How do i get into a big money league with this guy?
There are many ways to ask about this, most of them are reasonable and classy. This is not one of them.
Feel free to work on your posting and ranking skills during your vacation.
Thanks Jeff,I am in Kansas City at the 19th annual redraft for my long-time FF league with all my college buddies, that's why it took me some time to see this thread and respond.
The short answer to the OP's question is this: I got my job here at Footballguys.com after working for the old site NFLTalk.com. When ESPN bought NFLTalk back in 1999, my then-editor told me about a new site that was going to be started by Joe Bryant and David Dodds, and provided me a strong referral to them. 9 years later, I've participated in evolving this site from the "Old Yeller" days to the current fantasy football Mecca that everyone enjoys.
In season, on Mondays I write the weekly injury report that encapsulates all the injuries that have impacted the 16 NFL games. On Monday-Wednesday, I co-write with Joe Bryant the Rushing Matchups and the Passing matchups for the coming week for all 32 NFL teams. On Wednesday night, I record a weekly podcast segment with Cecil Lammey updating the Monday injury report with an eye towards the coming week's games. I regularly participate in the Fantasy Roundtables created on a weekly basis by Maurile Tremblay in season.
The list of preseason articles that I write/participate in is lengthy and too numerous to link here, I think anyone reading gets the point.
It also happens that my rankings reflect some of the items that I work on each week. The years of writing the injury report made me leery of Peyton Manning's knee injury/surgery - I have had him in the 40's on my overall board for weeks (since the announcement of his bursal sack infection/surgery). Now it appears he may miss some time at the start of the NFL season - something I was concerned about from the moment that I heard about Manning going under the knife. And so forth.
I'll add to this answer that anyone who wishes to read
my rationale for my "outlier" rankings need simply mouse over the numbers on the rankings board - there is an extensive explanation of my Steven Jackson ranking, for example.
As far as my results vs. other fantasy football experts, I'll hold up my record to anyone's - I've won my divisions of the annual Fantasy Sports Trade Association leagues back-to-back in 2006 and
2007 - Last year I defeated Matthew Berry of ESPN and Howard Kamen of USA Today (to name 2 of the other owners) in the "Hearts" League.
Hope that helps.
