Who is Don Jackson? (1 Viewer)

Did people really start him? Such a big risk of a doughnut. He was sitting squarely on my one bench where I had him.

not that I'm aware. injuries are impossible to predict but inside info from a buddy was that he's soft and wasn't cut for even 10 handoffs
Me too. It didn't cost anything and it was on my deep roster team. Anyone who started him is already in such bad shape or was way too hopeful for a guy activated from the practice squad. I know for a fact as a Panthers fan that that doesn't tend to be a good thing.

his inside info on lacy being done for the year was spot on 24 hours before anyone on here reported it. I even made a post about it. his work gives him connections to the team and players; he works for the hospital group that is contracted with them

as I said, him working close with the team gives him access to information. and information I was getting was practice looked like montgomery would get the majority of the carries and Jackson looked soft

no I did not know this until close to kick off. In fact before I kept montgomery in I gave him a text to ask him what the deal with Jackson was. he told me don't worry about it stick with ty

No harm here. No way I was gonna start Jackson sight unseen. I do wish we could've seen more of him. Thought he looked good on his second run (other than the busted hand portion of it).

Eerie has similar this played out tonight with Jackson and the situation with Dwayne Washington in week 4. In both cases, some of us spent too much time in here speculating about startability and expectations, then both of them got 2 carries for 6 yards and left with injuries!!!

tried to warn you about him in general. he was a practice squad guy not activated when all we had was lacy. that tells you enough right there.
the fact that he got hurt, no one can warn anyone about that. no way to predict it aside from how a guy runs maybe. how he plays. injuries are typically fluke incidents. I'd be the last guy to say "I told you he'd get hurt" unless the guy was already hurt and I had a medical reason to back up my prediction.

if you're addressing the information I referenced, no you wouldn't have seen that either unless you had my phone in your hand or you knew my friend and it was a group text

I understand...I get tired of people claiming after the fact that they had some "inside information". I could just as easily offer up say, as of now Prescott is starting for Dallas on week 8, then the game starts and it's actually Romo. I could post that a friend of mine who works with the Cowboys told me on Saturday that Romo looked real good in practice on Thursday/Friday. He told me they were going to start him.
it has no credibility....now, if you posted that info before the game...well, there's your credibility

I have no inside information. My philosophy related to fantasy football has almost always been to build around pass catchers and supplement with the hodge podge of RBs off the wire. I started this thread because a big chunk of RB value in the NFL is opportunity, and there was some opportunity here.
As to him being soft -- I have no idea. I saw the play where he got hurt -- Jurrell Freeman put his helmet directly on Jackson's hand in a full-frontal hit. Jackson was immediately holding his hand and trying to flex it and shake it out. Idk if that makes him soft or incredibly unlucky.
Still - in these scenarios, I evaluate the process in landing on the guy in the first place. Opportunity? Check. Some talent/athleticism? Check - based on what we knew. As for what happens after that, the chips fall where they may. Is what it is.

True. I don't like that either. I cannot give his name. He has given me some rumor/inside info mostly on injury severities as well as rumors he hears on practices. I literally got the information minutes before kick off and had enough time to make sure he was in my lineup. Didn't post it here because by the time I did it wouldn't have mattered probably for most people. I have posted my insider information in the past ahead of time. In one of these threads I posted that Lacy's injury was a potential season ender, roughly a day maybe more than when it was announced.jerry jones said:

Absolutely not. He might become something eventually this season but he's a long shot. Picked him up to see if I could strike instant gold with the Thursday night game. But even before his injury it was the ty Montgomery show back there.
Dropped him to pick up brate again who I dropped for him.

I think so. Stranger things have happened, but I don't see him carving out the backfield to himself with Davis on board, Starks coming back (even if he's been lousy) and Montgomery carving out a role.
Unless he hits in the next few weeks (which I doubt), I don't think he ever will.

Are you sure? I just searched and couldn't find anything about this except last Thursday's report of him starting. I just dropped patterson for him based on this.

I needed 2.7 points from Don "he's starting!" Jackson to save my season in one of my leagues.
While I realize how pathetic that last sentence sounds, bear in mind I had a ton of injuries and due to BYE issues, big Don Jackson was, I thought, a lock for 5 points.
I've got Big Ben/Matty Ice, Julio, Dez, Maclan & Ingram. It's a team that now finally healthy; should easily be one of the weekly point leaders, even having lost Roethlisburger. At 2-5 I'm sunk. At 3-4 I've got a shot at the wild card, and my opponent was one of the WC contenders.
Needless to say, the esteemed Mr Jackson's less than stellar performance did not net me the 2.7 points I required to continue to compete in that league. :(
I wish him well. he's got a good story. Montgomery is pretty much the man right now. Opponents might start to key in on that more now that they've seen it for a game or 2, but he should be a great source of points. I'm not sure what'll be there for Don.

The bold is a pretty... er... bold statement for Knile Davis. I'd say there's still opportunity for someone to work in with Ty, but I don't see why it can't be Jackson. In games with double digit touches, Davis has more with under 3 YPC (3) than he does with more than 4 YPC (2).
We don't know what Jackson will be, but pretty sure Knile Davis isn't that good.

I hope I'm right too. My biggest bet was placed on Montgomery, but I own Jackson in every league too, and Davis in one (where I really don't want him). Time will tell -- I'm just surprised at all the enthusiasm for Davis.

I never doubted your team for a second. I knew you were dealing with a ton of injuries and it was only a matter of time before you were one of the weekly point leaders, even having lost Big Ben. Too bad DJ couldn't have saved your season. It really bothers me to no end. Not sure how I will be able to sleep at night knowing how great of a team you have and you aren't going to make the playoffs. It sucks man.

I have memories of Davis filling in Wellington the past when Charles was hurt. I guess that's where my opinion comes from.

Davis looked great in stints there.
My concern is that was a much better system for a RB like Davis.
GB is a great system for passing 50+ times a game.
Eddie Lacy in his rookie season looked like he was finally going to provide a beast-mode RB that the Pack couldn't ignore. They were finally going to have a stud who could tote the rock 20+, setting up PA for Rodgers. Lacy could make his own yards and wasn't purely dependent on what the line gave him.
I'm not sure it's the best fit for a 2 yards and a cloud of dust guy like Davis, mostly because I don't think he's going to get the workload he'll need to be super productive fantasy-wise. Your best bet with davis is short yardage /cheap TDS, but again, packers love to throw on 1st and goal at the 1.
I realize I left out vital information about my fantasy team - sorry to let down those who were counting on an update.

I was hoping for clarity on this too, as I saw Rappaport on NFL TA yesterday evening, stating that Jackson would start, but could find no further link or twitter confirmation.. I had already picked up K.Davis and wanted to know if I got the wrong guy.. I'm short an RB wk9 due to BYE-megeddon after drafting J.Charles and CJA. If anyone has more info, I'm all ears...
