I had to go with Denver because of Walker as well. They got what some people think is the best rookie QB & Walker which IMO is better than any of the rookie WRs.

In a 3-4? At 305 pounds?Titus Adams might be a NT.I voted Jets, but really, it was a homer chocie.
Jets had a very nice draft, but I'm a bit suprised that they only drafted one linebacker, and no NT. I'm no expert on the late prospects, so I'm judging purely on positions taken. Still, getting another 2nd rounder from Washington really puts to bed any questions I had about Tangini's trading acumen.

What was Known beforehand was that the Draft was Deep At OT and OL.... So, with the 4 pick, there was an opportunity to do something Big based on VBD.justice fell, but that wasn't known at time... at times after his ridiculously athletic workout, some scouts thought PHI might trade up to get him in top 10...As many said prior to the draft, it was strong at Offensive line. I think the Jets still could have added to their OL with Mangold / Justice type picks and STILL added a talent like Davis, Hawk or Ngata at 4 or trade down. A lot of their later picks after 3 were reaches.Close poll! I voted for the Jets. They showed good patience in not overbidding for the #2 slot and Reggie and not biting on the available QBs. They got two great OL, which should help them immediately. With a stronger line, I believe their running game will be quite good (I like Cedric Houston). If their QBs are healthy and can play well, then the Jets will look back on a very good draft.
Tough to vote against SF and Arizona.

I like Houston's draft.

Agreed. Got a link to that year's draft? Maybe start a new thread (mayber there already is one? Haven't gotten that far down the list on the main page yet).Unbelievable. Give it three years and then repost this. 24 hours later is way to quick. Now, the question should be: who had the best '03 draft??
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Like I said, it's relative. There is a grade today and a grade in three years. Problem is this is fresh now. In three years people tend to forget who they drafted but I do understand where you are coming from.Unbelievable. Give it three years and then repost this. 24 hours later is way to quick. I know someone posted the Panthers earlier, but they have to be one of the happiest teams out there right now. They got the RB they wanted, a very good nickel corner, a LB they claim is going to challenge for a starting position this year, and the TE they wanted in the 5th round. They may not be the players the experts think are the best, but the Panthers targeted each of these guys.
For a team that didn't need much, they did very well for themselves.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Relax you two. We all know that it's speculation right now. We understand that the implied question is really "Who do you think had the best draft?"It's between the Eagles and Cardinals. The next two closest are the Packes and Rams.Like I said, it's relative. There is a grade today and a grade in three years. Problem is this is fresh now. What need did the Saints fill? They got a starting Center and defensive tackle by dropping 8 spots. They got the best player in the draft that will make Drew Brees better. They signed two LBs in free agency and I am one who believes the LB problems are more from a poor scheme than talent. The Saints have a lot of draft picks from the past few years on the roster that could play with good coaching. Rick Venturi sucked. He could have the Bears talent and his defense would suck.I think the Saints did well. They drafted productive college players versus stat guys. I like the Eagles draft and the Packers.Did you vote for the Broncos? The Saints? They had a ####ty draft in which they STILL didn't draft a LB to fix their ####ty defense. They got Reggie Bush strictly because Houston allowed it. They passed on Winston Justice when they traded away their 34th pick. Then they didn't take Eric Winston or a LB with their 2nd round pick that they traded down for. What need did the Saints fill? They STILL won't make the playoffs, so how can they even be considered? The Broncos had the best draft when you include Javon Walker.

Yep, listening to Sports talk radio all morning, four different shows are picking the Cards as the top draft. The city is absolutely buzzing.Im with the Arizona crowd. They drafted four, maybe five starters. Historic draft for the Cardnials. I hope they turn it around.

i read the sarcasm in your post.....but...I voted "Other" CLEARLY the Houston Texans hands down had the best draft, I mean, they obviously knew something that the rest of the entire world didn't so I've decided to make a 360 degree turn and side with them. We are all stupid and must bow down to the clearly best run organization..

a 360 degree turn will keep you going in the direction you started.I'm honestly amazed. I agree; I think people are fixated on the name value of Javon Walker and the fact that, in the 2nd round, a healthy Walker was clearly better than any available rookie WR.I don't think it was a bad draft, far from it, but I don't think they cleaned up either.I think people are overrating the Denver draft.
I'm not big on receivers coming back from ACL injuries. It took Galloway nearly 5 years to do so. Jerry Rice did it successfully, true, but he's a freak of nature.
Scheffler and Marshall are risks and Dumervil is overrated.

I feel the same about the Arizona draftI think people are overrating the Denver draft.
I could've sworn we went through this same reaction about their draft last year. Buzz around Arizona drafts is becoming what buzz around Washington FA signings are.Their defense stunk last year, and they waited until round 4 to take someone on defense. The only player drafted from last year who is projected to start week 1 is Antrell Rolle.I'm gonna wait until I heap a bunch of praise on the AZ draft.I wasn't as much into the draft last year. Here was the Cardinals' draft:1 8(8) Antrel Rolle CB Miami (FL)I feel the same about the Arizona draftI think people are overrating the Denver draft.I could've sworn we went through this same reaction about their draft last year. Make sure not to mention they had several players injured last year including Rolle.
With that said they were still in the top 15 at D so im not sure I would say they stunk.
I'm sure they were the only NFL team with injuries last year.Make sure not to mention they had several players injured last year including Rolle.
15th in which category?Usually when someone mentions defensive rankings they talk about either yards or points allowed. Not saying I subscribe to either as a ranking system, but I'm curious what they finished 15th in.With that said they were still in the top 15 at D so im not sure I would say they stunk.

They were 28th in rush defense too. Now the acquired Kendrick Clancy and Gabe Watson, both of whom should (repeat - should) help tremendously.15th in which category?

8th in yards allowed
27th in points allowed

This seems like the same thing that is said about the Cards for about the past 3 years now.The Cards seem like the favorite darkhorse team every year, but have never lived up to the expectations. The cards D is much better than people realize...they are really going to turn some heads this year once people see them at 100%. Especially with Edge and an improved offensive line helping them keep fresh.
I wouldn't be surprised to see top 5 stats from this squad...I'm not kidding.

I just checked my efficiency rankings, and the Cards actually graded out 16th. My point about Walker:- He had one good yearCan you please explain the relevance of this statement? Do you know what round TO was drafted in? How about Rod Smith? Anquan Boldin? I wonder what round those guys were pegged to go in.As for Walker, that's be a good trade if he were healthy. Green Bay reached on him in the first (he was pegged as a second rounder), he's coming off an ACL, and he's had one good year playing with a hall of fame QB. This was a big gamble, and almost certainly another step back.
When healthy, Javon was a beast on the football field. So, the Broncos gamble on his health just as they'd have gambled on Chad Jackson not busting out like so many other Florida wideouts. Of those gambles, I'll take the former.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Fair enough. I guess I still don't understand the relevance of "where Javon was pegged to go four years ago". I understand the rest of your points. My point about Walker:- He had one good yearCan you please explain the relevance of this statement? Do you know what round TO was drafted in? How about Rod Smith? - His one good year was with a Hall of Famer
- He's coming off a significant injury
- He was a reach as a first rounder (in anticipation of the inevitable "But he was a first rounder who looked good in his third year" response)
Its relevance in the context of the post you snipped is that I would be surprised if he contributed this year. There's very little evidence that Walker is anything more than the guy that Favre threw to, a position that made Antonio Freeman look really good in Green Bay and unable to hang on with a team after that.
I'm not sold on either of the guys that Denver got. But I'm DEFINITELY not sold on either one helping them to win THIS YEAR, and I think the Broncos made a huge mistake by failing to capitalize on this window of opportunity when they had all those picks. This was a bad draft for the Broncos.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I finally took a close look at the draft for each team, and I think this is the best. I agree with the rest of your picks to Jason. Probably shouldn't have cut the quote short, but Clevand rocked, imo. I think they have 8 serious contributors from this draft. That's not counting Sowells at guard but he's a possible beast. It definitely goes to personal preferences, but they just seemed to nab a bunch of guys I think are very underrated, then they all seem to fit nicely on the team.Cleveland -- The Browns have many needs and they selected 10 players, most of which project to make the 2006 active roster. In Wimbley, the team adds a pass rushing 3-4 OLB. In D'Qwell Jackson, it lands a future difference maker at ILB. Travis Wilson is a bit raw but wasn't a reach in the 3rd. On Day 2, Harrison, Minter, Vickers and Oshinowo could be in this year's rotation at their respective positions.
<{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Every pick after the 3rd round is a reach. I like (actually dislike, but appreciate) what the Jets did. They got the 2 best blockers available. who will both start, and they got a QB that I think can be very good. After the 3rd round, you're getting projects that will succeed or fail depending on too many factors. Given Manginis background, I believe they're guys he thinks they can coach into role players. Remember, they've got to face the 'fins and Pat's lines for 4 games a year. They were in dire need of line help, and they got it.As many said prior to the draft, it was strong at Offensive line. I think the Jets still could have added to their OL with Mangold / Justice type picks and STILL added a talent like Davis, Hawk or Ngata at 4 or trade down.
