What I like about gin is also what can be frustrating about gin. Which is that they can be very different products. I like Bluecoat, which I use at home, but it isn't necessarily the best gin for every tonic or for a martini with an olive (I keep Plymouth around for martinis, usually). But with fever tree tonic and using an orange twist, I love Bluecoat, because the citrus notes are very prominent in it.
Plymouth is different because it is a style of gin. It is only made in Plymouth, England and has a much softer note of juniper with a more earthy component.Speaking of gin, I drink a lot of Nolet's gin made from the folks who bring you Ketel One. If you have money to burn, try their Reserve...around $700 a bottle

Halfsies on the Reserve?

Once you reach 40 you should not be drinking your alcohol with mixers, except on very special occasions. If you are not yet 40, then you can still drink like a child.

If you want gin, drink a martini. If you want bourbon, pour some in a glass and drink it.

It's time to grow up, fellas.

Martini's have vermouth in them, chief. Sounds like a mixed drink to me.

For a proper martini, the bottle of vermouth will only briefly pass through the same area code as the shaker, and preferably outside county lines.

Second try.

Anyone ever try Martin Miller gin? Supposedly, it's fan-#######-tastic and I got that tip from the guy who suggested Hendricks to me 5 years ago--before it got trendy.

Oh, try your Hendricks and tonic with a cucumber slice. It's really good.
Although it is a fruit, cucumbers have no place in drinks.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.
Dude, I have.
You've tried Hendricks, tonic and cucumber and didn't like it? I don't believe you.

Winston Churchill used to just glance at the bottle of vermouth when making his martini.

I know this is the popular opinion, but I prefer a healthy splash of good vermouth in a martini.

I used to do Tanqueray and tonic, and Bombay Sapphire for martinis. Now I just to Bombay for everything. I used to think it was expensive but it isn't
Now try Hendricks
I will
Okay, I had a couple Hendricks and tonics last night. Um, wow. It was like liquid heroin.
Because of this thread I did as well. You are spot on. Wow.
Had a couple last night- nothing to do with the thread.

I've been drinking Bombay Sapphire and tonic all week because of this thread. I'd forgotten how much I'd liked them after not having one in probably a couple of years. I'm like that though - I'll get all into something and then get tired of it until I rediscover it again months or years later.

Check back when you hit puberty and you'll see how silly you sound.

It's been a rough few months getting killed at work and my gin bill has gone through the roof. Worth it though as I probably would have killed someone without it.
