Which WW WR is the real deal? (1 Viewer)

Ok, need some real help here. I'm #2 on the waiver priority list, and the #1 guy probably isn't going to pick up a WR.

I am really not understanding Collie going from being ranked in the 60's to being ranked 23rd for PPR leagues. Sure, he had a HUGE week, but Manning had the most attempts in his career and there are just way too many options in that offense. Looking at Collie's production last year, he was borderline WR3/WR4. All of a sudden he's decent WR2/great WR3 material? I don't know if I buy that, but I do agree he probably has the most potential in that offense.

Mark Clayton and Mike Williams (SEA) are also available. I'm seriously torn on this one as I'm probably only going to be able to grab one of them.

How do you guys rank these 3 guys? Is Collie really going to be that dependable? I can't help but think the other 2 guys are going to see way more balls thrown their way.

*Maybe should've posted this in the Asst. Coach forum. Eh, I'll probably get better input in here anyway...Still staying on the topic of which guy is the real deal here.

Agreed that manning won't be chucking it 57 times again anytime soon, but the caveat to that is garçon dropped at least three passes manning expected him to make. Manning didn't look he liked that very much. That may be the reason for the large bump for collie in the fbg ppr rankings. Yay week 1.F

Everyone is looking for the undrafted guy who rises to the occasion/situation and posts decent numbers.

These guys all saw a good amount of targets WK1 and are available in >2/3 of Yahoo leagues:

Clayton 10-119-0 Appears to be the #1 and Bradford's go to target

Gresham 6-25-1 How did Palmer look? Gresham is behind TO/Ocho who will draw coverage, could be decent spot start

Mike Thomas 6-89-0 Read that MSW was covered by Bailey all game

Amendola 6-67-0 Behind Clayton but could be decent spot start

Bess 6-51-0 Will see many targets when Marshall draws coverage

Brandon Lloyd 5-117-0 Royal had more targets but is Lloyd the deep threat?

Shipley 5-82-0 Same as Gresham

Mike Williams TB 5-30-1 Most targeted, TB has a decent schedule

Mike Williams SEA 4-64-0 Hass looked his way often, soft schedule

Luis Murphy 4-28-0 Behind McFadden in receptions but is he the #1 WR

Manningham 4-85-0 Eli spread the ball around, could be a decent spot start?

Anyone else? Did not include TEs but feel free to discuss if your league is WR/TE

Thoughts from those who watched the games? Who would you pick up and why?
I think Mike Thomas is the real deal, it had been reported all pre-season that he was the best WR during camp. Not sure what level he will produce this year with Garrard and the Jax passing offense but he should be a great dynasty investment.Clayton is worth taking a flier on as Bradford looks pretty good and he received all these targets after only being there a week.
Seconded. Mike homas is ESPECIALLY the real deal in PPR. Now if Mike Williams TB is on the WW, I would take him before any of the others. He really isn't on the WW is he?

Gresham and Manningham should be on nobodies WW. Nobodies.
In a 10 team league these guys should absolutely be rostered??? LOL, ease up on the hyperbole, guy.
Ummm...in the 10-teamer I'm in, both of them are rostered - as are most of the guys on the list.
Good for you chief, we're not talking about your specific league. How many times does it have to be pointed out that these players are available in a majority of leagues - the yahoo rostered percentages have been cited more than once. :hifive:

really interested in the opinions of Mike Thomas. read good things about him in preseason, and with Garrard looking more stable under center in Week 1, Thomas is a good sleeper. But is he just that -- a sleeper, rather than someone who will merit consistent targets and looks? Much of his success was the focused intent to take MSW out of the game. I don't think this is going to be the normal gameplan for opposing Ds all year long.

A guy like Clayton (a vet with emerging chemistry with a rookie QB), Mike Williams (SEA, where there is no clear cut #1 WR yet and he looks to be filling that role) seem like they have more upside.

Any more insight/opinions from others on Thomas' season outlook?

16 targets probably can't be ignored in a PPR league. I would probably rank the Williams's and Royal/Collie above Clayton due to better situations (and/or talent) ...but Clayton has to at least be watched.

Watching the Cincy game yesterday, Gresham looks like the real deal at TE. On his TD catch, he elevated to catch a high pass in the back of the endzone effortlessly. He was also around 6 inches short of another TD, so they are definitely targeting him in the red zone.
 So, he jumped up!
