Which Sleeper WR has more Upside? Hackett/Curry/Crayton (1 Viewer)

Which of the three "sleeper" receivers that everybody has been talking about has more upside or is a better pick this season?

D.J. Hackett

Ronald Curry

Patrick Crayton

I believe all three are talented enough, but are dependent upon their situation and circumstances that are out of their control.

I've seen Hackett more than the other two. I know he's got the ability to make plays, but I really have to tip my cap to Burleson. He's earned the playing time during the preseason. I'm not saying Hackett is playing any worse. I'm saying I've been wowed by Burleson. As a Seahawk fan I'm thrilled to have a player that I was ready to write off come back and make a splash. I'm hoping he can continue his preseason play into the regular season. Again, Burleson's resurgance isn't within Hackett's realm of control.

I feel the same way about Crayton. If Glenn is ready to play I don't see him sitting while Crayton plays.

Curry is just a solid player on a bad team. Will the Raiders improve? If they do I think Curry could emerge as a Hines Ward sort of player, but while they team remains down so will his chances.

Which of the three? I don't know. Wish I did. Flip a three sided coin?

I'd give a slight edge to Curry based only on their respective WR situation.

Hackett has Branch, Burleson and Engram to compete with, all of whom should get a fair number of looks. Crayton has some guy named Owens on the other side him. Porter is decent enough, but I don't view him as a meaningful obstacle for Curry to outproduce.

Hackett has the best situation as he is a starter pretty much without question.

Crayton would be my choice if Glenn is out for the year, but we don't know about that yet.

Curry has skills, but Oakland just plain sucks IMHO. I can't see that offense doing much and therefore I don't expect much from Curry in it.

This is probably how I'd rank them as of this moment.

August 30, 2007, 10:36Seahawks :: WRHackett, Burleson May Share Time At Split EndClare Farnsworth, Seattle Press-Intelligencer - [Full Article]The Seattle Seahawks will be using Deion Branch as their starting flanker and veteran Bobby Engram as the dependable slot receiver. It was thought that D.J. Hackett would start at split end and he still may but Nate Burleson has pushed him with a good preseason and perhaps a job-sharing situation has developed in Seattle.

People said that the Colts' DEF sucked, too. That's why they play the games.

Hackett hasn't been a sleeper for a while now... so I'm not going to count him

if it becomes offical that Glenn is done... then it Crayton

Hackett is not the definite starter--based on reports, he is barely hanging onto the #2 job vs. a fast rising Burleson.Curry is the definite starter, and many (including me) feel that he will be the primary target. The quality of an offense matters a lot when trying to rank WR's who are #2 or #3 behind established starters (like Hackett, Jacoby Jones, James Jones, Housh, Wayne, etc.), but it is almost irrelevant when trying to rank WR's with the potential to be #1--see in prior years Edwards, Berrian, Boldin, Chad Johnson, etc.I'm not really sold on Crayton, although he has a great situation. I don't see him doing horribly, but I haven't seen anything from him that leads me to believe he'll become a stud.I'd rank them:Curry -- If he can stay healthy, I expect him to finish in the WR12-24 range in PPR, and probaly WR12-30 range in non-PPR. He is the primary target who has proven the ability to catch a lot of balls in that role. I am banking on Culpepper getting that job sooner or later.Hackett -- not a lot of upside (there is zero chance that he gets the #1 slot if Branch is healthy--all reports indicate that the Hawks love Branch), but if he can hold on to his job he may end up a borderline WR3. Note that with a healthy Shaun Alexander, there should be fewer TD's for the WR's this year.Crayton -- more upside than Hackett, but I expect him to end up as a WR4 or so in PPR. I think he's the #4 target on that team, behind TO, Witten and the RB's (if you count the RB's as one). Huge upside though--you never know with WR's, he could explode into a 1000-yard receiver. Crayton was good enough that the Cowboys didn't go after any solid recievers in the draft or FA.That's my ranking in expected points. Since I value upside in my late-round WR's, I'd swap Crayton and Hackett.

Hackett in a run away. I would rather have him than both of the others. Curry is injured all the time and plays on a team that has no offense. Crayton is no glenn so dont be fooled. Hackett is a solid #2 FF WR..

I think its currently (after the Glenn news):

Crayton

Hackett

Curry/Porter (Aren't they pretty much considered equal at this point?)

I would also like to see how Brandon Marshall & Santonio Holmes stack up to this list as well.

Gotta add another vote for Curry. I grabbed him late for both my teams this year. When healthy, he has really (& quietly) been very good.

I think he stays healthy this year & has 80+ recpetions. Besides, he's already torn his achilles twice, can it really happen a third time...

Garrard and this guy actually played well together, and he could easily outperform his ADP and end up as a nice surprise on the W.W. in a few weeks.
