Who is gonna be a better #2? (2 Viewers)

I have been looking at both of these guys for a good #2 just can't seem to decide who will be better any one else have input on these 2

Manningham has a bit higher upside, but Burleson can be had much cheaper.

I love Nate. Only real competition is Titus Young, who has not stayed healthy and is a rookie. Plus, the Giants O is no longer by default better than the Lions.

Not much of a sample size but in Stafford's only 2 complete games last year Burleson had 14 grabs for 160yds and a td. Theres a nice connection between the two with a potential great season, if Stafford goes down be prepared for Hill to be checking down like crazy to the backs and TE's,marginalizing Burleson.

Burleson has had numerous opportunities to improve on the promise he showed his rookie and sophomore years.........yet he's fallen short of expectations every single year.

Meanwhile, Manningham has improved his stats every year that he's been in the league. Plus, he's a lot younger.

Manningham will win this battle going away.

I like both of these guys, and it seems like their respective QB's do as well.

Both should benefit from playing across from STUD WR's that must draw maximum coverage. If I had to choose one, it would be Manningham though... he was pretty explosive last season even in a limited role. Look at how he finished down the stretch in 2010... WR1 type numbers.

WK PTS OPP REC YDS TD

16 20 at Packers 4 132 1

17 17 at Redskins 4 101 1

I feel like Burleson is arguably the most slept on WR this year. I personally have him at WR31, but his ADP is WR48 and 168 overall, and he's considerably ahead (15+pts in non-PPR) of the guys I have behind him - Maclin, Evans, Lance Moore, Garcon. Its like with all the love Stafford has gotten this preseason, none has translated in bumps in Burleson's projections with most people.

That said, its easily Manningham, and they arent in the same conversation. Manningham's ADP is WR24 and 65 overall, I have him in a tight group between WR13-WR20 at WR16. So Manningham is going 100 picks higher than Burleson.

IMO, its a great idea to target both, Manningham starting mid-5th and Burleson in the 11th-12th. In leagues where I ended up with Nicks, I was less focused on landing Manningham, but ironically I ended up with Burleson in a league with Megatron, and he could end up being my WR2 since I went RB with 5 of my first 6 picks, and am weak at WR.

ETA: The only reason I have tempered my expectations on Mario is that I think losing SSmith and Boss has a visible impact on Eli this year (maybe already visible). They didnt add anyone, and now Mario will be getting #2CB coverage all the time. I also see the Giants running even more this year, as it is really their strength at this point, and even their #3RB Ware has been impressive now that he's finally healthy. On the other hand, Best is already banged up and if he gets a longterm injury, I see the Lions throwing even more.

Manningham & I think it's closer to 5 miles. ;) These guys shouldn't even be in the same discussion.
The discussion I think they do beling in though is: WRs with the most upside based on ADPFor me, theyre right at the top of that discussion, along with Santonio and Britt, although considerably more risk with the latter than the other 3.

I think a better discussion would be between Burleson & Evans. If the question was who was a better value I would give it more thought.

If thats the case, your not the smartest owner.I love people who rank off last year, as opposed to predicting the coming year.Manningham is not a world beater by any means, what has he done that Burleson hasnt? LOL, a mile or 5? comical?Burleson has a 1000 yard season, does Manningham?Burleson has two 9 TD catch seasons, does Manningham?Whats funny is I love my mMchigan boy Manningham, I could just be reasonable. I love how players take different ranks once they are on your team.Another thing, you all act like Manning can get it to Mario no problem. Remember Eli sux too. How many 20 pick seasons he have? And I predict another, but yup it Manningham by a mile. I love when people let their kids get on here and talk football with dadies username.Great talk.

Manningham,IMO, the clear winner of the two but as was said not a bad idea to target both guys. Manningham should at least prove his ADP and I think Burleson will surpass his ADP. I'd take both on my squad if given the chance.

Burleson has a much better QB situation and a much lower ADP, I think Burleson can be a 800yd/5TD guy with upside from there. Not quite Manningham but for where you can get him a great value. I wouldnt mind both on my roster. Burleson can give you WR3 stats for a WR4 price. Manningham is fully valued, no bargain but still a nice WR2

Oof.

Given where they can both be had, I don't see why you would bother picking one. Just take them both and let the season play out.

I have both guys in a number of leagues, and I'm quite happy. I've been getting Manningham in the 5th or 6th, while grabbing Burleson much later, up to the 13th or 14th in some cases.

I love guys who get owned by their own posts. The guy answered the question of the OP and then gets the king of the tools here ripping that opinion. I agree with him, Manningham by 5 miles. And no, its not my 3 year old posting for me. Then again, CuZ,was that ur 12 year old posting for u because the grammar and maturity lends me to think so.

will Pettigrew be the #2 target in Detroit? Isn't it possible Brandon ends up 2nd on the team in receptions. The Giants don't have the competition for targets that Detroit has.

I expect Nate to end up 2nd in receptions. He seems to have a good rapport with Stafford. I don't think Stafford is as good a QB as almost everyone here does, but the fact remains that they let him throw the ball a lot. Burleson essentially played 13 games on a 66 catch pace last year, but he's a great red zone threat - and he's used that way. Everyone here is predicting yards and TDs as correlating factors, but I could see Burleson with 800/10 and Manningham at 1000/6. Given their vast discrepancies in ADP, I'd rather have Burleson. By 5 miles.

I think Burleson at his current ADP is a better value, but as far as who is going to outperform each other, it will be Manningham.

Oh thats right I made you look foolish on the football angle because your just on the hype train, taking common football sense otu if it. So I undastnd you have to crack out spellin issues. YOUR football knowledge is vast.

YOUR pretty cool!

Oof? really? thats the concept of your comment? Sounds like you know sooooo much more about football than I.

Burleson has a 1000 yard season
So does Derrick Mason but that doesn't mean I'd draft him ahead of Manningham. :lmao:
Also, Masons situation is different, but people who watch football and understand it, know that.Do I really have to discuss the concept of what certain player situations mean to performance?Eli Sucks, fact. The running game in NY seens to be pretty good. Manningham Plays Phillys corners twice.Matty is freak, but I'm sure all you prisoners of the moment will say "can he stay healthy", if thats your comment your not as smart of a fantasy owner, so I should not even be having this discussion with you. However, no running game an elite amongst elite WR in CJ on the otherside, and an easier schedule...plus just a skillfully better player then Mario, like I said i love Mario as I'm a Meechigan fan. But yup, lets use last year to predict a new year. If we go of last year, the the team that won the SB the previous year should always win it, but they dont, because thats how much last year matters to this year.

But tell me how many 1000 yard seasons Manningham has had, please?
Tell me how many 820 yard seasons Burleson has had, please.
Seriously? is this the type of people on this board?I did not know 820 yards was some strange benchmark that matters. But its funny you mention that number, gees does that help make your argumant? lol, oh I know why, cuz he got 822 yards 2 years ago. Lame!Another thing that is comical on this board is the sense people have. I'm in no way saying Manningham sux, as a matter of fact I own none of these guys and was just simply answering the question. The question is who is the better #2 fantasy WR out of these two. The funny thing is on this board objectivity goes out the window, because if you own somce scrub, you would try to make him look good to justify it to yourself. Burleson with Hill - 55/625/6 M'Ham with SB winning QB - 60/944/9 Burleson played 2 less games, but hey, keep going off last year. lol

It's no more significant than 1000 yards. Which, by the way, Burleson hasn't reached in 7 years.JuSt CuZ = STaFf aLIaS
I'm not a member of the staff, they frown on strong opinions and the truth I believe, lol...they won't have me.But if you think 820 is more significant han 1000, well I just laugh at you.

Mannigham is talented, Burleson just a piece of garbage

You keep saying its some sort of fact that Eli sucks, but that's hardly true. Especially for fantasy purposes. Sure, he throws picks. He also throws 4000+ yards, 25-30 tds and has only finished out of the top 13 fantasy QBs once; his rookie year. He gets people the ball.

I got Burleson dirt cheap in a few leagues this year, and I think the ROI is going to be tremendous. I do think Manningham is a better play, but I had other areas to address when it came to his ADP. People drafted Manningham as a #2, and for the price he better perform that way. Others drafted Burleson as their 6th WR, and in my opinion, WR3 is his floor.

I think Hakeem Nicks doesn't outperform adp.

Nate Burleson drastically outperforms ADP.

Manningham slightly outperforms ADP.

Without Steve Smith and Boss in the fold, I have no clue how the NYG targets will go. I frankly wouldn't be surprised if Manningham has a better year than Nicks.

Average Points per game after Steve Smith got hurt (weeks 10-17)

Hakeem Nicks: 15.980

Manningham: 15.988

Average points per game after Steve Smith got hurt and Nicks/Manningham both played

Manningham = 17.42

Nicks: 13.32

I'm not using these numbers to prove that Manningham will outperform Nicks last year, as we know Nicks was hurting some of those weeks, but it's at least to prove that it will be more 1/1a than 1/2 split than people are believing based on the current ADPs.

I imagine those who have been watching pre-season are rostering Burelson. Stafford looks at him a lot and he has made some nice catches. Its clear the guy has a lot of talent but has always underwhelmed. Reminds me of a certain Denver receiver who had a decent year last year....

Aint gonna lie there, but it just so happens the people getting the ball are wearing the other color jerseys.asnd for Fantasy purposes, Eli does suck, oh and in real life purposes too.

Would he even be in the top 20 QBs if you were starting a new team? on the cusp for me.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Eli Manning is not a top tier QB, but he's a good NFL quarterback. To completely dismiss him is ridiculous.

Is that all you got? Weaksauce

Anyways Eli's turnover by years....

04 - 10 in 9 games

05 - 19

06 - 20

07 - 27 (More TOs then total TDs(24))

08 - 12 (Thats it?)

09 - 22

10 - 30 (31 total TDs is great, but not when you almost turn it over just as much, just pathetic from a SB winning QB)

Now he played all 16 games after 04, but still not a guy I want on my team, however.....

Manningham should have a good season, but not as good as Burleson.

Like S. A. Smith said. "Tell me one player who has said they can't wait to play with Eli Manning?"

Its a fact, people do not rush to play with Eli or Coughlin. Its odd people refer to their SB title, as if they were the best team that year. They beat the best team, but it sure had to do with the defense and gum stuck to a helmet.
