Who is... Tim Hightower? (1 Viewer)

You obviously aren't grasping what I am telling you.
That's only because what you're telling me is completely disconnected from reality.
Anytime that Hightower is in the game... the defense looks for the run.
You seriously think that a defensive coordinator, lining up against Kurt Warner, Larry Fitzgerald, Anquan Boldin, and Tim Hightower on the first play of the game, thinks "let's defend the run"? Actually, I withdraw the question; clearly you believe that. So it's only a question of whether you're delusional, insane, or Tim Hightower's mom.

Please guys stop arguing about the obvious , Hightower is nt a NFL RB .
You must have missed it. I am sorry to correct you but he actually is an NFL RB. He was drafted by the Cardinals, and is currently the #1 Running Back on the division leading Arizona Cardinals. The Arizona Cardinals are an NFL team.I hope that clears things up for you.

Right. He's just not a very good one.Glad we're all on the same page.

I still think Hightower has a solid chance to be a good NFL RB. In the games Ive see it hasnt looked like he has had a lot of room to run. Ill wait until the end of the season before having a strong opinion one way or the other.

Wow is this thread ever a roller coaster ride.

Remember when we started this discussion in April? I do - it was about a 5th round no-name RB with a great upside opportunity.

Look what happened - many Dynasty players grabbed him late and have had some success with him on the cheap. Great value there.

Then comes the vast majority of FF players, the redraft crowd. Hightower was a flyer / handcuff for Edge with upside, and then he became a GL vulture and eventually took over as the starter. Still pretty good value overall. Not a fantasy stud though, which is why we're seeing so much complaining right now.

Keep perspective guys. Hightower, when running hard and getting some decent blocking, is a pretty good NFL RB. He's still a rookie though (remember that "rookie wall" discussion? Why not here?) and we've gotten spoiled by rookies of late. Forte, Chris Johnson, Matt Ryan, even Slaton - all still productive.

It is his first year and he'll be competing for the starting role next season and is still the #1 rushing option for the Cards and a decent receiver out of the backfield.

He was never meant to be Tomlinson or Barber.

:thumbup:I also wanted to point out that Forte, who's generally regarded as having a solid season, had a pretty unimpressive five-game stretch where he went 27-89, 19-43, 15-36, 20-76, and 20-56. Just because Hightower has mostly struggled in limited carries after becoming the #1 back doesn't mean he won't turn it on down the road. He just doesn't have the good fortune to get fed the ball 15-25 times a game, particularly when Arizona's sieve-like defense constantly works towards AZ passing instead of running.

Does Hightower have a future?

200 carries and only a 2.8 YPC average. I am not too impressed with Mr. Hightower.

Nobody who has actually watched him and can critically and objectively evaluate talent is.Even the Cardinals coaching staff, which has very few legitimate options, is tiring of the lack of production.

Righty so, Hightower was handed the job and has not produced.I drafted him in my keeper league but my concern is that he does not seem to have a runners instincts. Most rookie RBs who are given 200+ carries are able to showcase their skills, Hightower has done the opposite. Hightower looked much better getting 5-6 carries a game when the defense was tired than he does being the guy.

He is a 5th round pick, who is averaging 2.8 YPC on an offense that hasnt played against 8 in the box all season. Trade him now in dynasty leagues before he loses all value after the Cardinals draft a RB this spring.

I thought he had potential, as he did look good when getting a few carries and catches per week, early on, but he obviously is not a featured back type of guy. Had he not scored a bunch of 1-yard TDs this year, no one would care about him.

There have been four RB seasons in history where the back had 200+ carries and finished with a per-carry average below 3.0:

NAME POS YR AGE EXP G RSH RSHYD YD/RSH RSHTD1 Eddie George rb 2001 28 6 16 315 939 2.98 52 Reggie Cobb rb 1993 25 4 12 221 658 2.98 33 Marion Butts rb 1994 28 6 16 243 703 2.89 84 Harold Green rb 1993 25 4 15 215 589 2.74 0Hightower fans might be pleased to know that George, Cobb, and Green had later seasons which were better than the season in the sample, but Eddie George is the only one who received 200+ carries in a season again.Limiting it to rookies, there have been four cases where a rookie RB had at least 150 carries and less than a 3.0 ypc average:

NAME POS YR AGE EXP G RSH RSHYD YD/RSH RSHTD 1 Travis Prentice rb 2000 24 1 15 173 512 2.96 72 James Jackson rb 2001 25 1 11 195 554 2.84 23 Jonathan Wells rb 2002 23 1 16 197 529 2.69 34 Lee Bouggess rb 1970 22 1 14 159 401 2.52 2Hightower detractors would be pleased to know that none of them had 150 carries in a season again in their careers; only James Jackson had even 100 (102 in 2003).Expanding to rookies who had more than 100 carries with a 3.0 average or lower, to increase the sample size, brings it up to 13 RBs, including one successful one (Jim Nance). But Nance was a pure fullback back when fullbacks got regular carries; he probably got mostly short-yardage carries. And it was the AFL.

So if Hightower turns this around and becomes a generally productive RB, he would be doing something that's never been done in the history of the NFL.
