Who is your sleeper rookie? (1 Viewer)

I thought it would be interesting to see peoples sleepers or undervalued players, for the sake of the post, lets just eliminate these players:

Moreno

Wells

McCoy

Greene

Brown

Crabtree

Maclin

Harvin

DHB

Britt

Nicks

Sanchez

Stafford

My top sleeper RB is Devin Moore. Deep sleeper is Cedric Peerman.

My top sleeper WR is Mohamed Massaquoi. Deep sleeper is Brandon Tate.

I like the call on Brandon Tate, looked good and had a great showing in their bowl game. Picked the right time to turn it up, but I think alot of it depends on his 40 time.

Dillard and Nate Davis

There are a lot of other deeper WR's + RB's I like and I'm sure more are going to emerge, I've traded away all of my picks between 15 and 30something in my IDP dynos and have added more later round picks, I'm trying to add more too. Not seeing a big difference between most round 2 IDP dyno prospects and round 4's unless you're in the market for a stud DL or DB. I'm not. A few of them will break out, they always do, but I don't think I'll have a good idea as to who until after my drafts.

It would be awesome if people also said why they like particular players as their sleepers.

Dillard and Deon Butler won me over this week with their quicks, body control and suddenness in and out of cuts. Dillard's ups were also sick and give him the kind of game in the air that you expect from a 6'3" WR. He won't go in the top 100 unless he runs well, which is silly, and why he'll remain a sleeper. Butler will remain a sleeper because of his 5'10" 170 frame, but he looks plenty physical enough to me. My top offensive skill sleeper overall right now is James Casey, but I think the cat will be out of the bag on him soon. He's a ridiculous talent who as a freshman scored as a QB, and sacked a QB as a DE in the same game. He was originally brought in as a free safety, then they moved him to DE, then H-back/TE, and this year (only his soph year) he caught over 100 passes as a slot receiver. A 235 pound rocked up slot receiver who has the athleticism of a much smaller player. Think "man among boys" a la Brandon Marshall or Vernon Davis (although Casey is a man in a sense as a 24 year old as compared to the age of most prospects). He caught 11 TDs as a receiver + ran in 6 and threw 2 as the short yardage QB this year. His hands are good enough that he's the holder on placekicks. I got to talk to him this week in Houston and believe me, he is impressive in person. At first glance, you would say defensive end for sure based on his build and physique, that's what makes the fact he was a SLOT receiver so freaking impressive.

RB - Rashad Jennings, Liberty
Obviously a small school guy. Although he did play for Pitt (transferred cause of family issues). Has a great size/speed combination which will bode well for him at combine. Has good patience & vision needed at next level to hit holes. Solid hands and solid blocker which will keep him on the field for 3 downs. Biggest knock will be level of competition he has played against.
WR - Louis Murphy, Florida
Good size, Great speed. Good Hands. Underachieved in college somewhat but was overshadowed by P. Harvin. Has all the tools to excel in NFL but is a raw. Definitly needs some coaching to succeed at next level. But if put in right situation, could be a steal. Biggest concerns i have heard is his work ethic. Kind of reminds me of situation in Miami a few years back with Moss/ Wayne. Moss definilty overshadowed Wayne but Wayne was very good in his own right.

If Jennings runs in the 4.4s with his natural size, he'll shoot up draft boards. He's a very solid runner and Im looking forward to comparing him to Javarris Williams and Gartrell Johnson, two power backs that looked good this week in Shrine Practices, although my impressions of Jennings on tape is that he doesn't run with a great initial burst.Murphy is a better natural receiver than he's given credit for, and he has a nice long frame. I'm looking forward to seeing him this week to compare him to Aaron Kelly, who really impressed us in Houston, in fact I really should mention him as a good sleeper too. 6'5" frame, more sudden out of his breaks than you expect for a long limbed player, great hands, great body control, lots of separation on every kind of route in practice. He really opened my eyes this week and he looks like a quality mid round pick.

I'm going deep here, but I like Jamarko Simmons from Western Michigan. Great production, good size, good skills. His stock will be hurt because he only has average speed. He is at best a second day pick. But I think he will definitely make a roster -- possibly as a TE.

I agree that Casey is a nice prospect. He could be the top rookie TE for FF purposes.

James Casey if he's TE eligible on MFL.
Lets start the Casey :lmao: fanclub
While watching the bowl game, I wrote down Keller/Daniels comparison.
He's way more athletic than Daniels, and better suited to block than Keller, although he doesn't quite have Keller's prowess going up for the ball.
That is why I had Daniels/Keller. He seems to be a good mix of the two.

I've never actually watched Liberty play, but from what I've seen in highlights, Rashad Jennings looks fairly mediocre.

Here is junior highlights...but doesn't do him justice to be honest. Just remember this guy was starter as freshman on Pitt......he has skills.

Dillard - excellent route runner - could be very similar to Eddie Royal.

For a VERY deep sleeper - Chase Patton, QB, Missouri. I realize that he didn't play in college, but he didn't really fit the spread offense. He's more of a pro-style QB with the measurables that teams love. He won't be a guy that makes an immediate impact, but not too many QBs do, but with the lack of pro-style QBs in college these days, I think he'll definitely get a shot somewhere. He isn't a guy I'll draft, because I think he'll be undrafted in almost all dynasty leagues. I'll look at rostering him if he's on a roster after training camp - unless he starts to make news before that.

I'm keeping my eye on Rutgers' other WR, Tiquan Underwood. He's had a down year (actually a down first half, like the rest of Rutgers) after his 1000 yard season last year, but I think he gets taken near the end of the draft and opens some eyes in camp.

Some key points that teams will consider:

-He's a tough, quick runner. As a freshman, he took snaps at QB, in what would now be considered the Wildcat formation.

-His biggest issue this year was drops, which he improved on greatly as the year progressed. Some of this was attributed to Mike Teel's early season habit of locking on receivers to the point where players knew they were going to get hit on every throw.

-Unlike many of his counterparts, Underwood played on the coverage team in special teams. Even as a senior. And was good at it. So as opposed to being a receiver who has to learn special teams to stick on the roster, he'll be brought in with the expectation that he will play special teams.

will be at texas vs the nation and we'll profile him on draftguys tv if he stands out.

:hifive: I like Underwood too.

Willie Tuitama is a guy who intrigues me as a productive four year starter out of a BCS school. He was a top prospect coming out of high school and he has NFL caliber tools.

RB - Rashad Jennings, LibertyWR - Louis Murphy, Florida
 If I didn't know who Louis Murphy was I would swear I sleep walk and post at FBG under another ADP alias I made up.Jennings is a physical freak. Now I know that doesn't neccasarily translate well in the pros, but it can't hurt.

I like Dillard for the same reasons most do. Precise route running and elite ball skills, as long as he's not awful vs. the jam (haven't seen evidence one way or the other) I believe he will be a great #2/decent #1 for a long long time.Nate Davis, from my notes - big arm, very accurate, mobile, throws well and accurately on the run (still looks to throw, doesn't run until he has to), tough, I've read his leadership skills are undeniable, great field vision, good decision making, good pocket awareness, can make all the throws, effective making broken plays, experienced coaching (unlike many small school prospects), and consistency. The only negatives are size and seems to try and do too much at times. He reminds me a lot of September-November Tony Romo.

I'm suprised to see that Louis Murphy pulled out of the Senior Bowl. I would have thought that a good Senior Bowl showing would really have elevated his draft stock. I wonder why he pulled out?

I guess I got my answer (per Rotoworld): Florida WR Louis Murphy pulled out of this week's Senior Bowl after undergoing "minor" surgery on his knee. The surgery was reportedly to clean out loose cartilage. Murphy is a raw deep threat who relies heavily on his vertical speed. This operation could easily cost the projected third-round pick a number of spots on draft day. Also: Not only did Ramses Barden measure in at 6'6", he also had bigger hands (10 5/8") and the longest arms (33 3/4") any senior receiver at the event.

you said the same things about Sidney Rice at the end of the 2007 season, and how he was going to be the next big deal at WR... :coffee:

Rice was hurt all year, but he definitely hasn't developed as we had hoped. He's only 22 years old, so I wouldnt write him off just yet.

Tyrell Sutton - small yes, but fast, shifty and incredible hands. Very similar to Slaton and if he can beef up 5-10 pounds, he could have the same impact. Could be an awesome fantasy PPR player.

YES!!! :lmao: :excited: Please show a burst of speed, good movement in and out of routes, and great hands. I need this to happen to justify taking him in the 1st rd.

How about Marlon Lucky? He was a top recruit at one point and his career seemed to derail in part due to injuries. If he falls to the right team, could he not surprise?
