Let's hear it.

Trump wins but has to contend with Democratically controlled Congress

or

Democrats win the Presidency but have to contend with a Republican led Senate that will continue to block agendas

Trump lose and the GOP losing majority. They've shown an unwillingness to do their jobs, why should they be rewarded for that? I don't even like democrats that much and I'd rather they be in charge, at least for a few years anyway.

Not an option for this poll. You can have 1 for sure, but not the other.

My preferred outcome is for Biden to win the presidency and Republicans to hold the senate.

I prefer not think about Trump vs. Sanders.  I know I want split government in that scenario, but all the various permutations are too awful to contemplate and I will probably just root for the coronavirus instead.

OP: You win a free vechicle  but have to pick between a Tesla or Ram truck

fBG answer: I want a Mercedes

Trump losing is #1 priority.   I'm torn about dems taking senate.  Normally id want some checks.   Can i trade dems also take senate with gop taking house?

No Trump wins and Republicans keep the Senate option? The last thing the Democrats deserve is power in the Senate after the stunt they pulled.
Is the premise of this question really that difficult to understand?

Obviously Pro-Trump folks want wins in both and vice versa.

As a Trump proponent, would you rather see him win and pair him with a Democratic Congress or rather see him lose but keep control of the Senate if it HAD to be one of those 2?

Yes, it’s more rigged than a Democrat primary. Carry on though.

I actually voted for Trump to stay and Democrats take over the Senate.  This assumes the House stays Dem as well, correct?

I voted for #3 because Trump is a clear and present danger to our democracy, so any scenario where he leaves office is preferable.

For the record, the likelihood that Trump would get re-elected while simultaneously losing a net of four Senate seats is infinitesimal. You're talking about a scenario where Dems win two out of AL, AZ, NC, IA or one/both of the GA seats. Can't see that happening unless Biden is also doing well.

Correct.
Ok...so if true, I'd take Trump being in office long enough for them to impeach and remove him for either campaign finance violations or his unilateral actions against Iranian nationals, or if they were REALLY up on doing their jobs whichever of the things Mueller laid out in his report.  All those things he still probably did and are still impeachable.  Two of them even pass the "crime committed" bar the GOP has set.  Do the work correctly and remove him.

I'd like to see a path to 67 Dems in the Senate, 'cause that's what it'll take

Trump wins, Republicans keep the Senate.  Don't care about the House.  Need the Senate majority so when RBG kicks the bucket we can get another conservative SC Justice in there.  Hope Sotomayor departs as well.  That's the real treasure of winning the election, controlling the Courts.

EDIT: Based on the options, Trump wins and lose the Senate.  Wonder if the Senate would confirm any Trump appointees though.

Precedent would say no...they wouldn't.

I didn't vote this way, but I like the thought process.

I think the ship has sailed on either party's Senate majority confirming SCOTUS appointees made by an opposing president. If a Justice drops dead an hour after the inauguration next January, I bet we'd see their seat held open for the president's entire term if necessary.

You simply can't lump Sanders and Biden together. Non starter for me. Poll is broken.

If Sanders were the Nom......as much as I do not like Trump.....he get's my vote. No socialist will get my vote. Ever.

What trump has really opened the door too is the fact that the president can do what he wants

He doesnt need the Senate or the house at all

On reflection, I'm not too far off from this position.  My first choice would be Biden and a GOP senate.  Second choice is Biden and a Democratic senate.  Third choice is coronavirus.
Your ideas are intriguing to me. I wish to subscribe to your newsletter.

This is a great question, btw.

I voted for ice cream, because, well, ice cream is good.

But, I have been racking my brain on the underlying question since yesterday, and am not entirely sure which scenario I would want.

If I thought the Dems would control the Senate the way McConnell controls the Senate - i.e. Schumer would control the government agenda for at least the next 2 years - including any judicial appointments - then I might be persuaded to take Trump for 4 more years.  I don't think the Dems have an ironclad majority, even if they get to 51 Senators - too many are independent thinkers who would put country over party.  So this contrast with the GOP senators tells me this is not a great scenario.

On the contrary, a McConnell led Senate with a Dem president would mean no judicial appointments, including SC nominees for at least 2 years.  And that is a bad outcome.  But, it would mean Trump was out of office, and that is a good thing.

I suppose if I had to make a choice - I would go for Dem president, GOP senate - and then hope for a Dem senate in 2 years.
