Who do you "HAVE TO HAVE" this year (1 Viewer)

Hear-the-Footsteps

Footballguy
On the first page of the Shark Pool right now, there are threads about...

- getting on the CJ Spiller train

- J.Best moving up boards

- M.Thomas fantasy gold as a very late rounder

- V.Cruz could be solid as a very late rounder

So let's just get this all in one place. Who do you "HAVE TO HAVE" this season? Okay, maybe "have to" is a bit strong. But overall, who are the guys you will take before their ADP? The guys you are willing to nab before their ADP suggests b/c you really believe in that player this year?

I asked this in another thread, but it wasn't technically the primary subject matter of that thread - so no one would know to look there for it. But I'd love to see which guys NOT BEING SELECTED IN THE TOP 3-4 ROUNDS are people targeting as must haves this year. Just curious which names pop up the most. Last year, the Shark Pool was dead on with jumping the gun a little on Ray Rice. Who is this year's top target that is not being selected very early? Or top 2-3 targets?!

Make your call here. Put that prediction down in writing here!

Santana Moss.

Never owned him, but he's McNabb's new BFF in the Shanny west coast offense. 7th-10th round.

I don't HAVE to have anyone, but my behavior is telling me

-Antonio Gates (3 of 4 leagues)

-Percy Harvin (3 of 4 leagues)

-Tony Romo (2 of 4 leagues)

-Joseph Addai (2 of 4 leagues)

-Owen Daniels (2 of 4 leagues)

-Vincent Jackson (2 of 4 leagues)

-Brett Favre (2 of 4 leagues)

-Donald Brown (2 of 4 leagues)

-Brandon Jacobs (2 of 4 leagues)

There are others but they're deeper dynasty prospects.

We'll see how my last 2 drafts go...

Great Topic. I don't have the knowledge to comment on this but I'm very interested to see the responses!

Knox is starting out popular in this thread, which is consistent with what I've seen on these boards. I dunno. I can see any of those WRs in Chicago emerging as the main guy.

Others...

Welker - Seems many are getting more and more comfortable taking Welker earlier than he was going now that he's actually seen the field and looks okay. Grabbing him a full round before his ADP could pay off huge in a PPR league.

Owens - He's almost not even a risk at his current ADP. I don't love him given that OchoCinco will want the ball too. Plus they seemed to like being a running team last year when Benson actually looked good. And I don't know what, if anything, Palmer has left in that arm. But TO is going outside the top 75 picks. If you took him around 75th, it seems like a safe play.

Best - Has his own "climbing the draft board" thread going on right now. He can definitely be a guy worth owning. I think he can put up solid RB2 #s and you could probably get him 5th round.

My HAVE to HAVE list is:

DEZ BRYANT!!!! (took him 1.08 in a startup dynasty recently)

Mike Williams TB (love his talents)

H.Nicks (STUD in progress) (my must have from last yr too)

dont know why i dont feel super strongly with the rb's....as i dont feel there is anyone i just MUST have on my roster.

I can name many of them as rb's i like though.

I dont think Welker or Best belong in this thread. I'd be surprised if they are not both gone before the end of the fourth.

TE-Zach Miller, especially in flex leagues with an emphasis on TE. I like him to have a huge breakout season.

QB-Lots of them with upside this year.

RB-Ahmad Bradhsaw is flying up my boards right now. He looks to have his career year perhaps this season.

WR-Another vote for Knox...WR1 in Martz offense, should far outproduce his ADP, but I do want to say that I am not a huge fan of his talent at all. Just right place at the right time.

WR-Gaffney

WR-Bernard Berrian...too many problems with the other 2 and he is way too focused right now. At WR50-55 he has top25 potential.

QB-Matthew Stafford

RB-Kareem Huggins

WR-The  's that are Johnny Knox and Hakeem Nicks

TE-Zach Miller (the OAK one)

Guys I'll be willing to buy before their ADP:

1. J. Best

2. J. Gaffney

3. Matthew Stafford

4. Chad Henne

5. M. Floyd

6. Ben Rothlesberger

7. J. Knox

8. Hines Ward

Matt Stafford--I have sold out on him, trading for him in three leagues. I think he's gonna have 4,000 yards this year.

Most of the rest of these are bargain bin guys that I think have starter upside

Leon Washington--Not a believer in Forsett, but I am a believer in Leon.

Larry Johnson--At that price, I don't see too many other guys I can see starting without needing an injury.

Bernard Scott--Cheap, and if Benson goes down......

Ahmad Bradshaw--Hoping the buzz subsides till draft day.

Matt Forte--Ranked waaaay too low.

Mike Wallace--Surprised he's not ranked higher. Just gotta get through that first month.

Zach Miller--in PPR, I love him.

Josh Cribbs--I think he's a WR3 this year.

At the risk of repetition in this thread, the guys I've been really targeting heavily are:

Mike Williams (TB)

Bradshaw

Josh Freeman (as QB2 obviously)

Knox

Calvin Johnson

Zach Miller

Grabbing as many of these guys as I can later in drafts...

Owen Daniels

Maroney

Eddie Royal

MacGahee

Choice

James Jones

Ringer

Based on their ADPs and where I've been able to snag them for value in drafts:

J. Best

P. Harvin

M. Barber

J. Gaffney

Best

Foster

Nicks

With a 1.04 pick in 12 man ppr

I can go

Round:

1. Rice or MJD

2. BPA WR/QB

3. BPA WR/QB

then fill out my starters with Best at rb2, Nicks at wr2 and Foster at flex rb/wr..... feels like a great first 6 picks

Reggie Bush - Part of a two headed monster instead of a 3+ headed monster for the first time in a couple years. Last time he was competing with this few people in the backfield for touches, he was a threat to lead FF in scoring.

Pierre Garcon - Separating from the pack of Colt WR's, and more physical tools at this point in his career than Wayne. About to do to RW what RW did to Marvin back in the day.

Julian Edelman - Good story and incredible work ethic or not...ACL's don't heal that quickly. Especially for somebody who relies on his quickness and cuts. I don't think Welker has it in him to go half assed, so I think he implodes within a few weeks, and Edelman pushes 100 receptions.

Cutler - I can't imagine he'll do worse than Kitna did under Martz. Fully expecting a baseline of 4200/25, with considerable upside. Probably a ton of INTs, but should put up the raw #'s to compensate.

Clinton Portis and Chris Cooley - McNabb's effective range almost always extends about as far as his RB and TE. If he stays healthy, I think Portis is a lock for a career high in receptions...60-ish? Cooley ought to be a red zone threat again.

Cutler

Roethlisberger

Stafford

Knox

Santana Moss

Gaffney

Best

Foster

Bradshaw

Forte

A lot of these guys are 5-7 round ADP and I'm trying to decide on my favorites now, as I won't be able to get them all. Hoping to end up with 2 of the 4 RBs, 2 or all 3 of the WRs, and at least 2 of the qbs.

Jermichael Finley - This guy just looks unstoppable in that offense. I expect a year similar to the first year Gates really broke out and established himself at the top. I won't reach and draft him over Gates or D. Clark but I will pull the trigger early. I don't want to be on the sidelines on this one.

Kevin Kolb - tons of weapons, great situation and offense. I think those that wait on a QB and end up with Kolb will be very happy.

What kind of leagues are there where Jahvid Best is going after round 4? Can you guys actually name me 55 or so players that you would take above him?

Ive been taking Felix Jones and/or Jahvid Best as my top 2 RB's in all of my recent redrafts.

Nate Burelson and Lee Evans have been the WR's i am targeting after the 10th round as my #4/5 WR's.

Gates or Finley in the 4th or 5th, if i miss aone of them its Zach Miller in the 7th/8th and backing one of them up woth Scheffler, or Ben Watson.

Favre, another big year in store

Barber TD hog

Best I don't think I get him, he's moving into 3rd round area

Floyd One year wonder

I haven't drafted any of my leagues yet, I'm just going by his 5th round ADP. Personally I'm thinking of taking him in the 4th, but only because I don't think Cutler will be available to me if I don't take him in the 5th.

j. finley = potential to have 1000+ yds and 10 tds... believe it

d bryant = just too talented and in too good of a situation

w welker = dont understand why hes not still valued high

Probably the wrong thread but a guy I will have a lot because no one wants him but its Mike Williams at Seattle. If Vjax goes there then not so much but the thing I noticed is on the sideline after the starters got pulled the other night Hasselbeck and Williams were standing together on the sideline a lot and joking around together. I made a mental note of that and he also looked very good to me on the field. Good combo for a guy no one wants. So now he is going to go OD on Cup Cakes since I posted this.

FBG's non-PPR ADP list has Best at 50th overall. In a 10 teamer, that puts him at 5.10. In a 12 teamer, that puts him at 5.02.I'm with you though. If he's sitting there in the 4th, I think he warrants consideration. Of course would have to see who else is available. But definitely would consider him.
