Who is SJAX's backup? (1 Viewer)

I don't know if it is clear but I thought at the end of last year Pittman had climbed the depth charts and was the backup. There were some recent comments from Linehan recently that praised Pittman as one of the most improved players this off season. He would be the first one I would look at.

Here is a blurb from Rotoworld...

Antonio Pittman-RB- Rams Jun. 8 - 4:34 pm et

Coach Scott Linehan calls Antonio Pittman and Joe Klopfenstein the two most improved Rams of the offseason.

Pittman was in a difficult situation last year, having to learn the offense on the fly after being picked up off waivers. But he promisingly advanced to second-string tailback by the end of the season and can be drafted as a Steven Jackson handcuff in deep leagues. Klop's upside is as St. Louis' No. 2 TE.

I would guess Pittman, but Leonard did have surgery on both shoulders in the offseason, so I'm sure that's part of the reason Pittman got a lot more work as the season went on. Leonard is still lining up some at tailback in the Saunders offense, so I don't think there is a clear #1 backup to Jackson.

I agree with Bloom.

Also, I don't think Linehan will feel, in anyway, that it must be a one person job should Jackson be out. Pittman may get the bulk of it but I don't think he'll get the same touches Jackson did. He'll sprinkle in some Leonard then.

Well, if Sjax's is out any length of time looks to be just Leonard and Pittman as backups. Who's this Yvenson Bernard? Never heard of him. I'm not sure Leonard could do the majority of the carries for an extended period. Not completely sold on Pittman either. He was claimed off waivers last year after the Saints let him go to keep Pierre Thomas. Good move Saints. I think the Rams probably need to look into another rb to add depth and for additional backup to SJax during training camp. I just got Sjax in a new dynasty league so I'll be looking to handcuff someone for insurance.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Leonard looked terrible (before he got hurt) when he got his chance to play. I think Pittman is the backup to Jackson, and he looked a little better than Leonard.

Yvenson Bernard is a rookie out of Oregon State. He was a very productive runner in college, but lacks the speed that teams like to see, I think thats why he went undrafted. I really loved the way he ran in college and think its possible he could find a role in the NFL.
