White Elephant Rules/Discussion (1 Viewer)

1. Standard FBG surviver league scoring

2. 20 rounds

3. 5 steals allowed. Steal attempts must pass the steal test. If an illegal steal is attempted, you still get charged a steal, but must pick from the available player pool. All steal attempts must clearly state STEAL, or else it is assumed that it's just a bad pick.

4. Replacement picks (making up stolen players) may be done at any time, but are subject to being stolen.

5. 8 hour clock, off from midnight to 8 AM est. If you timeout, you may NOT use a steal for that pick. Clock is reduced by 2 hours for each timeout. On third timeout, you will be replaced.

6. In this league, it is critical that you message not only the next person that they are up, but the person you steal from if you use a steal.

7. Keep the pick thread clear of discussions....this draft is very difficult to track, so the draft thread must be kept clen of clutter. Use this thread to discuss!

8. HAVE FUN!

STEAL TEST:

A PLAYER MAY BE STOLEN IF AND ONLY IF IT PASSES THIS TEST:

1. Is it that owner's last pick taken? If yes....

2. Have I made a pick (of any type...steal, original, or repick) since this player was FIRST DRAFTED FROM THE PLAYER POOL....if no, then....

3. Did I have the opportunity to steal this player before (while I was on the clock)...if no....then

4. Have I ever owned this player before? If no, then...

You can steal him.

Please wait until noon to start...that was the posted start time, and with the steals it's only right to wait until then. THANKS!

If you time out, I think you should not be able to steal for that pick.

Otherwise, I can see a strategy to that,

and I don't think people want to have a draft with people timing out all the time.

Is there any clock on a re-pick, after a player is stolen from you?

No.You have to repick before your next pick. You can wait until you next pick to pick back to back, making your the 1st pick of those picks unstealable.

That's right...and we did that last year (couldn't steal if you timeout)

Updated the first post in this thread to clarify a couple things.

INteresting start...guess Rad and Jeter don't want their picks stolen?

Uh oh, did I screw this up already? :tinfoilhat:
There's pluses and minuses to what type of players to pick and when. Took LT from the 1.06 slot last year just to have him stolen and see how that worked. Many ways to play this out.Happy to be in a different part of the order this year, to see how strats play from that side as well.

Me two. Had the first pick lat year and went Westbrook. Managed to keep him too! (You wouldn't this year though). It seems last year's drafter's learned a lot...strategy is different this year.

The middle guys have a distinct disadvantage compared to the end guys. I was lucky enough to be right in the middle last year as well.

X

I believe that there's good strategy viewpoints for ALL draft spots, which intrigues me the most about this draft.

funny...I was thinking there was an advantage to the end, and I was on the end last year.

you need to reread my statement

I just want to give a big shout of THANKS to Renesuaz for tracking this years White Elephant draft. This is undoubtedly the hardest draft to keep any sense of order. :excited:

Good Luck to all of this years participants.

Also, it should be interesting with the 2 additional draft slots this year. :blackdot:

STEAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well first interesting thing has already come up, someone gets to keep AP or LT and it won't be the last two drafters! :goodposting:

Reaper, I am the rookie here, but I think Westy is a bad steal. You had the chance to take him at 3 and didn't, so you cannot steal him now, right? Any vets from last year, please jump in and confirm/deny.

Thanks

I didn't have a Chance to STEAL him at 3, he wasn't drafted yet.....

 Gotcha, still working out the steal rules, as I will be for the next 20 rounds or so. Sorry Reaper. :football:

All Good... Honestly, I did this last year and I still wasn't sure what to do there or if the move was OK.Only problem is I don't love Westbrook - but, felt spiteful :lmao: .... I would rather have stolen someone else but, I risked the chance of losing anyone else VS waiting to steal a lower ranked player from round 2.

These near the end spots are pretty dicey. The guy right behind you could give you a really bad round.

If you draft poorly as a group on your end, you could give guys on the other end a tremendous advantage.

You middle guys can hit now and then.

The more we know, will we be likely to gang up on a team that gets out ahead?

Will it matter if they runaway with three rounds?

Bizarro World.

It's all part of the fun of this draft. Careful draft strategy means more then a good list/cheatsheet.

It also means that this draft shouldn't be taken too seriously.

Interesting that you would rather take Westy from the 14th and allow ADP or LT go to a middle selector.

If I took ADP or LT, then they SHOULD be Stolen from me from guys in the middle who were already robbed and waiting to pounce.I took Westbrook because I don't think anyone can take him from me anymore and I won't waste a steal.

I think there's one or two who could, but I like your thinking! :hophead: The 1.16 slot in WE is much like the 1.1 in any other survivor...he can take (and lock) whoever he wants. That's why Tom Brady was not too bad a stretch at 1.1

You can keep the draft straight, but not quotes?

I was amazed anyone stole Westbrook from me. I was reasonably sure since the beginning of the draft the bottom 4 picks would be S-Jax, Westbrook, LT and AP.

Clearly that plan didn't work out as well as I thought. Anyway, still would've taken Westbrook there, it gives me the most +EV.

Guys, I bumped up the first ever attempt at this. It was a complete :lmao: , but since then we've got this down - kinda.

Just remember to read the steal rule about 100 times, and it may start to sink in.

Hopefully, everyone is remembering to PM their victims, as well as tyhe next guy up, whem they steal!

Nice, I enjoyed reading last years blog. It's actually worth a re-read for those who are a little unsure of strategy options.

It's more of a keeping the man down thing with me. ADP going to a middle round pick to relatively late round pick? Reaper thought his pick through a little more than I did though. His logic was solid.

Rudnicki:

1st round repick: RB Willis McGahee

2.05: RB Maurice Jones-Drew

Jeff Pasquino :

STEAL Adrian Peterson, RB, MIN

Ruds couldn't steal ADP. And Jeff.....can eat my shorts. I may have the last laugh on this one though.

now that I locked barber up I was wondering who couldve stolen him? I asked this last year so I obviously still dont have a clue

could anyone who picked before me who had their pick stolen have taken him? also anyone who picked after me couldve stolen him as their initial pick but they couldnt have stolen him as their repick if their original pick was stolen from them could they?

Everyone after you in Round 1 could steal him.1.03 and 1.04 and 1.06 owners could also have taken him since they were stolen from and could take any player selected after their pick but not locked yet.

Anyone from 1.10 to 1.16 could have stolen him as their initial pick, but not as a repick. Nobody from the 1.01 to 1.08 could have stolen him in the 2nd, as you already have made your 2nd round pick. Any one of the top 8 could have stolen him as a repick though, up until the time you made your 2nd round choice.
