Who Did You Bench To Start DWill? (1 Viewer)

The coolest part of this story has yet to be written... next week when he is on all of our collective benches, he'll go for 26-135 2TD

Sat Fred Jackson for him- was feeling good about it until around 4:45pm.

Can't believe they didn't even get the RBs involved in the passing game that much (and most of that was to Tolbert late)- Rivera must still be talking to Norv.

What did you people expect?
Carolina wracked up around 450 yds rushing in the 2 match-ups with the Bucs last year. So it's a little silly asking people what they expected. I mean, I'm sure no one expected 225 yds but he should have been a great play regardless.
Good posting. The guy put up a great ypc last year and they romped the Bucs twice last year. Even if you think he can't carry the bell-cow load, he can still carry it for one game. This was just inexplicable. Only two carries in the first half sounds like Fox is still there propping up Delhomme.

You guys are missing my point. Of course he is capable of having big games; he is one of the most talented backs in the league. The problem is that you simply can't expect the coaching staff to give him the rock enough to do that. They have repeatedly shown this. He is the type of player you can only start when you don't have any other good options and hope he breaks a long run. He got only got a combined 18 carries in those two games against TB, after all.

Carolina is absolutely incompetent for blowing $90 million dollars on DWill and Stewart, AND bringing in Tolbert to use as a fullback (despite being a proven RB commodity), and having no game plan for utilizing that talent to the tune of 40 team carries per game like they should.

Maybe you missed the part about JStew being out. I don't know....maybe it's just me but I would expect him to get more touches with Stewart out? Obviously FBG did to as they had him projected for 18 touches.

Clearly. The point is, he didn't have a single game with under 8 touches last year, and that was in a time share. This game was tailor made for production. Again, even FBG ranked him #9 RB. It's inexcusable to give him the ball only 5-6 times on the ground and just one reception. As bad as Rivera is, as bad as the CAR organization is...there is simply no explanation for this. No gameplan that makes sense to do this. This game was a good indication, however, that this regime--from owner to GM to coach--they just aren't on the same page. While they spend the $ for top quality RBs, they certainly don't have the first clue what to do with them.

There was this stat dating back to 2000/2001, where the leading rusher repeated his performance the following year, leading the league once again. The list of names this included were Priest Holmes, Larry Johnson, Shaun Alexander and Ladanian Tomlinson. After Deangelo lead the league in rushing in 2008, he broke the trend in 2009. I drafted him predicated on this stat and have never drafted/forgiven him since.
