bought in. I could easily see OAK taking the division with SD narrowly missing a WC spot. SD doesn't have any good wins yet with four wins over some of the worst teams (MIN, KC, MIA, and DEN) while OAK has wins vs. NYJ and HOU.

I don't think any of the teams from the real deal group is going to make the playoffs, though DAL seems to be in the best position given the flawed teams in front of them. Seems like one WC spot in the NFC is already etched for DET or GB, leaving one other to fight over with a pretty wide open field at this point. In the AFC, the second tier of teams is just much better than the NFC (though I think GB and NO for sure are better than anyone in the AFC and DET might be). It's possible someone like the Jets can make a run, but they are too flawed for me to give them much credit. OAK already has a head to head tiebreaker on them, which could be the deciding factor.

For the 0-4 teams, I think Indy wins this weekend vs. Cincy. No way STL comes close to GB and I don't see MIA with Moore as a big test for NYJ. But I agree with someone else. If Indy doesn't do it now, they're staring at 0-9.

Why no San Fran in the fraud dept?
Clearly they aren't fraudulent. Either that, or I forgot them. Not sure I can fix the poll without goofing it up now.
They were the first team to mind when I read the first question. I bet I'm not the only one.
so far only one game has been a opponent within our own weak NFC West division if that's what your getting at....but ya, I wouldn't crown us or anything yet.

Dallas would be 4-0 against some pretty good teams if it weren't for "bad Romo". I think they are the real deal.
They going to get a new QB then?BTW, I picked Dallas too...but the would be 4-0 if nto for "bad Romo" line is funny.

That's interesting - 2 of the 3 wins for the Redskins and Giants are against the Rams and Cardinals. What an advantage it is every year to play that garbage division (AFC North is playing them too).

Agreed. People will say they also could've easily lost to SF and Wash, but from what I saw they weren't really thoroughly outplayed in those games the way the Jets & Lions were vs. them.

Fraud = I did none. thought about the Redskins, but I think they make the playoffs by winning the division.

Real deal = Also did none. the Cowboys with Romo and the young OLine are not going to improve from where they are which is a mid pack. Falcons and Bears for some reason are just not as good as they were last year

Wins first = Went with the Rams to win first since they are coming off a bye week to get things fixed and to regroup.

It's absolutely an advantage. An extra win or two can be the difference between .500 and a playoff spot, or betweent he wild-card round and a first-round bye. The past 3 years the NFC division paired with the NFC West has sent two teams to the playoffs, with one team securing a first-round bye. (Giants+Eagles in 2008, Vikings+Packers in 2009, Falcons+Saints in 2010). Those six teams were 22-2 against the NFC West in their respective seasons.

Just curious, are you predicting they win one of thier next three games? @Packers, @Cowboys, Saints

Redskins running away with this. Sorry Skins fans, maybe next year.
 Most 'Skins fans had an 8-8 preseason prediction as this teams ceiling. While the 3-1 start is nice, the team (mostly the offense) has still looked bad at times (like you'd expect an 8-8 team to look). Most of the fans, at least on this board, haven't gone overboard with the current record. Most will concede it's still a long shot to make the playoffs, despite the weak division.Because of the criteria you set for voting, I voted for the Redskins, although I don't know enough about San Fran's situation to accurately rule them out.

The Skins are the easy scape goat of the 1 loss options right now. They may in fact be the least talented team of that group so it's not a surprise that they would win this poll very easily. I'd say it's a toss up for me right now between them and SF. SF laid it on TB but other than that they really haven't looked strong despite winning 3 other games. It's going to be a real test this week as they go into Det to face the 5-0 Lions. What's ironic is that the 2 teams who are probably the worst of that group, Wash and SF, are going to have the easiest road to the playoffs because their divisions are pretty awful this year.

I'm going to go with SD. They've been struggling on both sides of the ball, haven't won any quality games and the Raiders will eventually take that division, throwing them to compete with AFC wildcard wolves.

Tough to admit, but the Chargers are looking really shaky despite their record. Defense could not get a stop except against Orton (who was playing terribly), and Rivers is not looking as sharp as usual. Maybe he'll warm up a bit but it was not a good feeling watching Tebow come out of nowhere and almost take the win when they had no business being in the game. Very close games against Miami, KC and Vikings as well, all of whom are struggling. They need a quality win against a strong opponent soon (ie Jets or GB). The next couple of weeks are going to be a very good measure of what kind of team this is. Hopefully if Gates and the other skill players all come back healthy after the bye that will help.
