Devil's Advocate
It's hard not to respect Jason Varitek. He shuts his mouth, plays the game the right way and never complains.

He would have made a fine Yankee.

Chamberlain from the Yankees - only because he played locally.

No one from the Cubs. If God played for the Cubs, I'd become an atheist.

Andy Pettite. He's always been a professional and according to his claim, which seems credible, the only time he doped was to return quicker to help his team.
;) :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
 I don't remember the full details of all of the evidence but he was very open and forthcoming about talking it with the media after the report came out. And I don't think anything or anybody came out to contradict his claim. I'm not sure what seems so funny about that.
And Bill Clinton was very open and forthcoming about not having sexual relations with Ms Lewinsky.

I agree with this Matthias character. If you can't believe what Andy Pettitte says, you can't believe what ANYONE says!He goes to church and helps old ladies cross the street. ;)

Oh, well, with facts and analysis like that how can I argue.
It should be all of the facts and analysis you need. He had nothing to gain, nor any obligation, to tell the truth. So why in the world should you, or anyone else, believe him?

Oh, and Raffy Palmeiro says hi.

You really don't know what we're talking about, do you.
He seems to be lost more often than not around here. I'd move along and forget it. That's what I've learned to do.

My answer as a Cardinals fan: Jeff Bagwell/Craig Biggio.

It was really hard to hate those guys. Played the game hard, kept their mouths shut, and beat us pretty well for the better part of the 90's.

I know the same things about Pettite that you know, you have just chosen to assess that information differently than me.But you go ahead and take the cheater's word for it. I'm sure he can be trusted just like all of the other cheaters.

Not sure how anyone can hate Mariano Rivera.
Or Jeter I would guess, no?Always gives 100%, never showboats, never in trouble off the field.
Rivera is impossible to hate, yes, although I am sure BoSox fans have it down pat. :goodposting: As for Jeter, I don't hate him, but I hate how overrated he is, especially his fielding skills, which have never been that good. Really, the only thing that Jeter does that annoys me is how he exaggerates having to get out of way of pitches to try to get ball calls. Yeah, the pitch was right down the middle, but you really needed to throw your entire core back three feet to avoid the pitch. He does that crap all of the time. :lmao:

As a Yankee fan it pains me to say it, but I wouldn't mind having Jon Lester or Dustin Pedroia on my team.
I'm sure we'd all like Pedroia, Youkillis, and Varitek if they came up Yankees. But they're not and they're really not likable in anyway, just seem like d-bags in the different laundry. I don't know if they switched teams if things would change. Took me two years to warm up to Boggs and damn near 4 to warm up to Clemens. So I don't know if they changed teams I would like them. I'm pretty sure I'd hate Varitek and Pedroia no matter what. But Lester though, how can you say or think a bad word about that kid. Came back from a death bed brain tumor, pitches smart, pitches with heart and pitches like a champion. I think he's a great choice, I wouldn't have thought of him, but he's a great sock. Sox I've loved to hate, and I really miss them in the context of the rivalry, are Millar, Manny and Pedro. If any of them had switched sides, I think I could have welcomed them, they were really fun to hate though, so I guess in a perverse way I liked them. The sox player I've most admired from his playing days is probably Dewey Evans. That guy was a ballplayer and played the game the right way. In retrospect, all of that late 80's Sox outfield I kind of enjoyed watching play, between Greenwell and Burks and I was happy that Rice made the Hall, he deserved it. And no American can hate Ted Williams, a tremendous man.

In other words, you really don't know what we're talking about and are just trying to bluff your way through it.
And neither do you. You have no more proof of him only doing it during a rehab stint than I do of him being a cheater over an extended period of time.Is this really that hard to understand? You even said yourself "which seems credible" meaning there's room for doubt in your mind. But go ahead and take your stance based on the word of an admitted cheater. Because there's no way someone like that lied.

the Yankee I hated the most is probably Wade Boggs  Or Aaron Boone.

most of my hate is towards loud mouth yankee fans (obviously redundant). I mean, Mattingly, Nettles, Bernie Williams, Rivera, Jeter, all seemed to me to play the game hard and never really been cocky, just confident. Short time yankees are so much more hateable, imho.

First rule of hole digging: when you're in one, stop. The proof I have is the testimony of his supplier who said he injected Pettitte 2 to 4 times when he was injured and not any others. In contrast, the same supplier said he injected Roger Clemens on multiple occasions spanning years. Pettitte was also one of the only players who actually came forward and talked fully about the allegations in the Mitchell Report. If you compare how Pettitte handled the situation versus virtually every other ballplayer, there really is no comparison.

I'm letting this go now because it's obvious all of this new info to you and you were just blundering around and wandered into somewhere you had no clue. In short, this conversation is entirely one sided and not worth my time.
Well, since there's only one HGH / Steroid distributor out there in the world, GSM Mathias.

I actually like pretty much every guy on the team I hate. Utley, Rollins, Howard, Werth, Halladay, Hamels, Victorino, Lidge ... all the core guys seem like class acts, none have been caught roiding or even suspected of it as far as I know. Yet I rooted for the Yankees in the World Series against these guys. The problem with that team is in the stands. Present company excluded, of course.

I have always been a fan of Ryan Dempster. It maybe shouldn't count because he used to play for my team, but he's a pretty big part of a division rival now and I still have a hard time rooting against him.

I like Swisher

Phillies have a bunch of Jeter types. #### Jeter and #### them.

Can't think of a Red Sok with any redeeming social value

I can't think of any White Sux I like, not one. I have to go back to Floyd Bannister to find someone from that franchise that I liked.

I would have said Kevin Youkiis but he showed what a huge ###### he was last year when he charged the mound against a rookie pitcher including his vagitastic helmet throw. I hate that guy. Jon Lester? He seems ok.

Al Kaline seemed like a fine chap.
Are you saying you disliked Sid Monge? Why do you hate Asians?
Wait a minute, how could I forget. It doesn't take going all the way back to Kaline. The days of :NEIFI: were ones I remember fondly.Actually, love Verlander.

Current: Pedroia

Past: Pedro Martinez

I gotta' say as a baseball fan, I loved watching Pedro pitch.

As a Yankee fan, I loved hating him even more.

:NEIFI: !!!!I liked the Big Hurt, hard not to like watching that guy rake in his prime. Brook Fordyce was also

 I pretty much loved the Tigers in the WS that played the Cards, 68 maybe. Freehan, Northrup, Cash, Lolich, McLain (McCauliffe). Doing this from memory but I think Mcauliffe was on that team. Don't really hate the tigs though. Not much reason too. Cubs of that era always liked Sweet Swinging Billy Williams and Fergie. Ted Abernathy was cool with the Bad MOFO submarine pitch. Another Cub I always liked for the same reason DD stated about Thomas was Bill Madlock. In his prime he was a great hitter. Only team I greatly dislike is the Yankees. The only players from them I can remember ever likeing were Bobby Murcer and Thurman Munson. Too many bad memories of Mantle destroying the WS. And too many Yankee fans around here that haven't been East of Indianapolis in their life.edit because I didn't capitalize T in Thurman. That just wouldn't be right.

Dear Chase, I feel like I can call you Chase because you and me are so much alike. I would love to meet you some day. It would be great to have a catch. I know I can't throw as fast as you, but I think you would be impressed with my speed. I love your hair. You run fast. Do you have a good relationship with your father? Me neither. These are all things we can talk about and more. I know you have not been getting my letters because I know you would write back if you did, and I hope you write back this time and we get to be good friends. I am sure our relationship would be a real home run. Mac

Why in the world would anyone admit to being like Chase Stuart and how in the hell do you know how fast he runs?
