Who is your FAVORITE analyst? (1 Viewer)

A thousand times JAWS!!!

Dude will tell you how the FB's first step caused the LB to do this which caused the safety to do that which frees up the skinny post. No one has ever come close to being a true analyst of the game. It's an amazing travesty that they put such a great FB mind in the booth with a complete talk show moron.

Long is good but he's not nearly as comprehensive as Jaws.

Mark Schlereth is my second favorite.

Buck and Aikman blow.
Agree about Jaws, but disagree about anyone else not being a true analyst of the game. I thought Hank Stram did a very good job analyzing the game when he was teamed up with Jack Buck on the radio. And also agree about Buck/Aikman, though more because of Buck. Didn't that guy listen to his dad call a game?
I thought we were talking about current or at least recent analysts. And besides, with replays and visuals, Jaws can analyze and relate things better than any radio broadcaster ever could
Not so. The radio guys (no matter what the sport) have always done the best job at calling the game and analyzing what's going on.
So the radio guys can use the telustrator, spot shadow, and highlight features to show us replays how and why plays worked? They may be more descriptive and better speakers but as far as analyzing and relating the hows and whys to the audience the visual impact alone sets any TV analyst above radio guys.

Mayock

Not only a great speaker but has a wealth of knowledge about everything football, College and NFL.

He doesn't just commentate, he explains why he thinks the way he does and actually teaches you the intricacies of "the game".

1. Jaws

2. **** Vermeil

3. Al Michaels

4. Marshall Faulk (please put him in a booth)

5. Mark Schlereth (ditto)

Honorable mention to Bill Maas. Here's why. If you ever have even the tiniest buzz on and you tell the story of the Cards Panthers game last year with the "Larry Fitzgerald's hands are like cobras!" the room will effin blow UP. Also my dream team would be Marshall Faulk, Mark Schlereth, and Ray Lewis who I think could end up being a good broadcaster.

Jaworski, Howie, Schlereth, TJ

Sidenotes:

(1). I also used to really like Mark Malone.... whatever happened to that guy?

(2). I love the fact that no one has mentioned Collinsworth. I can't stand that guy.

criticizing is too easy . . . who is your favorite??My vote goes to Hoge and Jaworski . . . NFL Matchup is the only show worth watching on ESPN (besides the games themselves) . . .add: It's really a three way tie for me . . . I like Mayock as well . . .
I've met Hoge, and he's a pretty cool guy. I don't always agree with him, but he's one of my favorites.

Jaws - With the way he breaks down film, he makes you feel like you're in the film room.

Madden - Still as entertaining as ever

Paul Maguire (is he still around?) - A lot like Madden, but with a better sense of humor. I miss him and Joe T.

I like Brian Baldinger a lot.. Does playbook on NFL Network which I think is one of the better shows when it comes to breaking down game tape.
This is an awesome show. I like both Baldy and Sterling and is definitely a meat and potatoes type of show. No fluff..

Jaws

Aikman

Merril Hoge

Sterling Sharpe

Erik Kramer was solid, but he's not around anymore

PHIL SIMMS
Simms is likely the worst analyst in the history of man. I can't STAND when he's the lead color guy. Madden is a close 2nd to most annoying.Gus Johnson = #1, Don Cryke (sp?) = #2 on my list.

I like Aikman and Buck. They are the show IMO.
:lmao: Although I think they qualify more as broadcasters than analysts, no?As for analysts, I always liked this little guy named Andrew Siciliano who used to host a fantasy show on Fox Sports. I think he moved on to the NFL Network, but I never watch it (need to start - I'm sure I will once DTV carries the HD feed full-time), so I'm not sure.
Siciliano does an afternoon drive radio show for Fox Sports Radio. He has a well-rounded sports knowledge. I do not think he does anything with the NFL Network.

I think Shannon Sharpe is pretty good on Sirius... Gives good insight and adds a lot of humor as well.
You must own a SS-to-English dictionary.
No, but it would definitely help to have one sometimes. :pics: He's not very articulate but he has a good understanding of the game, and he's always good for some laughs..

Sterling Sharpe is better - he has an ego but he knows his stuff . . . he's 4th on my list . . .
