who did you draft..... (1 Viewer)

Gonzalez in the 5th - this one ticks me off because I actually had a "TE stratgey" that I totally over looked during the draft.

Favre in the 7th - surley i could have gotten him MUCH later

Im kicking myself for taking R Moss over A Bolidn.... Looing back Bolidn is the safer of the two w/ Moss having a bigger "upside"........

I took M. Anderson around 10th round (I don't have J. Lewis) instead of M. Barber (I have J. Jones). I was being kind of rushed and as soon as I clicked the choice, I regretted it.

Probably DJax and Branch.

I knew the risks when drafting them, so I'm not really regretting it, per se...so I don't know if that counts.

In an auction, I jumped in with a $4 bid for Mike Bell, and nobody out-bid me (I expected him to go for $10-$15 out of a $100 cap). I had planned to add Lundy or Marion Barber, but with Bell (who I didn't want) I didn't bid on Lundy (who I could have signed to a 3 year $1 deal) and instead added a backup QB (Simms). I droped Sims late last week for Lundy, and now have Lundy on my roster at $2 for one year only. ...oh well - trade bait I guess.

In a public league, I took Portis at 1.05 (passing up on S.Jackson & R.Brown). I'm not overly worried about that pick because I have some depth at RB (Kevin Jones and Mike Bell). But I also picked up Darrell Jackson with my only other (bench) receiver being Lavernious Coles. So I guess I'll be starting Coles week 1...

I took Kurt Warner in the 9th or 10th round of a 12 teamer. Didn't want to then but saw value, regretted it a round or so later.

Trying to trade him, but I doubt I'll find a suitor.

Wanted Leftwich, but didn't have it in me to take him over Warner, and backup is Simms.

12 teamer. I picked up Gonzo at the end of the 5th. I really didn't want a TE this early besides Watson, but Gonzo was available, 4 other TE's were already gone. 3 rounds later I picked up Watson. Hate taking another TE, but this was more of a defensive move. If Watson lights it up, and I had let him slide any further, I would be very pissed at myself. Plus after Week 3, Gonzo's bye, Watson might be nice trade bait.Bluestaples, I got Favre at 11.11. He was the QB I really wanted going into the draft, besides Warner. Warner went in the 7th. Noticed that everyone had a starting QB, and a few others had a backup, so I just waited. I picked up Farve at the last possible moment, because another QB run started right after my pick. It's tough waiting on a guy you really want, so there's nothing wrong with taking someone a little early.

I mentioned Owens earlier, but I was also very proud of myself for taking Kitna in two big money leagues.

Just a backup, but still, if Detroit continues their horrid ways, I will be scrambling for QB depth.

With Martz at the helm, I'd be more scared if I were a KJ owner. "Okay, KJ, we need you stay in and block because we'll be passing alot this year..." Detroit fans should get used to hearing "Kitna back to pass..."

In the 4th round of my 12 team league I took Mike Bell over DeShaun Foster as my RB2 behind Cadillac two weeks ago. Ironically, I was able to get DeAngelo a few rounds later. I am now trying to trade Bell and Vick (my backup to Palmer) for DeShaun (whose owner has Roethlisberger and Grossman as his 2 QB's right now; and LJ and Gore as his other top RB's) to secure the Carolina backfield as my RB2 this season. Don't know if it is going to happen but I am praying that I can undo my boneheaded draft decision.

I look at Moss differently. I see his downside at 1000 yards and 8 TDs. His stats from last year. His upside is 1400+ yards and 14+ TDs. I will gladly take Moss over Holt and Johnson, and any other WR this year. Chad has never scored 10 TDs, and Holt might have once. That's just me though.

I was pretty happy with my draft. But I did make one boneheaded error. After picking Vilma for an IDP slot in the middle rounds, I picked Adrian Wilson without checking his bye week. They're both off Week 9. :wall:

As long as you draft value, you never have to ask yourself this question.
I had one draft in June/July.Round 1- Clinton PortisRound 2- Dominic DavisRound 3- Ron DayneRound 4- Deion BranchCare to revise your opinion any?
Yes I would. You are a moron for drafting that early. You get what you deserve.
You're right, I was a pretty big moron for not just telling the rest of the league that they could go ahead and draft their teams, and then I'd go ahead and draft my team in late August. I see now that that's how I should have played it. Thank you for opening my eyes. That sound you hear is my eyes rolling. By the way, was I also a moron for drafting that early when I got Thomas Jones and Mike Anderson in the 15th or later last year?

Yes you were! This begs the question of why any league would draft this early. It makes no sense given all that can happen. So, as I said before, you get what you deserve. Your whole league does.

Actually, that doesn't beg any question at all.Begging the question is a logical fallacy whereby one makes an arguement where the proposition to be proven is assumed implicitly or explicitly in one of the premises. I believe you meant to say that it RAISES the question of why any league would draft that early- which is a horse of an entirely different color. A tip: In the future, if you want to question someone else's intelligence, it's best not to do so in a post filled with mistakes. It tends to undermine your authority. In answer to the question that was RAISED (not "begged")... the reason so many leagues draft early is one of simple logistics. I am in 5 leagues this season. Some of the people in those 5 leagues are in 6, 7, or even 8 other leagues of their own. Trying to coordinate to hold all 5 of those drafts live involves dealing with the schedules of several hundred different fantasy football players once all is said and done- all of whom have their own work schedules, vacation schedules, and draft schedules. Often, it's quite simply not feasible to have every single draft within 3 weeks of the beginning of the season. One solution is to resort to snail drafts, which most of my leagues use, but the downside to that is it frequently takes an entire month to complete a draft in large leagues or leagues with deep rosters, and it can really bog down if someone is on vacation or something. As a result, you still need to start the draft many weeks before the kickoff of the season. There's nothing inherently "stupid" about early drafts, however. They present a much higher degree of risk, it's true... but they also present a much higher reward. All players operate under the same rules, so the draft is still perfectly fair to all involved parties- it's just a question of managing risk. Plus, I love having a really early draft because I can use it as a great tuneup, as a motivator to finish up my projections and rankings and tierings, as a tool to understand what the popular opinion is regarding a lot of players, and as a nice practice for my more important leagues. I feel like I never perform at an optimal level in my first draft of the season, so it's nice to have one early on to remind me to let the draft come to me and that value presents itself in all rounds and to give me some practice letting players fall as long as I can before I grab them, etc. Then again, what would I know? I'm just a moron who happens to play in leagues populated entirely by other morons.

Took Gonzo in the 5th. I should have grabbed Gore who went 3 picks ahead of me in the 6th. I went RB-WR-WR-WR(Barber, CJ, Fitz, Chambers) in rounds 1-3(I had two high 3rd rounders). In hindsight the way TE's slid (McMike 10th round, LJ Smith 12th) I should have grabbed Gore. Since I didn't I had to go volume for RB2, I took RB's in rounds 6-7-8-9. T. Jones is the best of the bunch(Jones, Taylor, C. Brown, Maroney) hoping 1-2 of them are adequate starters
