Who is Blair White? (1 Viewer)

Clark, out

Collie, rumored out 2-6 weeks

Addai, rumored out 4 weeks

Colts are droping like flies. I just checked the depth chart and it looks like some kid named Blair White is next up. Anybody know this kid from college? pre-season? How does he look? Is he worth a roster spot?

undrafted - walk-on from Michigan state, has geat hands and a great work ethic . . . grab him if this Collie story has any merit . . .

You seriously don't know already who White is?Really smart player, great hands, but otherwise not physically blessed. He will be in the right place and will catch the ball, but he won't blow anyone away with his speed or anything.

I guess we will see a bunch of Wayne-Garcon-White sets then, right? Who else would get playing time at WR?

I'm sorry but I'm going to have to go against the grain and say that if Gonzo does indeed get healthy he will be the #3 receiver and not White.

Gonzo will be back . . .
Forget about him, he's done.Blair White and Mike Hart are the ones you want right now.
dont forget about donald brown kemosabe he will be healthy after the bye. hart only has merit if brown out imho

Cecil or Bloom were touting White this summer. There's some good info there if you want to search.

Anyhow, the Colts backup TEs did pretty well in preseason. They didn't strike me as anywhere near athletic enough to play the slot role like Clark, but more like a typical TE. Projecting all of Clark's stats onto WRs doesn't seem wise.

No guarantee Brown will be healthy after the BYE.However, if he is, I bet the Colts give him a good long look to see what they've got, and whether they need to bring back Addai.

Anthony Gonzalez tweaks ankle injury

Indianapolis Colts receiver Anthony Gonzalez, who is being counted on to help replace Austin Collie, who recently underwent thumb surgery and will likely miss a few weeks, recently tweaked the high ankle sprain that he had been nursing since early in the season, according to a source familiar with the situation.

It does not appear to be a major injury at this time, but it is notable considering what the Colts receivers have gone through in recent days.

Besides the injury to Collie, the Colts also lost Dallas Clark for the season when the tight end was placed on injured reserve with a wrist injury.

Gonzalez might not be ready to play as soon as Indianapolis would like and it could be the latest setback for a wide receiver that has had plenty of them the past two seasons.

The Colts have a bye this week and return to host the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football in Week 8.

The Colts' first-round pick in 2007, Gonzalez missed almost all of last season and spraining knee ligaments in the season opener and later having arthroscopic surgery on the knee.

i like my White and Tamme adds more and more!

but seriously, can't the Colts get a freaking break?! i don't like them too much, but this is getting worse and worse...

First Down: Spooktacular numbers upcoming for The Blair White Project

By Brad Evans

Forget Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees and Michael Myers(notes), no monster has recently shaken Colts Nation more than the injury imp. Over the past 10 days, fantasy’s most diabolical creature has feasted on the flesh of several roster staples, leaving gaping holes in once formidable lineups.

The list of casualties reads like a Pro Bowl ballot.

Dallas Clark(notes), done for the season after undergoing wrist surgery. Austin Collie(notes), expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a hand injury. Joseph Addai(notes), out for at least the next four games with nerve damage in his shoulder. And Anthony Gonzalez(notes), who would likely shatter his tailbone jumping into a pool of plastic balls, sidelined indefinitely after reaggravating a high ankle sprain.

Most teams would never recover from such a slaughter. However, none are blessed with the healing power of Peyton Manning(notes).

The four-time MVP can turn garbage into gold. Because of his extraordinary ability to command, deliver and teach, unheralded products are capable of transforming instantly into viable lineup cogs. Pierre Garcon’s(notes) marvelous play at the end of last season along with Collie’s rapid ascension this year are prime examples.

Rookie Blair White(notes), a member of the practice squad roughly a month ago, could become Peyton’s latest magical concoction.

Undrafted last April, the former Michigan State standout has shown potential during his brief stint in the league. Equipped with plus size (6-foot-2, 210-pounds), tremendous ball-tracking skills, considerable intelligence, tacky hands and route-running savvy, he’s an ideal underneath target similar in style and substance as Miami’s Davone Bess(notes).

Most importantly, White is absolutely fearless.

In his first ever professional game Week 3 at Denver, the unintimidated receiver told Manning he could beat his defender on “a slant and go.” Sure enough, the youngster soon basked in touchdown glory, quickly earning the respect of his quarterback.

Now expected to slide into Collie’s vacant spot, The Project could post supernatural numbers on Halloween and possibly beyond, especially in PPR leagues.

This week, the Colts will try to avenge their Week 1 loss to division rival Houston. Expect a pass-centered game-plan. As educated fanatics know, the Texans have struggled containing quarterbacks allowing 8.2 yards per attempt, the second-highest mark in the NFL. Unsurprisingly, wide receivers have also excelled against them, performing 19.7 percent above the league average.

Of course, Reggie Wayne(notes) and Garcon will be the primary vertical options, but with the running game in flux, Manning will be forced to work the middle of the field, an area of defensive vulnerability for Houston and a place where White could thrive. On a pass-first team which has turned to the air 62.5-percent of the time, he should attract roughly 7-9 targets Monday night. Newly anointed tight end starter Jacob Tamme(notes) could also be a factor, particularly between the hashmarks, but is a rawer receiver in comparison.

As Manning remarked four weeks ago, any player is an injury away from making an impact. White’s could be significant. Don't be frightened by the immediate schedule after Week 8.

In competitive formats where the Left Coast Mike Williams isn’t sipping margaritas in the free agent pool, the 98-percent available wideout is a low-budget commodity which could strike fear into the competition.

He might also calm a city under siege.

Fearless Forecast (Next five weeks): 27 receptions, 298 receiving yards, 2 touchdowns

Indy has Houston this week at home and Anthony Gonzalez is banged up with a sprained ankle.

Prediction for Blair White this week?

I have him penciled in for 150 yards and 2 TD.....

Gonzalez said the ankle rumor is false.

Gonzalez has seen his job get taken twice by garcon and collie (maybe not the exact WR spot, but certainly has lost snaps). He has something to prove, and he definitely knows the offense better.

I imagine it can't be easy with peyton calling 30 audibles every time he steps up behind Jeff Saturday.

None of us know who the breakout will be, but to remove the former OSU (late) first rounder from the conversation is plain silly.

AG is by far the best healthy fit for the slot.I expect big things for a few weeks and then he retains the startign role.

The problem with the colts is the same problem folks had with the saints last year. The QB/system are so good that based on gameplan scheme guys fluctuate wildly between 6 for 111 and 2 tds and 1 for 19 (with someone else going 6 for 111 and tds who had 1 for 19 last week) depending on what the D does. Manning/Brees are two guys who moreso than most will take what the defense gives them instead of feeding it to the guys they have developped a rapport with. It makes it a crazy game of russian roulette starting any colts receiver (save tamme really as Peyton really does use his TE's often)
